Docherty simply stunning today, apologies to Wright, Cripps, Tuohy, Kerridge and a few more, an outstanding team effort.

You had a visitation by the Cybermen? :)
No - I wanted to post in the after game discussion and clicked on the wrong thread.
Team: A
I talked myself into it. To have the guys go down against the team that expects to play finals and to come back like we did probably deserves an A. But for much of the game I wasn’t going to award one. We had a lot of guys below their best early. But we really kept at it, and when the chips were down, we rallied and triumphed. Yeah!!!!
Votes:
My usual caveat after a game like this: I need more than 15 votes to reward those who really put in today. But 15 votes is all that I have, so I should shut up and get on with it.
[2.5] Gibbs
[2.5] Docherty
[2] Kreuzer
[1.5] Cripps
[1.5] Curnow
[1] Everitt
[1] Rowe
[1] Murphy
[1] Simpson
[0.5] Wright
[0.5] Plowman
Explanations:
[2.5] Gibbs: Bryce was one of very few 4 quarter players for us. His was a consistent and excellent effort, especially early when the midfield situation wasn’t really working for us.
[2.5] Docherty: Pretty good all day, really, but he lifted hugely when the game was on the line. He had 13 marks and more possessions than anyone else on the ground, as well as keeping his opponent quiet.
[2] Kreuzer: While he got a lot of taps all day, Trengove was on top of him early and the Port mids were getting too many clearances from our taps. However, the change in his game was when he went off with an ankle injury. He came back and started making a difference. He took Trengove out of the game and started getting the ball himself. The momentum in the middle changed and we started getting the ball out. He really worked like a Trojan, and kicking the winning goal was a fitting reward for a guy who could barely get off the ground but would not let that stop him.
[1.5] Cripps: Crippa really struggled with his injury, but like Kreuzer, he just kept going and getting the ball.
[1.5] Curnow: I would like to give Curnow more than double this number of votes. He was a great worker all day and not only kept his direct opponent quiet but really hurt them the other way.
[1] Everitt: Again, we saw the best and the not quite so good from Everitt, but he really stood up when we needed a forward target. He may have dropped out of the game somewhat (and he made a terrible mistake in the last quarter that could have been lethal), but he steadied and kicked 3 important goals.
[1] Rowe: Solid in defence, but changed the game when he went into the ruck: he disrupted the Port midfield structure. He was dangerous as a forward and did some very important things.
[1] Murphy: Not perhaps the brilliant game that we might have expected from Murphy a few years back, but a really solid one. A real leader’s effort.
[1] Simpson: Not Simmo’s best game, but he lifted and managed to keep his man quiet in the process.
[0.5] Wright: Solid and dependable, especially in tight.
[0.5] Plowman: Had a variety of roles and really did them well. A big improvement over last week on both taller and smaller opponents.
Honourable Mentions:
Tuohy: Started very slowly, but worked into the game and became really important in the second half.
Thomas: A solid game, where his disposal improved a lot as the game went on.
Armfield: Quiet early, but really provided a spark with his pace and enthusiasm in the 3rd quarter.
Kerridge: Probably his quietest game for us, he also kept at it and was rewarded for doing so.
Lamb: Continues to improve.
How wonderful to have the problem of too many excellent performances to choose from, very cool.

Docherty is fast turning into our most important backman - reads the play so well and his dash out of the backline is super impressive. Still not faultless, but rarely beaten 1 on 1.
I snuck Sam Rowe in because I think he did a great job helping in the ruck and was more than useful when he went forward.

Notice this years voting trends, most are giving a wide spread of votes which is a really good sign of improved team effort. Nobody stands out as significantly better than those around them, although a number of players are models of consistency in 2016 compared to previous years.

Last chance for voting approaching! I've updated the spreadsheet, but I won't lock the thread yet. I'll probably update things on Saturday morning: knee surgery tomorrow, so I probably won't be functioning like normal. :)

Good luck with the surgery Crash, any type of surgery sucks. Best wishes
No worries. Updating the spreadsheet now.
Surgery went well: something similar to what Kreuzer lived through. :) I was wondering if we got done by the same surgeon....
