SoJ is dead to me.
Reports were his form didn't warrant selection and he proved it, so from now on I'll just assume nepotism rules the Carlton MC. His game tonight was worse than Casboult, and that coming from me means something!
How would you feel if you were Kerridge or Kerr watching that sh1te and knowing you couldn't get a game? Why would you bother, which is sort of related to the way the NBs have been playing!
Mate, we don't have 22 blokes on the list whose form warrant selection.
I doubt we'd even have double figures!
Why pick on him?
Time to play McKay, Kerr and Jack together and at least try and score some goals......I'd run Jones on the ball as a follower and have Rowe in to play FB.....

NAtanui will carve up Kreuzer, I like the concept of running Jones on ball to at least give something different.
Kerr and McKay up forward for structure, Kerridge as a runner to go with Shuey, LoB for Gaff.
LeCras is smart but slow and soft....Plowman?
Kennedy is the worry. If he gets decent delivery he'll kick 15.
So the sun came up this morning, along with abit of drizzle here in Melbourne town. As bad as that was to watch last night, I think as supporters, we owe it to the boys to support them this week and back em in. We might not think that, we might not think they deserve it, but we must. They are hurting as mush we are, we might not think it but they are. We all need to get back on the horse and front up next week. There is an opportunity to redeem ourselves, so roll up the collective sleeves as there is no other option.
Go Blues.
Is everyone on board?
If there are dissenters what weight and influence do they carry within the playing group?
Week in and week out four of our best five are our senior players so I don't think there is any dissent among the playing group.
It's simply that much of the talent that we have is raw and the run of the mill players that we've surrounded them with (Casboult, Mullet, Lamb, Kennedy, Graham etc.) aren't good enough.
We won't see any real improvement and consistency until our youngsters have another 40 games in them and we've been able to replace some or all of our scrubbers.
I have no idea if there's any issues among the players, and disagree on Kennedy, but agree on everything else.

I need to see a few more tricks from Kennedy before I'm convinced that he's anything more than an honest battler, he's the bloke you recruit when you can't get Mitchell, O'Meara, Treloar, Dangerfield or Kelly.
Our midfield last night consisted of Cripps, a couple of triers and a couple of green as grass kids, that won't win many games of AFL football.
Issue is, if the players aren't putting in any fair dinkum effort at all then there is a problem far removed from ability. We've had one period since 2001 where this hasn't been an issue at some stage, 2008-13 and we there got hamstrung theren having Wayne Hughes as our recruiter. As Lods said, what is happening within the dynamics of the club
2008-2012 was a disaster for the club and one of the major reasons we are where we are today, and before anyone gets defensive of Ratten I'm not blaming him for it, or at least not entirely although he would have had some say in the trades we made you would reckon.
Of all the players drafted or traded in during that period only Graham and Rowe remain on our list, in effect it's a lost five years.

At the moment the confidence of the group is low and even our better players find themselves under pressure and making mistakes, but when you remove Docherty, Gibbs and Murphy from a team which finished 16th last year results like last night are more or less inevitable in the short term.
Recruiting-wise it was a real disaster for the club and hurt badly. If only we had SOS in those days. You could talk flags then. your recruiter the most important man in the club. Coach is important but you can change those. Recruiter mistakes hurt for years.
I think you need to review those facts!
No other players come to mind LP but I'll stand corrected.
Edit: Ed Curnow as well, and while Ed has a red hot go you'd hardly build a Premiership side around him, Rowey or Nick Graham.

That is basically it. I keep saying it that period set us back 10 years.
Ratten and SOS would've been such a different story. Just show how important recruiting staff is. That's the difference between a possible flag and the pits of $hit where we are now.

Lucky we were decent at recruiting off the rookie draft. That kept us going for a short but non-sustainable period. Even brought us temporary success for about 4-5 years but hard to make that last if you don't draft off the main list well.
2015 and 16 look OK but even in Cripps year our other draft selections were busts, as were our second and third rounders when we drafted Murphy, Gibbs and Kreuzer back in the day and our 2014 effort when we swapped pick 7 for a bunch of spuds. .

Yes, flags are won by what you do with your 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks, not so much your first as you expect most clubs to get that right.

2015 and 16 look OK but even in Cripps year our other draft selections were busts, as were our second and third rounders when we drafted Murphy, Gibbs and Kreuzer back in the day and our 2014 effort when we swapped pick 7 for a bunch of spuds. .
It's almost as if it was deliberate, we probably could have done better with a dart board.
Recruiters at others tables literally laughed out loud when we selected Boeky at 19.
Watching the VFL, you would think Rowe and Phillips were a soda to come in, especially in a week we need to deal with Naitanui and Kennedy.
Reading Fraser's review, you'd think it was a soda that Rowe and Phillips come in, especially in the week that we have to deal with Naitanui and Kennedy.
But with our MC, I've no fecking idea, they'll probably promote Le Bois and Polson!
The one positive I found from Polson 2 weeks ago was his tackling. He seemed hard at it the opposition and made a couple stick, whereas we all know most of our guys are jumper pullers at best.

While I think Phillips is a monty based on Kreuzer's fitness, I really hope Rowe isn't called up. Never been a fan of his and from what I saw on Sunday he didn't fill me with any great confidence that he was ready for a return. Had to laugh at the Le Bois Polson comment, I actually thought Polson was better last week and Le Bois was getting plenty of the ball that I saw.
Cunningham omitted, fmd, the bloke needs continuity, not even an emergency & there is no VFL game this week so he doesn’t play anywhere???????? Finally Harry gets a gig, but he’ll be omitted after 1 game , just watch and see! Was thinking of going, but the longer the week has gone, the less interested I became, particularly given the start time.
If we don't score do we have to drop our dacks?
Mullet gets a game and Cunningham is omitted. Bolton is a muppet
Just looking at the nett changes, and taking into account late out of Murphy last week, I;m concerned we're going to be too slow and too tall
Seems a bit of a whipping boy is Cuningham, thought he went ok vs Nth and was better than most, Mullet isnt contributing much
and looks out of his depth having to defend, rather than just accumulate easy receives...
Kruezer out is going to hurt us given NitWits form....Weitering injured or dropped? or is too hard to drop a No 1 pick...
I worry about weitering. I fear we may break him. A couple of weeks rest and a plan to bring him back as an intercept defender will do him a lot of good.
I hate the Cunningham omission
Agree on Weitering I reckon he may be injured mentally and emotionally rather than anything physical and I like your idea of a couple of weeks rest, maybe even 3-4 just to get him
keen and relaxed. Might even work him back by the NB's so he is say coming off a good game before he plays seniors again.....
Cuningham is another mystifying MC non selection....
CARLTON
B: Lachie Plowman, Liam Jones, Aaron Mullett
HB: Cameron O'Shea, Sam Rowe, Kade Simpson
C: Zac Fisher, Paddy Dow, Sam Kerridge
HF: Jed Lamb, Levi Casboult, Ed Curnow
F: Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow, Matthew Wright
R: Andrew Phillips, Patrick Cripps, Sam Petrevski-Seton
Int: Lochie O'Brien, Jarrod Garlett, Dale Thomas, Jack Silvagni
EMG: Pat Kerr, Matt Shaw, Nick Graham, Kym Lebois
I don't know what Cuningham did wrong. His first half last week wasn't bad at all. He offered nothing on the forward line, but it did have to get there.
WEST COAST EAGLES
B: Shannon Hurn, Tom Barrass, Brad Sheppard
HB: Lewis Jetta, Jeremy McGovern, Liam Duggan
C: Dom Sheed, Luke Shuey, Chris Masten
HF: Jamie Cripps, Jack Darling, Mark LeCras
F: Jake Waterman, Josh J. Kennedy, Scott Lycett
R: Nic Naitanui, Elliot Yeo, Andrew Gaff
Int: Jack Redden, Jackson Nelson, Mark Hutchings, William Rioli
EMG: Jack Petruccelle, Francis Watson, Thomas Cole, Will Schofield
I don't like having Phillips up against NicNat, but ... I'm not sure either he or Rowe is 100% match fit, but they are named. Kerridge should have been in last week.
I am not confident at all. :( :( :'(

WC look small down back, we have the one extra tall unless they include Schofield at the last minute......Luke Shuey usually does a number on us so he needs a tag for the day.
McGovern vs Charlie C should be a decent battle in the air....
I'm not convinced WC are that good and while they have a potent forward line and good rucks I actually think we can kick a few goals against this mob and are a chance.......Blues by 5 points...
You are either a genius or a nutcase, either way I love your work ;)
Cheers GTC, look its a stretch looking for positives but I really believe WC are a flakey team that we can do well against and
they may take us a bit easy and we can cause an upset.......you are right I must be a nutcase :P :-X,
West Coast don't play well at the G....so we must be some kind of a chance. Maybe not half a chance, but a quarter of a chance?
Cuningham is the captain of frustration or teasing. His good is very good and he really does excite from time to time but he is such a liability when he has one of those many fade outs/lapses during games... and he does it in every game he plays - just goes missing, not to mention his defensive game is cause for concern.
I gave him a vote after the last game because of his 'glimpses', they are special. In an ideal world, he'd be an outside mid / half forward... but at present, even with his highly skilled moments, his big lapses make him a luxury we can't afford.
This side looks better, more in-form blokes. 2 blokes carrying injuries -- Kreuzer/Kennedy -- and 1 bloke's head not right -- Weitering -- are out of the side. Good. They all need to get themselves right.
Disappointed H got the nod in front of Kerr, who has shown better form in the twos. I wonder if we're playing H just to shut everyone up. Boy I hope he shows something. But might as well experiment, nothing to lose... so to speak.
With more experienced blokes coming in you'd expect us to be beaten by around 50 pts instead of around 90 pts.
Bolton said he wants the kids to play together....but drops cuningham.
Bolton said Harry isn't ready and wants him to prove himself...but picks him despite an ordinary showing.
Makes sense.
Failing a win, I'd settle for an honorable loss.

How McKay gets a game in front of Kerr escapes me. I get the feeling the club has been pressured into this, but it is time to see what he's made of - good luck to him.
Thats probably the right odds....

It astounds me that so many people on this site have the same thoughts on our selections and yet the MC make changes that are bamboozling at best. What a joke. Cunningham out, Mullett survives pffffft. I've got a feeling that Josh Kennedy will kick more goals than out entire team. We have zero chance of winning this one.
Agree Lods. The MC are human, and will stuff it up from time to time. But surely not week after week after week ? I'm sure they know enough about football to see what we see, plus a whole lot more.
If he's feeling any pressure he's handling it pretty well...even taking the piss out of himself with the McKay stuff ;D

I'm not so sure they do Paul, we are on the bottom for a reason and if they were employed in any other business field they would be unemployed now based on results....
IMO Mckay's promotion to the seniors had more to do with dealing with media pressure due to poor results than any great form in the NB's and Cuninghams demotion rates alongside Polson's promotion to the senior team a couple of weeks ago as mystifying at best...

I've been a bit critical of how we're 'playing' this rebuild but if we're choosing teams based on media pressure we are well and truly stuffed.
Has there been a lot of media pressure for McKay to come in though?
Fans are probably split about 50/50 as to whether or not he should be played.... or really have to perform to earn a spot.
A simple question then if its not media pressure and not due to any great form in the NB's given our NB's watchers didn rate his game then why is he in the team??
Its a question Bolton gets asked about Harry every week after a loss, hows Harry Mckay going?...BB..he will play when he is ready

A damn good article on Fox Sports website this morning by Dunstall and Brereton comparing our rebuild to Hawthorns 2005 situation. Also Geelongs situation before they won their flag under bommer Thompson.
They both reckon we are on the right track and must keep goimg and it will all gel in another year or so.
2020 we'll be playing finals if we get the next 2 recruiting periods right I reckon.
Major changes to coaching and recruiting staff now and we are another 5-10 years away.
Stick fat. We're on the way.

Cripps must have support soon or we will break him.
Just watched BBs media conference, I know some might not agree but I reckon the bloke is a class act considering where we find ourselves... loved his gags about cliches, and why we relented and are playing H.
What else can he say other than what he said??!! The bloke is having to be the face for mass list turnover, unreasonable numbers of injured blokes, too many inexperienced blokes taking the field through necessity, flop recruits from other clubs and a marketing dept. Phew.
I think I feel better about the whole shemozzle we presently find ourselves in because I've dropped all expectation for 2018. Now all I want to see is effort. Fair dinkum pressure. Blooding, gradually, kids. Further improvement in recruits of the previous 2 years. And some anti-social ruthlessness which we showed in BBs first 2 years.
And Judge, McKay, SOS... about time you blokes took some of the heat as well rather than leaving it all to the coach and Juddy. How about you 3 showing some ticker and start speaking up (with conviction) re our situation and demonstrating some ridgy didge support for the senior coach/players. No time for wimps skulking around in the shadows... never was a strong, united and forceful message more needed than right fkn now from you three. So get off your flabby @rses and let the football world know how 'Bound By Blue' the club is, DEMONSTRATE it by confronting the media yourselves ...at least we'll then know that 'BBB' is more than a glib marketing slogan.
Where has Liddle been the past month? The previous incumbent would have been on SEN spruiking etc. Needs to be front and square during these hard times, deflecting media heat etc

All i want for Harry is for him to hold his head up high all game.
I don't give a stuff if he gets donuts, as long as he doesn't drop his head and sook, he'll be better for it.

Clarkos first 44 games as coach... 14 wins
Bolts first 44 games as coach... 13 wins.
GWS first 66 games.. 9 wins
*48 games into our 66 game rebuild and we are already 4 wins ahead of the Giants with 18 games to come.
We need to be patient guys!????
I know most 'BlueBaggers' can see the overall picture but a small minority are struggling to keep the faith and threatening to derail things we the call for Bolts sacking .
His intellectual property far outweighs any of you who are calling for his head. I trust him over you any day...

We have won zero games this year, we need to break the duck otherwise the pressure will keep building.
