I won't have time in the morning before the game, so I'd best get this up now. Enjoy.
Some terrific ball movement from us today.
I'm listening on the radio - Brisbane's form today sounds crap.
As has been discussed many times on here, winning is bad for business.
Walker a tough hit on Christensen. The latter sounds in a bad way.
Walker is fine. Ball was there.
The radio commentators also saying the hit was perfectly fine.
We have been really impressive today. Playing smart football, don't think I have said that about us for 20 years.
We could and should be playing better. Getting smashed in midfield imo.
Bris missed 4 /5 easy goals.
The only downside is that one of my multi beta is in danger as I needed us to win by 1-39
On the plus side.... Everything else
We have been helped by Brisbane and their terrible indecision even when in front of goal. We are also helped by us not getting punished for the first 10 minutes, but since then we have been fantastic and fully deserve a comfortable lead.
Weitering my end up with 60 marks by the end of this game such is his dominance.
We now need to make sure we take this chance to keep pushing hard and break Brisbane. They are mentally a bit susceptible and if we play this 100% commitment game plan then we win by at least 12 goals, that is what the good teams do.
C'mon Blues!!
Some of our best performers this year are having a quiet game by their standards.
Gibbs (7 touches)
Thomas (7)
Doc (6)
and obviously without Murphy playing.
It's hard to see who is standing up and replacing them.
Graham (7) in for Murphy hasn't filled the hole.
Still the boys are playing as a unit and getting the job done.....except for Rockliff who has 26 touches to half time!
The boys on the radio were saying most of Rockliff's touches are useless, and Sellers indicated that as Curnow is tagging Rich, the Carlton brains trust reckon his touches are more damaging, and prefer Rockliff having the ball.
Useless or not, first game back and on track for 50+ is a fair effort.
I think it is to our advantage that Bell is playing for Brisbane too. Only 1 kick and 2 handballs and 2 clangers from that = only 1 possession found didn't go to the opposition!
maybe - the radio guys were saying that some players absolutely relish playing against their old club, others dread it. Saying Bell is in the latter category.
Some talk about Krooz off and Gorringe looking proppy ?
Apparently Krooz was "sick" and expected to return.
Tv commentators just noticed kreuzer not out there
Weeters getting terrific wraps from the commentators.
Just started watching, didnt see the first half. We look terrible at the minute.
Kreuzer confirmed as crook at half time by to commentary team.
Still off the ground - is he in the rooms or on the bench ?
No Kreuzer, No Carlton
I havent seen Gibbs touch it.
Apparently Kreuzer is actually sick , not knees etc, so guess that's a good think
This is one area we need to improve - can't rely so much on one player.
Robbo and Rocky are smashing us.
Very lack lustre game,, no Gibbs , Thomas several others very quiet. Ball is going Lions way , they are doing all the attacking
Can't see him on the bench but not sure.
It's not the ruck killing us, Rowe has been serviceable. we've dropped off across the midfield.
After last week, probably a lot to expect a follow up performance. As i said elsewhere, boys played last week like a GF.
Winning on the counter attack, nice goal to Rowe, needed that for sure.
Really sloppy
It is Brisbane playing the more desperate football by far this quarter
We have been second to the ball most of the quarter
Hopefully just an aberration and so far has only cost us 12 points
But this is a real wake up call that a game is not done at half time
One thing really killing us today is smothered kicks. Most not under pressure too
Nice to see Kerridge picking up the pace this qtr missing in the first have, nice goal to top it off
What's wrong with MK?
Tired legs after last week ?
all I know listening on the radio is that he's "sick'".
Nope just not going back far enough after a mark or waiting too long in general play
Took their best then delivred the knock out blows.
Not yet 3/4 time. I know it's Brisbane, but the early crow..........
EDIT : and given the recent news on Ali, I see what you did there.
I was always a bit of a wrap re Bell, kicked some goals at times , but boy he seems to have gone backwards at the Lions
Broke even on the scoreboard but we didn't look good for the first 10 minutes. Good fight back though and it there was one positive in that quarter it was that Weitering has returned to his best and took some really good intercept marks.
He bagged 4 goals last week and has been ok most of the season. But clearly having an off week or being played by whoever is matching up on him today
Ok cheers Barbs
Got the feeling that Bell didn't want to leave Carlton, he at least tried when he was with us.
On Fox Kruezer vomiting in the rooms, might be done for the day
Report from fox team is Kreuzer still hugging porcelain at three quarter time. Wont be back
Bad miss by Walker, should eat those
Kreuzer is having a beer in the social club.
Had the fast break , ran on to it, tried the fancy kick , and missed
needs a few lessons from Eddie.
Awesome goal on a tight angle for Curnow!
Put walker to shame
Curnow runs and runs, then thank you very much..... Goal
Great boomerang goal from the boundary line from Currnow, had a great afternoon
He's is in Dunstall's dribble file for sure.
Getting a pretty rough deal from the umpires again this week.
Christensen taken to hospital for scans - doesn't sound good at all.
Nice effort Rowe near the boundary
Blues by 46, 14min left
On his collarbone though. Good hit from walker
Graham is sloppy of late
All the time and space in forward line. Nice finish wright goal
Certainly have created some great goals from the fast breaks today, our big forwards have had a sorry day, Everritt, Casboult, Kruezer , walker
Straight kicking really makes the team look so professional.
Had 7 goals today from our new recruits
3 to lamb, 2 to wright and 1 each to Gorringe and Kerridge
And 3 straight behinds to Walker
Beautiful tap Gorringe
I really like those Crow boys - real terriers.
Absolutely ready made recruits , tough , and can kick goals .
Wasn't sure what to expect from Plowman, but he has certainly impressed.
Maybe not as serious as first thought.
Robbo got his own medicine
Now that was the biggest miss by the ump for the day Casboult right in front . Tried to even up on Robbo might be in a bit of trouble was a bit late.
Robbo does cas, cas gets him back and 50...
Lost grip of it atm
Casboult may get looked at for that charge on robbo after marked it
Total bs that robbo did it to him just seconds earlier and didn't even get a free. Just more crap umpiring
Beautiful mark Gorringe
Gorringe is pulling in some good contested marks in the last 5 minutes
Nice to see Goringe showing a bit of form, nice marks, & getting involved in general play
Onya Army.
Someone kick it.... Thank goodness Dennis - goals
Saying good things about him on the radio.
Gorringe could be the joker in the pack of our key forward issue.
Moves very well for a big bloke, despite his last effort is a good kick for goal.
Great run 2e.
All over Gulshan Grover.
38pt win ... We'll take that
Certainly seems to have have the skill based upon today, anything forward is a help.
Constant leads at 1/2, 3/4 and full time. 38 or 39 points.
He is looking better. But I wonder why he didn't move into the ruck with Kreuzer off? Would have thought he'd step in rather than Rowe. But I guess it worked and we won!
Is it possible to have a disappointing 38 point win? Especially given our expectations at the start of the season? It just felt like we should have done more in the second half and won by 10 goals.
Just saw Cripps being interviewed by Mooney and he's almost eye to eye with him! How many times did Cripps come third man in at the ruck and just snatch it today? Very kouta :)
Nice touch singing the song with a couple of little fans. All the boys got around then.
