Title: Northern Blues vs. Sandringham at Visy on Saturday
Post by: crashlander on June 06, 2014, 12:05:58 pm
Sorry I am a little slow off the mark this week - it is exam week and I have been pretty busy (and I like it! It has been great having work for a change). As a result everybody has probably already heard that Judd is named to come back via the VFL. Well, I would count my chickens yet. He wasn't sure yesterday that he would be right to play. However, he might be right and is slated to play about half a game this week.
I have always been one to be pretty strict on playing fit players and think this is a good move. How it turns out, is an interesting question. I'd love to be there, but I doubt I will be able to manage it.
Northern Blues vs. Sandringham Saturday 7th June Visy Park at 2:00pm
Northern Blues
B: Wilkinson M. Watson McInnes HB: Sheehan Anthony T. Thomas C: Holman Graham Lucas HF: Buckley B. Johnson Temay F: Wilson Byrne Bransgrove R: Wood Judd Cachia Int: Bolger Reynolds Dufficy D. Watson Tardio Coulson Dirago Cattapan Perry*
Sandringham B:Roberton Simpkin Munro HB: Shakallis Le Grice Banfield C: Cook Cockie Webster HF: Ong Stanley Curren F: Siposs Maister Markworth R: Pierce Savage Armitage Int: Gwilt Saunders Zijai Grace* Jones Minchington Holmes Graham Ritchie
Our lineup does not look a strong as it has been this season, but Judd in the midfield, even for half a game, should give that a HUGE boost. I am a bit surprised Buckley got dropped. I don't think he is 100 % fit. I think he played last time when he shouldn't have, and consequentially played below his best. Hopefully he can rediscover that run that made him so effective earlier in the season.
Northern Blues vs. Sandringham Saturday 7th June Visy Park at 11:00am
Northern Blues
B: Emley M. Gleeson McDonald HB: D. Watson Dirago Callaway C: Cattapan McCann Posar HF: Totevski Coulson Dufficy F: Haynes Murray Dorman R: Bolger Taglieri Tardio Int: M. Johnson K. Roberts J. Gleeson Toman H. Curnow Dowse Sutton Kur Grimes
Score is completely irrelevant....you know exactly what what we wanna be hearing about.....

GOALS: Reynolds, Johnson, Wilson, Wilkinson, Graham
Not much on Judd as yet, but he was mentioned as having 10 possessions during the 2nd quarter. I'd say he hasn't been starring, but he been getting a bit of it. Another week or 2 required. DISPOSALS: Cattapn 18, Cachia 17, Graham 16, Judd 12, Lucas 11, Watson 10
Wet and miserable conditions and we have dominated possession by nearly 50. However, getting that dominance on the score board is another matter altogether.

WOuldnt be surprised if he comes in for one of our tall forwards? Waite or Hendo?

Blues 10.7.67, Sandringham 7.7.49 Juddy has done some magic this quarter from the sounds of things, including a couple of real Juddy bursts. JuddWatch: 16 disposals, 10 contested, 8 hard ball gets, 4 handball receives, 2 clearances Does this sound familiar? ;D ;D

Blues 11.7.73, Sandringham 7.7.49. Goal to Temay after good defensive work in the forward 50. However, Maister (Sand) has a shot from about 50 to come.

A few tweeters have been impressed with Sheehan today. He may be in line for a senior game soon. he certainly did well in the wet today.
No score to Maister.

No tweets for more than 5 minutes: must be pretty hard going.

Blues 11.7.73, Sandringham 9.7.61 Not so good. Gwilt being a danger in the forward line.
Now 25 minutes gone and there have been a LOT of stoppages.

Juddy is off, as per instructions. Seems to had a reasonable comeback. Holman has had a huge last quarter.

Blues 11.7.73, Sandringham 9.7.61 Final Score on a cold, wet and difficult day. Judd got through unscathed. 1st win since round 3!

Is that run enough to warrant a recall to AFL for Juddy next week ?

GOALS: Wilson 2, Thomas 2, Graham 2, Johnson, Reynolds, Wilkinson, Temay, Cachia
DISPOSALS: Cachia 33, Graham 32, Cattapan 29, Lucas 25, Watson 20, Buckley 19
Our mids had a pretty decent day, everything considered. Neither Sheehan nor Holman appeared in the stats, but had really good games. I wouldn't play Juddy next week: give him a ful lgame in the VFL and he will be closer to being ready.

Didn't he play a full game today?

Just got back from the game... and, yes. You could see him gradually increasing his intensity as the game wore on. No brainer that he will front up for the seniors next week.
Ground out a good win. Pretty dreary game at times, but well done by the NBs to beat their much better fancied opponents.
I thought Cachia was probably bog closely followed by Graham.
Graham - as per usual got plenty of the aggott and has obviously been working on his disposal... much better though still a few of the sticking on the boot and hoping for the best. He was influential and continued to get where the ball is at! A good skill for a midfielder. Showed more grunt in and under as well.
Cachia - although he fluffed a few disposals his body work in tight was really strong and effective.
Watson - probably his best game for the year. Actually took marks! Did some nice things and will probably feature in the better players. Slow start though. And still too bloody slow over the grass and in between the lugholes.
McInnes - improved as the game wore on but a shadow of his former self.
Blaine Johnson - pretty quiet really. Not much influence on the game.
Sheehan - if he continues to improve as he is, should get a senior gig before the year is out. Liked his hard work and attack on the aggott.
Byrne - the 'other Ciran' is behind Sheehan in terms of development but he is coming along nicely. Has poise and kicks well on the run/to position. Tightens up, though, when kicking for goal and sprays them. Casboult syndrome?
Temay - hopeless in contests requiring positioning, but did dispose of the aggott well and was serviceable after half time, until then he was the incredible invisible man.
Wood - serviceable and did his job.
Buckley - did some good things and his dash was damaging. Appeared to get injured but reappeared. Good effort.
Reynolds - plenty to work with here. Positions himself well, showed composure under pressure and is pretty damn accurate with that left foot.
(Giles didn't play),
Holman - is getting better at understanding the defensive stuff. Again started off half back. Did some good things but also a few turnovers hurt us. Learning well.
Lucas - hard to believe he had 25 possessions.
Apart from Judd, Buckley and maybe Graham could be considered for a senior call-up. If Carrazzo stumbles then you'd consider Cachia. Gulp, Watson might also be considered.

Thanks for suffering the inclement weather on our behalves, mate. Fix yourself a nice hot cup of cocoa. In a brandy balloon. Hope you took a great big breath and hesitated for a long moment before you proposed, as an afterthought, Watson for elevation!

I thought Cachia was probably bog closely followed by Graham.
Watson - probably his best game for the year. Actually took marks! Overhead marks too - I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seem it with my own eyes. Did some nice things and will probably feature in the better players. Slow start though. And still too bloody slow over the grass and in between the lugholes. Always trails his opponents by several metres and still lacks desperation.

Forgot to mention that as far as the Preston listed boys went, Cattapan, Wilson & Jack Anthony deserve mentions as being v. good contributors to the victory.
Jack Anthony did a terrific job down back... is looking much better as a backman than a forward!
