While watching the new Star Wars trailer, it struck me, is there a more iconic special effects sound than the Star Wars Light Sabre?

I cannot think of any specific sounds although I thought of plenty, The Predator, Alien, Darth Vader, Cylons, Star Trek Tricorder, etc., etc..

Any thoughts?

There won't be because nothing is as big as star wars.

One special effects sound that got my attention in a way i don't think any other has.

Love my horror movies, and obviously TCM '74 is iconic. However, sitting in a cinema ignoring the trailers before some film, that sound came on. It got my attention straight away and it wasn't until i heard it again that i picked where it was from. It was the teaser for a new remake and it played over a black screen. Don't even know if the movie was finished when they did the teaser, but it was a masterstroke to their target audience.

A simple sound that conjures up so much imagery and emotion.

My son got these Light Sabres for his last brithday

They stand about 7'6" -8'  when the 2 are together and are actually pretty cool

If you go to 4:55 in and listen until about 5:30 they show them when turned on and when "in battle".
As soon as I heard them it took me back to Return Of The Jedi :P

Godzilla’s roar is pretty iconic. Good memories as a kid hearing that thing go off  ;D
The Wilhelm Scream...think of westerns when cowboys and Indians scream as they get shot/impaled.

Man, I miss being a Kid in the 80’s. was a bloody fantastic  ;D

James Earl Jones speaking through a SCUBA respirator is fairly iconic.
