There were some signs of improvement again: we actually had more tackles tonight than in any previous 2 games, but the result was the same. However, we did play against a much better team tonight than we did last week. So, it is time to rewards the guys who did their bit.

Team: D
We were so much better than we have been that there is little comparison. However, we came up against a hungry bunch with real talent. We even had the better of their much vaunted mid field but still couldn't make it.
Votes:
[2.5] Bell
[2.5] Simpson
[2] Cripps
[1.5] Rowe
[1.5] White
[1] Carrazzo
[1] Curnow
[1] Docherty
[1] Everitt
[0.5] Tuohy
[0.5] Armfield
Explanations:
[2.5] Bell: Tommy makes some terrible errors: dropping chest marks, for example. However, he did well and was excellent in the packs. He got heaps of contested ball.
[2.5] Simpson: Excellent in defence and in the middle, he kept his opponents down and got the ball himself.
[2] Cripps: Cripps really showed his class. he did some excellent things and really shows maturity, hard work and the ability to get the contested ball.
[1.5] Rowe: Franklin kicked 4 on him in 3.5 quarters, but Rowe really did a fine job for most of that time.
[1.5] White: After a nightmare first 15 ninutes, White did really well for the rest of the night and really flogged Tippett.
[1] Carrazzo: Not at 100 % yet, but he did well in the crunches and he kept his opponents quiet for extended periods.
[1] Curnow: Like Carrots, Ed got the ball a lot in the packs and kept his opponents down for long periods of the game. Not as effective as last week, but he really put in.
[1] Docherty: He plays like he cares.
[1] Everitt: Much improved over recent weeks, he was much more intense. However, he gives up when the ball is much too close to him. As a forward he was excellent.
[0.5] Tuohy: Tried hard and was solid.
[0.5] Armfield: Jetta got away from him for a while, but Armfield was good and always in the play.
Honourable Mentions:
Graham: Probably his most effective game for the seniors. he was in the packs and playing much more like he does at VFL level. Still can do better, as he did nothing outside and found it difficult to stop his man, but he gave a much more realistic view of his potential.
Wood: Struggled against his opponent in the centre square, but really tried hard.
Buckley: Did quite well when he came on and showed much more idea of how to play further up the ground. He looked more interested and his pace and willingness to take risks was good.
Other Comments:
Menzel: Not fit. Shouldn't have played.
Jones: disastrous for him. Showed nothing.
Our forward line: Nonexistent.
Team E:
4: Bell....led the onball division
3: Cripps...the future, classy coalface ballwinner
3: Wood..thought he was good and both Pyke and Tippett were average as ruckman, clearance work is started by Wood IMO and thats our one winning area.
1: Everitt....some good goals and he can use the ball
1: Docherty...kept up his good form, attacked the ball well
1: Rowe...battled hard
1: Armfield... tried
1: Simpson..brave as usual
Bell dropped 3 chest marks tonight. If he is our best player god help us.

Thry...you and I are seeing the game from the same perspective each week.. ;)....glad to see you also recognized Woods contribution 8)
I think we both acknowledge the quiet achievers. wood once again in the handful that won their battle this week. Thought Curnow went a long way to curbing hannebury who got a bit lucky to get away from him but fortune favours the brave.

He actually drops a few chest marks quite regularly. It irritates me no end. However, it is something we have to train him out of.
Last night Belly was certainly not alone in dropping a mark. We had others who couldn't keep their feet, or hit a barn.
