Title: Rd 10: In Game Attitude: Carlton vs North Melbourne
Post by: crashlander on May 27, 2017, 06:08:13 pm
A pity that some of these teams are finding a little form. Hawthorn winning last night put them above us for the moment. Let's see if we can alter that against another of the underachievers.

10 + Goal flogging on the cards. .. they are running us ragged.  Weitering on goal line embarrassing

2 Things
This Weitering swingman idea can GAGF as far as Im concerned. He's a defender, leave him there forever. Playing him fwd seems to have ruined his defensive mindset in a fe weeks.

This game has all the hallmarks of being over at qtr time.

Umpires need to stop complaining about having to bounce the ball and learn to apply the rules. We have clearly being bad but we don't need the extra handicap of getting pinged for everything while they get away with holding and throwing it every time

We will need to tighten up this quarter , or this could blow out this qtr.

Officially getting ugly. Running us all over the park.  missing Rowe has been the corner stone the last few years in defence

Not sure why we went with just one key forward today. If Levi comes up the ground we have nothing tall in the 50. Levi's got to be the lone key forward and back up ruck today. Tough gig.

Showing in the stats as well 3 marks in the 50 , tough way to win a game

Nice goal to Wright from the boundary, making the most of his shots. Effort is there, entry forward is hap hazard no real target

Can we count him as a green shoot ? 14.2 or 15.2 from set shots this season.

Laugh all you like. I'm desperate for something positive.

Yes, we won that quarter by 7 points - given them a bit of a scare and something to think about.

Nice work lads. Keep it up.

Great umpiring today.
Gibbs gives a shoulder bump and the north player goes down. Free kick north.
Cas pushes a north player in the chest who goes down. Free kick north.
North player charges Wright after the kick and makes contact to the head. Play on.

Until the late charge we've clearly been subpar, but geez some fair treatment today could make this a lot closer

Perhaps having Phillips in the side wasn't such a bad idea now.  :P

Said Weitering would play back which meant we wouldn't have much up front. Needed an extra tall. Best one going at present plays ruck....

How about the non free kick to zieball in our goal square. Divednon it clear and simple, butnpaid the same thing when Cripps did it. Ducking joke.

It's the tackling and the pressure that's a big difference

Petrevski Seton hasn't had much of the ball but has been tackling fiercely , Alex Silvagni his usual good tackling efforts  ;)
Zac fisher went after about five of them in a row in one piece of play on the boundary and forced the ball out.

It's hard to see us winning but at least we didn't look like a rabble that quarter.
Good to see Cunningham involved in a couple of goals, it should help build his confidence.
Some of the young blokes have got a bit lost today.

Someone flicked a switch... BT mentioned bruise free early in the qtr then all of a sudden we started tackling and harassing and it turned.

Really outclassed q1.
Certainly some dodgy umpiring, but we can usually rely on that one.
Part way into q2, we got some system going.
Charlie C looking great.

North have been solidly beaten for almost 2 full quarters now. I can't see that being 3 by the end of the game.

It will be a big arm wrestle from here. We just have to keep applying the relentless pressure we have been thus far, and not drop your head if they kick a goal or 2.

Crap umpiring rarely costs games, it almost certainly evens out.

If we are good enough we win games of football, with only a few rare exceptions
