Title: Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane In Game Anxiety
Post by: crashlander on August 15, 2015, 05:42:21 pm
With the game not being on free to air TV tonight, I am not going to see a single minute of it, win, lose or draw. So, with the game about to start, I thought I'd start up the In Game Thread.
Those of you who are seeing the game, I hope you can enjoy it. I will sitting and stewing in my own juices.

Being in Bris we can see on Fox, but not sure that's a good thing

Holman sub, Cripps playing - don't think there are any late changes.

Walker actually looks like he "belongs" tonight.
He's directing others and moving well.

Rowe doing well in the ruck. Couple of clearances.

Smith pressuring up forward like Eddie/Jeffy used to do.

Someone forgot to tell the boys we are tanking!

Was just thinking the same, always liked Walker there

Playing 'opposites' today.

Walker forward.
Hendo back.
Jaksch forward.
Rowe forward/ruck.

Even Docherty up forward.

Problem with all of that is, that is pretty much all of those players best positions.

Why do that in a game we want to lose?

If the idea is your kind of thing, you can listen to it via the AFL website. I'm rather fond of experiencing AFL footy this way. Like the way I used to listen on the radio years ago.

Strange I live in Bris and there has been no rain for a while, so many players can't seem to keep there feet? Both teams playing skill wise as per the ladder positions

Good to see Clem Smith creating some forward pressure ala Eddie back in the day

Would I be wrong in saying that Sam Rowe is one of the worst players on our list?
Title: Re: Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane In Game Anxiety

I should mention that earlier on Curnow was flattened after we kicked a goal. Very impressed to see a few boys run to his side. Smith and Whiley being 2 that went in straight away.

Good to see the 'stick up for your mate' message is finally getting through.

Yes.

Dick
Ellard

Warnock

Should i continue? Gets a little depressing after a while.

Playing well, still some work to do, but showing plenty IMO.

Already Jaksch looks more like a tall forward than Hendo ...lots to learn and has to get some strength, but thinks and presents the way you'd want a tall forward to.
Title: Re: Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane In Game Anxiety
Post by: Brettie on August 15, 2015, 08:37:30 pm
So how many goalless quarters does that make it this year?
Title: Re: Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane In Game Anxiety
Post by: Robblues on August 15, 2015, 08:39:07 pm
Jaksch certainly is a better option than Jones, a good preseason in the gym would give him the extra strength needed for a key forward, but promising. That being said , opposition is average.
Title: Re: Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane In Game Anxiety
Post by: blue4life on August 15, 2015, 08:41:21 pm
Another one of those lost quarters we specialise in.
Not all bad though, Jaksch is actually showing something, moving well but his kicking lacks confidence.
Smith looks like a real footballer, could be the first good player we've snagged outside the top 50 since Hoops, Buckley continues to grow.
Kreuzer has been great but I've counted one mark between Everitt, Rowe and Henderson, our key position woes continue.
Yarran and Menzel must really be in the bad books if Ellard and Dick are playing ahead of them.

"Garage Sale"

Cheap football players that are rated as forward that cannot play as forwards.

S. Rowe, L. Henderson, L. Jones package includes Dick, as a defender that can't get his hands on the ball. Swap with your 3rd rounder and take the lot.

I cannot believe we are once again at the level of struggling against a bunch of utter hackmeisters. I know about our outs, but f*$king hell...............

And anyone who thinks that the tanking will all be worth it, as if we can just flick a switch next season and start a winning culture..............

4 qtr efforts are really lacking in this current line up. Walker , Buckley etc who in the first qtr were our key players MIA in the second.

Notice the team spirit for Bris when when West kicked his goal, who has  been out for a while, we dont seem to have that at all. Just about every Bris player was ther. We don't have that energy.

I like Everitt's forward work and goal kicking nous but his defensive efforts are weak as the proverbial.

Yes real sad, no energy re tackling at all, seems disinterested when he hasn't got the ball

He played some brilliant tagging roles under Mick.

I just think its his fitness. He works so hard up forward that he is completely stuffed on defence.

Don't know what it is, if it's his fitness it goes back to the coaches. Don't think he has missed games this year, so if not injured, lack of dedication?

10 goals straight to Bris after our 6 in the first quarter, its lapses like this will kill any chance Barker had re coaching position

Probably gave the club a bit of a fright but methinks mission accomplished. Not only equal wins with Brisbane but almost certain to have a lower percentage after we were something like 10-15% ahead of them not that long ago.

On a side note, can't believe we're collecting another spoon

OK, we let the lions get so far in front we couldn't possibly win.

Then we kicked 3 in 3 minutes. Now its 6 goal margin with 1/4 to play.

'Managed' to perfection?

Live ladder shows us officially on bottom.

Goal to Walker , he has looked good up forward at times, you get a distinct feeling that the players are just playing out the season , many might not be back, I would have thought they would be doing there best to get a gig some where next season. Horsham reserves maybe
