Carlton star Chris Yarran is not attending the Blues' best-and-fairest count on Thursday night.
The Blues confirmed on Thursday Yarran was at home in Perth with family and had informed the club that he would not be attending the John Nicholls Medal at Crown Palladium.
Quote
Lachie Henderson will also miss the count. The players' non-attendance can be read as a statement that they want to leave the club.

I saw something on Twitter about Trigg telling Kruez how much we want him? And then there was massive applause. Was that a good thing to do? Or awkward?
Well done Cripps! What a year he had!

2nd year and a B&F...third year maybe a Charlie. If not it won't be far away. Great stuff Crippa, congratulations.
Congratulations young Crippa.... What an impressive season. B & F, Runner up Rising star, Best 22 under 22, 8th contested possession in AFL, Chris Judd award..... And just 20 years of age with a mere 23 or so games to his name. For mine, this exceptional performance is nothing short of Juddlike. I've no doubt he'll lead his young teammates by example and be an exemplary leader, and likely Charlie recipient. Can we sign him on a very long contract please? :P Bring on his partnership with BB and a strong (stronger) list.

From what I understand of the voting system, players who do the job asked of them are rewarded. By all measures, Tuohy was down on previous years and didn't show the run and flair that made him more of an offensive weapon than dour defender. If that was playing to instructions, as the voting suggests, it is an indictment of our coaches. However, it also suggests that Tuohy is perhaps more versatile than we give him credit for.
It will be interesting to see how he is used next season and how he responds/develops.

Fantastic win by Crippa. B+F, R/U in the Rising Star. Very happy the recruiters at least got this one so, so right. Would've been nice to see a tie between him and Murph.
Surprised to see 2E poll so high, and Doc poll so low. And Curnow ? How would've thought ?

I agree with that, he liked the freedom Barker gave him but are we to ignore Yarran and Henderson went the other way after Mick left?
I reckon Hendo has been poo for quite sometime TBH. Most overrated player to play at our club for the last 2-3 years. Even under Ratten he was okay, showed promise but never really fulfilled it.

1. Patrick Cripps 68 votes (Games 20) 2. Marc Murphy 67 (Games 19) 3. Zach Tuohy 64 (Games 22) 4. Tom Bell 57 (Games 22) 4. Ed Curnow 57 (Games 22) 6. Sam Docherty 48 (Games 19) 7. Kade Simpson 45 (Games 20) 8. Andrejs Everitt 37 (Games 22) 9. Simon White 35 (Games 14) 10. Andrew Carrazzo 23 (Games 16)
Number of games is obviously a factor....it's why there is actually even more of a gap between the top 2 and the rest. Following instructions or filling a role (sometimes at the expense of your own game) would be another it's why the count sometimes throws up the odd "who would have thought...." result.

Indeed. As much as I'm happy for Curnow et al to earn a place in the top 10, it is an indictment on our list when that happens.
Frankly, the fact that Carrazzo ended up on 16 games and retired in his final year and in our top 10 is a bigger concern.
Maybe the game plan wasnt the problem but rather how it was adhered to?
IN any case, lets just hope it gets better next year, although I have fears that it might be another tough year unless we get some growth pretty quickly.

Good work by Cripps, bad luck for the skipper missing the last few games but those are the breaks. I'm rapt to see Tuohy, Curnow and Bell do so well, three rookies that we plucked from nowhere and they finish top 5. I hope Bell has silenced the doubters with that effort, he's vital to our future and so is Tuohy. They both have lots of improvement still to come, but so does Cripps which is bordering on scary.

Sounds from various reports that he is already the voice of the team on the ground.
Perhaps we need to make some of the church mice leaders and force them to take some responsibility for their future!
Did the British Officer Class have the right idea when they lined up the Enlisted or Conscripted on the front line? They fought or they died!

Congratulations to Cripps. A shining light in a thoroughly dismal year.
Many of the other top 10 show where we are at as a club, and it is easy to see the direct correlation between this list and our ladder position. Many of our players are just not up to standard, for reasons that fill the pages of this forum.
Hoping for improvement in 2016, and to building a team around the likes of our B&F winner. I hope we don't make him captain too soon. There is enough pressure on him.

Ummm, no. That's a bridge too far. We'll take an extra year or two getting up the ladder doing things like that. Kids need experience around them to develop properly otherwise they're thrown to the wolves, taking the heat themselves as skinny, inexperienced kids. Might set them back rather than help them.

Zach Tuohy, Carlton’s cheeky Irishman with the long leg, finished third in the Blues’ 2015 best and fairest count, polling 64 votes.
It was a close race for 'Big Nic', with only four points separating the top three place-getters: winner Patrick Cripps finished with 68 votes and runner-up Marc Murphy with 67.
Since joining Carlton in 2010 as an international rookie, it’s the highest Tuohy has polled in the John Nicholls Medal.
The defender was one of only four Blues to play every game this season, providing much-needed consistency and acting as a rock in Carlton’s defense.
After becoming a father for the first time last year, Tuohy praised his partner Bec for doing all the “heavy lifting” when it came to parenting duties during the season, allowing him to have a consistent year.
“Any good form I had this year I owe to her (Bec), she’s probably been the reason I’ve strung some quality games together,” he said.
The 25-year-old luckily didn’t forget to thank his parents, who have always supported him, even from the other side of the world.
“I owe everything to my parents. They are hard-working people and I doubt I’d be where I am if it weren’t for them.
“This is very much their accomplishment as it is mine.”
The hard-running defender was clearly humbled to accept the award in what has been a difficult year for the Club.
“Even through the bad times I consider myself very lucky I play for Carlton, I wouldn’t want to play for anyone else – I’m constantly honoured.
“I have made it my job and my mission to do whatever it takes to get this club back up to where it needs to be,” he said.
Since making his debut in Round 11, 2011, Tuohy has notched up 98 AFL games in the navy blue jumper. He says it’s going to be an “incredible honour” to have his name engraved on the No. 42 locker and join a Carlton great.
“Obviously Robert Walls is a legend of the Club so to have my name on the locker forever is a little bit surreal,” he said.
“It still doesn’t quite seem real, even though it’s only two games away, so hopefully I can keep my body right and my form good so I get those two games in the navy jumper.”
Need more of these types at the club.

As the only person who got Touhy as a possible contender I am going to claim some knowledge about football until I make some prediction which actually demonstrates my complete lack of understanding and knowledge. All those who are advocating a scorched earth policy should recognize that if we had retained Kennedy, Waite, Gartlett, Betts, Jacobs, Robertson, Laidler and probably Maclean, and kept them with our core playing group of Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Kreuzer, Touhy, Buckley, Henderson, Yarran, Jamison, Walker, Docherty, Everett, Curnow, Bell, etc. we would have a team that would be challenging for the Cup this year. But because of impatience and poor decision making, we have added to our cutlery draw. I think we should be building from what we have got and trying to take the opportunities as they present themselves instead of constantly changing and throwing the baby out with the bath water. Keep Gibbs, Murphy and Kreuzer and stop eating our own.

I definitely agree we'd be better off but...
I think we'd be in the 8 keeping pace with richmond maybe but pushing for the premiership... I don't think so. Team is still pretty short in the midfield and if we're close to the salary cap now how would we fit them in?

We have a lot of work to do, and had we not recruited Judd as suggested by Kreuzer and Kennedy being part of our side, we might never have even done what we did and might resemble Melbourne more closely..
