Nobody seems to be thinking of this week's game at all as yet.
Granted that things are not looking like the sort of victory we experienced last week, but are we that sure we will fail?
Just noticed it's live (in Mel) on Ch7 so I'll definitely be watching. Not super optimistic, to say the least, but certainly hoping we can back up from last week - haven't seen the teams as yet.
Swans by a minimum of 6 goals
It is nice for us to on TV: we haven't had that much air time this year compared to the last couple and our 'draw' has not been conducive to making money. Even our new president has comments on that.
Wow Thursday night and 4 comments in the pre game thread, things are quiet around here!
I wonder why? ???
Absolutely relaxed about the result of this game, no stress whatsoever if we loose. Will only be stressed if we win. Bring on the draft.
For me I'm a little flat, nothing left to play for so early in the season, another shellacking a big possibility. Only thing to look forward to is blokes like Yazz, Cas and the Menz.
Luckily no Tippet as the idea of our guys having to cover he and buddy is a scary idea.
No Menz unfortunately :( but Graham is back for another week at least....then back to the Magoos for the next 4 ::)
After donning the green vest no doubt. Or maybe Blaine might get it.
Hope Blaine starts - liked the look of him against the Saints.
What's Ellard done to get a game? Is Cachia fit?
>:(why does ellard keep getting a go? He is an average plodder at best..Cachia deserves his chance before Davy boy...
Cachia got suspended for a week after the Collingwood game. He'll be back next week and must be a chance.
I was a bit surprised that Ellard got in, as he was not one of those who stood out last week.

That answers the question on whether Johnson will be the sub.
What's the bet Graham gets the vest?
We will get yet another touch up from a team that knows and has what it takes, COLA or no COLA.
I reckon we'll go okay.
And Ellard will be subbed - or vice versa.
Just a straying thought (probably a pretty crazy one), but what do we reckon about Touhy being the starting sub? He can play a variety of positions, is very quick, makes pretty good decisions under pressure, can very well be an impact player, etc.
I mean, i love the guy and want to see him running around all game; but I think he could be an effective sub.
Mick has given us the message dont worry about the results and be patient, he says Swans have the best list ever...there are two excuses he can use after the game and I am not expecting to win and Mick has primed the supporters for a loss. Menzel is a big loss as he takes heat off Casboult and Henderson and I reckon Buddy will tear us apart...
Ellard is a battler and Graham a newbie who will find those big bodied Swans mids hard to tackle and even harder when they tackle him....Mick has given us the message dont worry about the results.....I reckon anything less than a 5 goal loss will be seen as a reasonable result..
No chance this week, any that we had evaporated when Carratts ans Menzel were ruled out.
I'll be happy if we get within 5 or 6 goals but I doubt that we will.
I can see us winning this one actually. Don't ask me why, it's not logical, it just matches the rampant schizophrenia that follows our football club.
We will give it a shake anyway. not that it matters.
We've lost our leading goal kicker and I can't see Lachie, Levi and White having their way with the Swans' back line. I can't see us kicking a good enough score. Especially with no real small forward.
Jeffy is emergency. I'd play him. The team is pretty slow.
If we win I shall eat my scarf for dinner without holding anyone accountable.
After listening to Malthouse explain what is expected of Waite and Garlett before they can expect a recall, Watson is named as an emergency ::) What did he do to deserve a spot in our best available 25 and who in the Swans could he play on?
Wouldn't it be refreshing if our coach actually explained what he was planning?
I can understand the lack of pre-game discussion; we're on a hiding to nothing, our list is apparently crape but we won't try youngsters, and we're all hoping that the boys will play out of their skins and we'll jag a win.
How many other coaches outline what they are planning?
He has sent a message to Waite and Garlett and rightly so. If he's any more depth I am sure a few others would receive a similar rocket.
It's not a social welfare group, we need to toughen a few sooks up
Nah he's a hypocrite. He applies double standards to almost everything.
If he is, and he flushes out some weak players I don't care. The club has been held to ransom by soft, crap players, with inflated opinions of their value for 13 years. Do you really think Clarkson is a super star coach or does he have great players with the right attitude at his disposal?
I think it's a mix of both but I have no doubt whatsoever that the message from Clarkson remains consistent, no matter who or what he's dealing with, whether it be in the media or behind closed doors. Double standards simply do not work, never have and never will.
With the way we have been playing, assuming we keep it up, the team we have selected, and the way the Swans play, this game if it is in a bit of rain could break the AFL tackle count! ;)
Does anyone know what the record is, I think it was Port and Ninthmond?
It will be interesting to see how we go against them in the absence of Mumford, also in the absence of Kreuzer who usually does well playing the Swans.
Stop stressing me out Thry :)
If we win it ill be extremely disappointing, this is a must lose game - non intentional but in the grand scheme of things.
@DU - lose, not loose mate.
As in 'Brazil's defence was loose to non existent.' :P
Back on topic, we will probably lose by 5-6 goals, with us playing 'ok' and the Swans relaxing & playing below their usual level. Seems to be the way of late for us when up against the better sides in the comp.
Hoping its on fta here in SA, but won't be shattered if its not televised.
your right Raven, my apologies, my Iphone likes the word loose. :)
Go Swans
Yeah barracking for draft picks really worked well for us a decade ago, didn't it? :-\
I would LOVE to see us win, it would make my weekend!
Swans by 55 points
I sniff a possible surprise in the air, put it this way, I don't think we'll get a spanking. ;)
I'm with you and 3 Leos, Fluffy Biscuit. I fully expect us to make a good account of ourselves.
I'm with you. High draft picks are great, but every time Carlton run out I want to see them win.
Double ditto. Hate tanking with a passion.
Graham sub.. How strange... >:(
Dont think Mick is big fan of Graham's yet and the lad will have to prove himself.....
That's fair enough too. He still has to prove himself IMO but that's a bit hard from the pine. I would have started him with Ellard as sub. Maybe Mick thinks though that may have more impact coming off the bench than Ellard?
WTF Graham sub again? This guy is a piss taker and a half.
