Would have bell the sub myself but maybe they are worried about Collingwood's size.... I'd have just taken the risk.
Agree.
Reckon Bell is odds on favourite to be subbed out.

CH7 (7Mate) has a 50-minute lead-in to the match mainly full of crap interviews and subjective piffle from the commentators. They should start their coverage at 7:30pm and make it more interesting and watchable.
Now that I have got that little whinge out of my system, on to tonites match ...................
I believe we are a chance to pinch this one tonight even though we are grossly under-rated as the underdogs. The Age experts have gone against us 23-1 and the HUN experts are even worse 29-1. Out of 52 supposed experts, only two of them think we are going to win with one of them being the 'Kiss Of Death' which is a pisstake.
Losing Waite on the eve of the match hurts, losing Carrazzo is nothing because he didn't even play last week. This means that we have to find some other players to chip in with some forward pressure and goals PLUS Rowe & White are going to be relied upon even more this week. If the game is tight and the pressure is applied, Cloke will get the yips and be a liability for them.
The midfield battle is going to be a big pointer as to who will win, we have the players to match them but Sidebottom always seems to play very well against us. Gibbs will be given a key run-with role tonite and if he can win that individual battle, it will go a long way towards getting us the win.
I really pray that Warnock hasn't forgotten what he displayed last week and that it is the minimum standard we expect from him every week. Casboult & Henderson just have to be impact players tonight too.
Looking forward to seeing young Docherty tonight, he has good disposal and can be a rebounding defender too.
Overall, have the courage of our convictions and maintain the intensity and we will just sneak over the line.

Casboult, talk about clunking a mark, he nearly took the air out of the ball.
Missed the shot at goal badly.
Could of and should of been 3-goals straight right now.

Rowe was terrific attacking the ball from deep in defence but once again he just threw it onto the boot and it went straight to two Pies players.
Play the percentages and hit the boundary with a clearing kick.

Casboult just made two very poor decisions, one at either end of the ground.
Contested a ruck contest and stood flat-footed and let Pendlebury virtually waltz away with the ball, down in defence contested another ruck contest and gave away a silly in-the-back free kick which resulted in an easy goal to the Pies.
He has to think these things through more because it is these small errors in judgement that always have me angry at him and denigrating his worth.

We don't look on tonight... look very disjointed and patched up, which isn't surprising since we seem to have a different starting 18 each week. Some of these blokes would hardly have played in the same side. Pies' pressure is making us fumble and kick poorly... face it people, we're a very very average side with a lot of blokes missing.

It's the complete lack of skills and this urge to bomb the ball long that's killing us. The effort is there but the skills and the brains are non existent. Also we can't seem to kick longer than 35 metres.

We are going backwards tonite, it feels like RD's 1-4 again.
No intensity, no fight, no chase and crap skills and/or decision-making.
This is the thing, these guys tease us with two-weeks of something worthwhile yet they are too lazy mentally to maintain that standard. Failing a second half transformation, we are looking at a total smashing on the scoreboard.
And I was expecting to run close to them all night and pinch it in the end, how wrong was I. ::)

Yea, a few blokes like SOJ and Docherty having a go but nothing to kick to up the ground. Utterly devoid of teamwork. Reckon Rowe has done ok given his limitations. Disagree on 1AW... running around like a headless chook and horribly loose.
Midfield getting flogged... Murphy and Warnock trying but no support.
Up forward its a different story... like a bad B-grade 70's disaster movie... you know what's going happen and the result always ends up the same.... Henderson triple teamed and blatantly held, albeit F50 ball use horrid and our shooting for goal beyond description. 1 goal in a half of footy... 1 goal.
So why isn't Waite out there? If he was dropped....

I know that one man doesn't win you a game, but once I heard that Waite was out, I said we will need a miracle to win. Casboult can't kick straight, Thomas can't make the distance, neither can garlett who could have kept running late in the second quarter there and been closer to goal.
I have worked Henderson out this year. yes, he should have got a free in the second quarter for having his jumper pulled. And yes, the umpiring is totally disgraceful.
But if you watch Henderson closely as I jhave the last three or four weeks in particular, he likes the easy goal. the lead, then the mark. He rarely if ever tackles or puts his head down and goes in. Watch him, and you will see what I've been seeing. Henderson is a receiver, not a getter.
Thomas, ordinary tonight.
Rowe panicking as usual. Everitt, a non-chaser. Lucas, a non-chaser. Looks like he's running after his opponent but really isn't. I'm now convinced that he's a hack in the games that count against the top opposition.
White, been o.k. Warnock and Murphy both good.
Gibbs, tippy toeing again picking up little kicks and possessions as usual without doing the hard work. Robinson been terrific.
Casboult, trying his best but gave away a brainless free and asked the umpoire, "was that for in the back?' when told yes, he just nodded his head. If you knew that you had done the wrong thing, why do it in the first place. Dumb!!
BELL SHOULD NEVER HAVE PLAYED. YOU CANNOT FUNCTION WITH ONE HAND WHICH HAS A BROKEN FINGER. FKN IDIOTS FOR PICKING HIM!!!
Mick is developing an intense hatred for Touhey. I read his lips after Touhey fkd up in the second quarter for the 80th. time. Mick "fkn Touhey again"!!!
Mick also said with two minutes to go. "Our forward line isn't functioning" Really Mick??
Scotland, gone in games like this where the pressure is on from a genuine top 4 contender.
BUCKLEY. IF THEY ALL TRIED AND PLAYED LIKE BUCKLEY, WE WOULD BE 10 GOALS IN FRONT AT HALF TIME.
Oh, one more thing. Maybe they should employ a skills coach for next year. It is apparent to me, that we don't have one for this year.
Title: Re: RD 7 : BLUES VS PIES (Match Day Mayhem)
Post by: Professer E on May 02, 2014, 09:12:10 pm
Thomas looks to be on half rat power... like too many of this side. I agree that he might be playing due to jabs.
A few seem to be having a genuine go but they are being swamped by a side giving 100% work rate across the board.
Will be interesting to watch Gibbs' second half.
Title: Re: RD 7 : BLUES VS PIES (Match Day Mayhem)
Post by: bigblue on May 02, 2014, 09:13:34 pm
Too many behind the ball. We have nothing to kick to when we do get it. They are working much harder than us on the spread. terrible disposal whether due to stupidity or the pressure. No run from Simmo Walker or Touhy. Thye commentators saying Gibbs has been good? seriously?? Is it just me or has he been as crap as any1 else out there?
Buckley been great. Warnock good. So too Robinson.
Bell obviously not ready. Garlett better pull his finger out or he'll be back in the 2's by 3/4 time!!
Gee we miss Yarran's speed. And Armfield 's too hile we're at it.
We're a long long way off the Pies. They have 5 stars in their team and the rest are no-bodies who play to instruction. They play as a team. Getting a real lesson here on workrate alone.

All of this 'game plan' talk is laughable.
Its the same as it was, the last 2 weeks, which is the same as it was in the first 4.
What has happened tonight is the same thing that has happened during rounds 1-4. We've forgotten how to kick.
Look at the shots on goal, pathetic. 1.5 and at least a couple that didn't even score. Thats shooting, at best, at 16% on goal.
Kicking around the ground hasn't been much better. Rowe is so worried about the ball being in the back half that he just throws it on the boot and kicks it as hard as he can without looking, usually ends up in opposition hands. Robbo still does this, but his isn't limited to deep in defence, its all over the ground. When going inside 50 we only have 1 target that we are confident in going to (Casboult does not inspire confidence) and the pies know it.....so hendo is always double teamed.
Half time, we have been pretty well outplayed, but are only down by 37 points, 6 goals 1. We kicked 5.1 against the eagles last week in 10mins.

It does smell like rounds 1 to 4, but there is a second half, they haven't put us away yet, Naif would know this, 6 goals is nothing these days, ten minutes of footy, and games can change very quickly. That said I don't think tonight is that night hope it is though. Walker forward, Menzel on, Henderson back for Rowe, Buckly and Docerty to the midfield, Robbo to iron out Pendles, Thomas at full forward...

Yeah let's blame Rowe. 80% time in forward half for pies.
O.K. just one more time. You are right Shadsey, 80% in their forward line. But he is just a totally incompetent, panicker who, when he has got the opportunity to defend, i.e. take a mark, he goes for the two fisted punch. Handball to one of our players, he fks up. Kick it to one of our players, if you saw him last week, he was alone, had the ball, had two of ours on their own to kick to, and kicked it out of bounds. He scrags, pulls the arms of the forward and gives away free kicks every week.
You are right, not all his fault, and as Sheik says, only a stop gap, until we can get someone, but, when he has the opportunity to defend, or be creative with his defence, he hasn't got a fkn clue, and never will have.
He is VFL standard at best.

Robinson has a set shot from 50m and in an attempt to kick longer, he runs around in a curve which forces him to shank it left, he didn't even make the distance.
There is a perfect example of why we are what we are right now. Our players do not have the minimum skills needed to play this game. Way too many of them either can't handball, can't mark or can't kick and when under pressure, it gets exposed badly.

I'd cop this, as bad as it is against the Hawks or cats.
But against the mortal number one enemy!!!
Every player should donate his pay for tonight's game to Peter Macullum cancer clinic towards research for prostate cancer, so that at least some good can come out of tonight's debacle.
+ 1

The Big Galoot kicks our third for the night, could this be the start of our new patented last quarter comeback ??

I care so much that I dont care anymore. Like when you are so hungry that you dont feel hungry.
I mean there is a dude in their team called Jack Frost FFS. Maybe he's to blame for us falling over. He has a super power that allows him to throw out a thin covering of frost in front of an opposition player.

Warnock kicks to forward line all our blokes want to fly for it, no one out the back.

No doubt I'll either be flamed or completely ignored, but I simply refuse to believe that our woes are solely skills related. This team is better than 16th, better than the drivel they've served up tonight. Something ain't right behind the scenes, and I have no idea what it is.

Assuming that you need 13 wins to play finals, we can only lose four more games this season before we are officially out of contention.
Best thing is, we still have to play Geelong (twice), Hawthorn, Fremantle & Sydney. :o

Twice Buckley was fended off with a hand in the face and never paid. Happens once in front of their goals and they get a free.
We haven't lost because of the umpires but fck they make it harder to even get close.
Agree 100%

Saints next week. Put in as a win. They aren't contenders.

Unfortunately, no one at the umpires department has got the guts to tell the umpires to umpire according to the rules.
The year started off with Campbell and Kennedy the umpires bosses, telling the umps to let the game go. They have pulled that back a bit, but still won't pay obvious free kicks.
Krevin bartlett keeps complaining that they won't umpire to the rules, and it's killing the game.
It is.
And it will cost a team a grand final one day, if not this year.
