MCG
I was looking forward to this game - until tonight, that is.
I reckon, if we get a couple back, we are a chance.
Hope someone KOs that smarta*se Tyrone Vickery!!
Maric should get suspended.
Hopefully Cripps is right to go. This will be a great test for the kid against a midfield which is a class above what he's been playing against.
We'll need players back and yo be far, far cleaner with the ball and a lot to go right but Richmond has struggled against us before, you never know.
Last time the Bulldogs beat us, 2013, and we were crap that day, we nailed Richmond the next week. Omens are good...lol!
Reckon we can win that one. Our record is good, and we're playing decent footy. Even our current worst, with a heap of players out, was enough to get within 11 pts of the 7th side. Back to normal and we're right in it, especially if we get a few back.
Cripps and Everitt must be doubtful, and they are huge losses if they don't come up.
Rowe should be right to return and Gibbs is available. As for the rest, who knows?
Too many injuries though I'd give us a chance with Gibbs, Carazzo and Docherty back in. Provided Cripps and Everitt can play.
Back to back 6 day breaks.
Back to back 6 days breaks with both games at Etihad, there will be a lot of sore boys. I really hope they don't play Cripps, give the kid a chance - would be horrified if they play him sore and he rips the ligament completely and needs an ankle reco
We're at the G this week. Haven't seen the incident but will Cotchin go??
I hate playing partly fit players. I don't think we need to risk Cripps: we are not going to play finals. But I seem to be in the minority with that opinion. I guess the medical staff will determine that issue. Hopefully.
As for Richmond, they have a couple of guys who should be suspended. However, as they do not wear Blue guernseys that is unlikely to occur. We have lost guys for 1 or 2 weeks with similar incidents, but .... Maric could argue the same way: he should go, but will he?
I am not worried about it. If we are to play well against them, I'd rather beat their ones, not their twos. And I would like to make an impression against the guys who did well against us last time, even though we shut down most of their better players.
Cripps will play, Everitt a bit 50/50.
Actually looking forward to this game. No pressure on us other than to continue our improvement and not get blown out of the water. Under Malthouse in round 1 we only went down by 5 goals and at times looked like we could win the game so anything is possible. Think we're better on paper this time round but the short double break will hurt us. We looked pretty shot at the end of the doggies game.
Maric is out, which will help us hugely. Cotchin got off: I am not sure how. Schultz got nothing. Gibbs must be thinking what we all are: we were screwed.
Maric is a big loss......reckon we are a decent chance this week if we can get 3-4 of our better players back. Tigers just fell in last game and look ripe for the picking...
A lot of footy is about timing, catching teams with key players missing and at the end of a winning cycle.....Tigers have been up and are due to lose some games....
Hope we don't play any injured players.
No need.
We might not win anyway.
Riewoldt is playing great footy, almost inspirational........which isn't something I'd thought I'd never say.
Nick Graham out for 3 weeks. Really bad luck for his continuity and improvement. It has come at a really bad time for the kid. Needs to be replaced with another kid.
Bad luck for Graham as he was showing the form we knew he could produce, well most of us anyway...I guess Boekhorst might get another game....I'd promote and play Walsh..
Oh FFS. What happened??
Listed as 'foot' on the injury list.
Finally get some game time and.... Friggin Etihad.
McKay described the problem as a 'stress reaction'. It's terrible timing as Graham was really showing what he is capable of.
On the positive side, it seems that Rowe, Docherty, Carrazzo and Menzel will be available and Everitt could be OK. Cripps seems to have escaped serious injury but they may take a conservative approach.
ive have said that etihad is killing our club on and off field..
Did anyone see in the game against Adelaide they showed him on the bench and he basically had every toe on his foot band-aided up and he was changing the band aids when they showed him sitting there. Maybe he's got blisters or something? I wonder what sort of injury would require that kind of thing?
I couldn't hear McKay clearly but I'm pretty sure that he said Graham has had an issue with his foot but this latest injury is unrelated.
It is a real pity for Nick Graham, but now Bryce Gibbs has to perform to at least the same standard as his replacement.
Fortunately Nick has now shown enough to be viewed as a part of our midfield future.
Absolutely. He has made sure he will be with us in 2016.
Yup, another advantage of Mick being gone. Graham would have been gone by years end with little to no opportunity and gone on to dominate at another club.
Not just with Graham. I suspect we will continue to see more from other players in the future. All that being said, this game against the Tigers could come close to one of the hardest games we see this season.
Agree Mants. The Tigers game could be a defining one for our team. Let's hope we are switched on!
In
Tom Fields, Andrew Carrazzo, Bryce Gibbs, Troy Menzel
Out
Mark Whiley (Omitted), Nick Graham (Foot), Blaine Johnson (Omitted), Blaine Boekhorst (Omitted)
New
Tom Fields
Interesting selections!
Carrazzo, Gibbs and Menzel are back and Fields makes his debut.
Whiley, Boekhorst and Johnson are omitted and Graham is out with his foot stress reaction. No surprises there.
Rowe is an emergency and Tutt keeps his spot :o
Trigg wants to try a few things: Tom to bomb long to our talls in the centre square!
Hopefully they don't try White on Riewoldt again.
Reckon Fields is a long shot but looking forward to seeing an fresh face.
Definitely one tall short in the Backline for this game.
Disappointed to not see Everitt get over his injury. Our forward line was poor last game except for him. Gulp.
Everitt is in the selected side Baggers.
Backs 7. Dylan Buckley 40. Michael Jamison 43. Simon White
Half-backs 42. Zach Tuohy 13. Chris Yarran 37. Tom Fields
Centreline 6. Kade Simpson 44. Andrew Carrazzo 4. Bryce Gibbs
Half-forwards 28. Tom Bell 23. Lachie Henderson 27. Dennis Armfield
Forwards 33. Andrejs Everitt 41. Levi Casboult 2. Troy Menzel
Followers 8. Matthew Kreuzer 3. Marc Murphy 9. Patrick Cripps
Interchange 35. Ed Curnow 20. Nick Holman 22. Jason Tutt
36. Cameron Wood
Emergencies 12. Blaine Boekhorst 17. Sam Rowe 24. Mark Whiley
I hope Trigg has no input into our selection process.
Play him as a goal kicking half back flanker :D
Swann was on the MC.... Hopefully Trigg wasn't silly enough to carry this on.
You would have to think Rowe will play.... I suspect Everitt mightn't.
Everitt helps our forward line, but we do need a 2nd tall defender.
I am amazed Tutt retains his spot.
Perhaps Trigg
is on the match committee ::)
Agree...Rowe in and Everitt to miss...
re: Fields...good decision to play him and we need another taller back who can kick the footy and I reckon he can make the grade
from the couple of NB's games I have seen him play..
The MC and Barker are doing the right thing and playing the kids and the results dont matter IMO...its about the future.
Hampson's playing, we must be some chance.
couldnt agree more. I'd much rather Tutt playing with his mate Liam.
Nice to see young Tom Fields get his chance ...he can clearly roost the footy...can he play the game??? Lot of responsibility on the HBF with their quick half forwards...read Edwards...fingers crossed...Good Luck Boy ;)
I agree. The lad doesn't just kick well, he links up well and often gets a lot of the ball. He is a bit dubious against a strong marking option, especially a really big one. He doesn't just bomb the ball, but hits chests at 50+ m with a quick kick, not a thing that spends 2 centuries in the air.
Could be good Crash from what you've described..I'm excited...but don't tell anyone ;)
A member of the leadership group who has been in fair form, doesn't miss one week through back stiffness then comes back via the twos. Worst telegraphed last minute change ever!!
Yes congrats to the lad, be pretty exciting for him first game in front of a large crowd.
Good luck, maybe the 'woof' might return....aaaah the memories. ::)
I am all for new kids with potential getting games over those that have had many opportunities and showed minimal return. Need to develop the next generation. ;)
I agree there Mantis.
I reckon SOS might be having a bit of input into the team selections too.
Give him some idea about what these young blokes might be able to do.
Woof?
I think we are definitely having a look at the kids on our list whilst at the same tme trying to get a win if possible, or at least avoid a flogging.
Is that for the coach or Fields? ;)
