Our first game at Etihad for some time. We have shown we can play the MCG better this year: can we make the fast rack at Etihad a 'fortress' as well?
Who knows? But I can hope. I'll be at the game, so enjoy....
Casboult has just done his knee ala Judd in a marking contest.
:'(
Not looking too shabby at the mo.
Our first poster.
Walker needs to find some form soon, otherwise he'll be playing in the 2's. Been pretty woeful in the 5 quarters he's played lately.
Casboult out for the game apparently - left knee is iced on the outside.
This will be a good chance to see how valuable or otherwise Casboult is. I'm guessing the former.
Not surprising after time out. Probably should've come back through there
Great, yet another red-time goal given up.
Could be a long day if we let them roger us around the ball like that.
Kerridge has cost us. Jamo looks lost at times. Walker rusty as all heck. And that's probably Casboult's season.
They're killing us at the clearances and contested footy.
From what I can tell on the radio, Murph seems to be heavily involved.
2E goal - Booya !
Casboult hyperextension of his left knee. Exact injury unknown.
Hyperextension you will be sore, but can play on.
He's done for the day which suggests more.
From the very first moment i saw it, it seemed to me to be a carbon copy of Juddy doing his knee. Twisting for a mark in he air and landing awkwardly with the knee giving way.
Fair enough - just going by the official report on the radio.
At this rate we will end up with Murphy in the Ruck. Anyone over 195cm is in danger of going to Hospital. FMD.
Now Krooz is injured. Geez.........
And another goal. Good, bad.........
We might be rucking the American next week..lol!
Kreuzer rucking solo.
Copped a whack into the ribs/sternum, was down for a good 60 seconds before taking the next ruck contest.
5 minutes later gets up sore from a marking contest holding his knee. Straight to the bench.
Given the injuries this blokes has had over the journey, is it smart to have him rucking 1 out all day, especially since his only backup is our only key forward....who is also injured.
Need Phillips back!
Rowe was moved forward to cover Casboult.
Now moved into the middle to play ruck.
So we are short, down back, up forward and in the ruck! If we pull this one off its a miracle.
Spider junior is playing well.
We should call him the BOS - brother of Spida.
Blues showing good fight.
Evened up the clearances - 17 apiece
So far, our goal kicking has been reasonably on target.
...because casboult is off the ground. ;)
Jaksch will probably play next week, wish we had played him this week. His contested marking is terrific and would be handy right now.
kreuzer back on....
20 seconds later Plowman cleaned up in a marking contest. Knee into the back/kidneys.
Its not our day folks.
Walker drops another mark. That's 3 by my count.
Been terrible, non existant almost. Not good enough for a senior player.
Too rusty after missing alot of weeks. Rushed him back too quickly. That's the selector''s fault, not his, he's not ready.
Casboult walked past the commentrars, limping, but no crutches - a sign that maybe the injury is not serious ?
Small forward line worked well.
Played our best footy as Rowe as Ruck.
Just looking at both sides at half-time.....They're stuffed
It must be taking a bit of a toll and the side that wins might be the one that handles that the best.
Port killing us with their run. To bs fair we held them up for 15 minutes but our errors let them kick that goal late.
By the way this is why you play Everitt.
I dunno if its just me but Kerridge is getting worse by the week. Start the NAB games like a house on fire but has gotten worse every game. His disposal has been awful. Am I being harsh?
Commentators praising our mid field work rate - saying need to lower the eyes in the 2nd half.
Shocking luck for Levi, let's hope it's not too bad but it doesn't look good.
Playing well again but it's hard to see us winning a man short, particularly a key forward.
Umpiring very good, letting the game run and not paying every little free kick, good to see.
Byrne continues to impress.
I like his endeavour. I think his problem is he saves his worst clangers for the most crucial times. :-\
Yes, Port have been conceding the ruck in recent weeks... makes it a more random event.
You are not being harsh. He is terrible. I have no idea what he offers that Nick Graham doesn't.
He's a battler at best.
Unfortunately for us, I can see th merit of his endeavor
At the game and crowd went crazy chanting Krooze when he returned to the field just before half time. No doubt his a fan favorite.
Hope we are not playing him if his not right out of desperation.
Will be very unfair and questions will be asked if he sustains a worse injury in the second half.
Has a massive heart and won't go half paced which is a worry if his not 100%
Walker useless. Seems to forgot the basics.
Jamo looks slow and past it too.
Lot of heart boys are showing
Walker needs to extract the digit pretty rapidly.
Our disposal efficiency higher than Port's, to half time.
Woosha ran off the ground after doing his ACL.
I've torn my ACL playing bball. I limped off the court. Very sore. GP/scans showed nothing.
I tore my ACL soon after playing netball. I limped off, very sore. Didn't go to the docs.
I completely snapped my ACL soon after playing netball again. Walked off. Very little pain at all.
Sometimes no pain is actually a worse sign.
Scores level.
Not for long.
Dominating the 3rd q clearances thus far - 13-6. Good sign.
I wondered if you get punched in the head in a contest do you still get a free kick? Lamb copped a good one in the goal square.
Dominating play and the territorial battle at the moment.
Army and Rowe both kick behinds.
Incedental contact. He got the ball first, the follow through is what hit him.
Krooooooooz
Back from the dead and puts us in front by a point
Bloody Wingard.
Cripps knee - geez..........
and Byrne as well...............
Byrne getting leg strapped up.
Cripps holding his knee after getting cleaned up in a marking contest.
Going to struggle to field a team next week.
Tackling has been great today.
What the hell is going on with all the knees ? In one game ?
Walker couldnt find the strength to kick it 35m and over the pack? Seriously.
It was accidental but roundhouse got him straight in the chops.
Yes re tackling. Knees/injuries are making me throw cans at the TV (almost)
Alot of domination, territory, forward pressure for little reward. Missing that marking target. Jones certainly doesn't provide the same presence as Casboult.
Port didn't go forward much but when they broke the press it was always open and not hard to kick goals.
Rowe and Gibbs have been very good, from what I can tell on the radio.
And Simpson and the Doc.
Rowe has been very good given that he has been asked to play 2 roles today he doesn't normally do.
....and on queue...
Big Mark by rowe at the top of the goal square. Goals.
....and Cripps back!
We hit the front.
Rowe has been good today since being asked to ruck and go forward.
Now not to give it back right away.
EDIT: Again for the 3rd time an instant reply.
ANy danger of maintaining a lead for more than 2 minutes?
Bloody hell - another Port goal.
And thats the ball game. Shame really, we had a chance to win it.
Jamison = liability. Cooked.
Defensive errors will beat us today.
Yes - we don't have the legs to claw back 3 goals.
I know he is giving away kgs but that effort was terrible.
That 3rd qtr defensive pressure is gone.
He's been a great player and stalwart for our club, but yes, it seems as though the end is nigh.
Today is his 150th ?
Phukkkk! Needed that.
I thought the AFL ditched the sub rule?
Why does Liam Jones only turn up in the last quarter?
Jones is better than last year at least
11 points down - no way we can pinch this, can we ?
Boys are not giving up. Sumner with a chance to put us 4 points down.
Goal!
They certainly don't give this version of Carlton.
We now need to take a mark in front of goals with 30 sec to go so they can't reply right way..lol.
Unbelievable
2mins 10sec to go, and my radio signal craps out
!@#$%%^^&*)_ !!!!!
Full time 93-91 unbelievable victory.
That was a good a win as it gets. Might be the game that makes this version of the Carlton Footy Club.
Hey mods, let's close this thread and move over to the Post Game.
Well I'll be forked!!!
Go Blues.
