Who were the 3 list cloggers after tonights game.
Armfield, McLean and Warnock didn't set the world on fire tonight. In fact Armfield might have stamped his papers tonight. Such a shame because I really liked this kids before this season.
I went Brock, Armfield and Menzel...the latter is a keeper of course but you have to judge them on the night and he gave us nothing IMO...the other two are cooked
as players and are in their last season at the club IMO.
= worst
(I reckon 8 or so of them). Just didn't show up.
Menzel, Jamo, Docherty, Armfield, Thomas, Everitt, McLean, Murphy, Warnock. Oh, and Walker. All embarrassing.
Remarkable we got that close given so many really did sfa.
Brock and Army definitely for mine - these two must be replaced next year. Menzel was hardly sighted, despite his efforts on Pendlebury, Carrazzo made some bad blunders and so did Curnow. Hendo was another but the 4Q probably saves him.
Warnock was towelled up by a bloke who hasn't played 20 games, Kreuzer leaves a huge hole.
Big Knockers found some good form a month or so back but his last few have been terrible.
Dale Thomas.
Dale Thomas
Dale Thomas
Gave two goals away to the Pies, missed two easy shots himself.
When you consider we had to let Betts go to get him he's a screwing dead weight.
Cant disagree...he stunk it up and watching Eddie perfom made it worse...just thought we had a few who were even worse...
.......and HOW screwING EASY DOES THE BALL COME OUT OF THE FORWARDLINE WITHOUT EDDIE AND JEFFY????????????????
ABSOLUTE crap MICK, THIS **** IS TAKING THE PISS.
Warnock's last quarter was better than the last 12 or so as he at least tried to get involved in contests.... but he still doesn't do enough. For a bloke that stands around a lot, perhaps he could lay the odd block?
Thomas... for his kind of money he has to do much, much more.
Brock.... has been a warrior for this club but treacle slow, doesn't pressure the ball carrier and fumbles ... sorry, but time's up.
Armfield... headless chook... keeping a kid who can contribute something out of the side. Why this bloke has fallen way so badly, so fast, is another bewildering chapter in the sorry saga that is CFC 2014.
Thomas will come good.
Brock should have played more in '11 but I am starting to think his time may be up... unless of course he is carrying something
Army... not sure what to think. Reckon his time maybe up... maybe another season.
Unless Army can find a position very fast he's gone. 3 games in a row < about 10 possessions. He can't find the footy and that's a real worry.
Menzel and Armfield by the length of the straight and Warnock just shaded Jamison.
When? I've been hearing this excuse since round 2?
He is not a kid - these are the years he should be at his prime.
We paid 700k a year and what we are supposed to wait a year and half to get some value.
Should have kept betts. Dumb pick up IMO.
Armfield's game was career-defining.....for all the wrong reasons.
Menzel doesn't appear to enjoy getting his hands dirty.
Carrazzo is simply krapp.
McLean......the end is drawing near, the game has officially passed him by.
Armfield - one guy at the game screamed at the top of his lungs, when Army put on the red vest "Dennis has been subbed! We're gonna win!!" Pity that result didn't come about, but I see his point.
Carrazzo - gave us nothing. Unfortunately, he's not even a shadow of his former self.
Walker - poor effort. I don't even know what position he played, but he did not present.
Walks seems to have lost his ball touch, fumbled several critical receives that he normally wouldn't, not sure what's happening with him, wondering if he's carrying an injury?
I have real concerns for Armfield, Carrozzo Mclean Curnow Thouy Robinson Warnock Walker.
Also we need a new Captain. Murphy could have kicked a Captains goal in the 3rd to make it even, 25 m out and fluffed it...also not enough of a leader for mine....
Nathan Buckley mentioned in his presser that he visibly noticed that Murphy was carrying an injury. Despite this he felt it was less of a risk to persist with tag on Murph than transfer tag onto Judd and Free up Murphy. Opposition coach paying Murph respect says he isn't as bad as some make out. His miss hurt us no doubt, but he didn't give up all night.
Habitual fumbling isn't injury-related denim, don't go making excuses for a player who's horribly out of form.....
Haven't seen him in this bad a form since the year he was contemplating leaving to join crows.
Started back and cost us goals, went forward did nothing, went in the midfield and wasn't up to it. Seems to have lost a yard of pace (Got burned by Rhys Palmer last week) and might be close to being done.
Walker, Everitt, Menzel.
Walker looked fit, was he, did that head knock during marking leave him stunned?
Everitt was back to his worst from a few years ago, Kevin Barlett style skirting the pack is not what you need from a +190cm players!
Menzel must be crape scared of tattoos!
Yep. I was willing to give him time, but we have paid him $700K for $200k value IMO. So his next 3 years will need to be worth a million each. That means winning games of your own boot.
Yep, it's called Mick Malthouse.
You see, I was willing to accept LR's comment at the start of the year and give him time but he's had that time now and let's face it for 700k he is goddamn awful. To think we could've kept Betts for less but Mick opted to bring his best mate in on overs just like Mick's best mate Swann brought him in on overs. Do you guys not see what has happened here? It all started with Swann, now he's gone but his failed BS is still here.
He doesn't handle playing against his old team-mates, he may never be any good against them, some players just cannot deal with it! But if they keep belting him behind play and burying his face in the turf the love affair will wear off very quickly.
What is good is that we haven't seen any signs of the injury to this date, and the depth of his kicking improves almost weekly.
Had his best season under Malthouse last year.
@LP
Do you know what 700k gets you?
Eddie Betts apparently, but not Tom Scully, Israel Folau or Karmichael Hunt!
I absolutely understand why we recruited Daisey, and if he stays fit he will be of benefit to us!
No 600k gets you Betts, care to name a player on 700k or more?
It is a bit speculative to be rounding out figures like this when nobody knows, Betts is listed in media as getting $650K. Daisey is listed as up to $700k, Murphy gets a matching contract as does Gibbs allegedly ~$600k. They are all basically in the same pay category.
It could also get you a Tyson Vickery or an aging Chris Judd, the variations are extreme! Given the increase in the TPP in recent years, Grigg would be getting 80% of this!
The best players are getting the lion's share of the cap. No way Grigg is on 500k, that's Waite money (though Waite isn't exactly going well).
Agree 100%.
I noticed it the first time around, his mind seemed to be miles from the game, he was better last night but not by much.
He just can't switch off from being their team mate by the looks of it and the Collingwood players play to it, I noticed Swan having a joke with him last night.
Pissing in his pocket I call it.
Let's hope he comes to terms with it before we ever have to play them in a final, or in a game to make the finals, but his last month has been good.
Grigg was on $300K+ four years ago!
I thought it was 250 but a bunch of that was to entice him over. Maybe he's got a small increase but 500? It is Richmond, I suppose.
Marc Murphy 3 votes for worst on.
Agree...thought the skipper tried hard and put his body on the line and copped some treatment....didnt have a big night but he wasnt our worst.
If some of our bigger bodied blokes followed his and Simmos example we would be a lot better off, at the moment only Rowe looks like he is really up to it.
Cloke backed into packs a few times, Casboult, Everitt, Watson take note!
I thought that Murphy tried his guts out and ran himself into the ground attempting to get us over the line. Missed a gettable goal (not the only offender there) but was held every time he went anywhere near the ball. Can't understand the grief he is copping ATM... has been a greatly improved and relatively consistent player c.f. the early part of the year.
The fact that he is the main target for tags says plenty IMO; the only player other sides rate.
Agree, Murph is the least of our worries.
Sadly for Murphy, his role is to oversee the development and protection of our kids. If he can play into his 30s then he may see success as captain.
Sheesh for a bloke on 700k Daisy has featured in our WOG ten times more than our BOG.
Walker continues to make appearances as well.
A number of people here vote players based on agenda not performance. Carrazzo is in the best and worst this week.
Why would they give him best votes, what is their agenda, are they part of the Lygon St mafia still reeling at Carrazzo's failure to get the Carlton captaincy?
The same guys who won't speak out against Murphy, but won't speak in support of Murphy either, silence is golden and it says quite a lot! ;)
I think some of those appearances are due to him being on 700k!
Rather than agenda, those who had Carrazzo is in their best or worst three this week may not assess performance in the same way as other folk.
That's the politest way I could find of saying that they are poor judges ;)
Looking at Carrot's efforts on Pendlebury he did a reasonable job of reducing his effectiveness - he gets a tick for that I suppose. On the other hand, some of his disposal was very ordinary and he provided very little in the way of drive from the midfield and they were the aspects of his game that caught my eye.
I think his days are definitely numbered as we need a lot more dynamism in our midfield and he's not the kind of player I would chose to provide that.
