With my lack of computer this week, I'm setting this thread up now. That way it will be ready.
Nice goal to Harry, after a few dubious decisions, hope it's a good omen
Very fast free flowing game , like Daisy's game lots of fire. goal Setters
Good ball movement for once. Good goal to Setterfield
What's with the fast ball movement ? Not accustomed to this.
Nice goal Setters.
Umpires on a mission to stop us today
Let off for us, poster by Port had players loose. Charlie, still misfiring not getting clean marks
Port lost a player? Amon is it?
We’re on fire!
Goals to ed and sps for a 2 goal lead
Lots of energy, 4 on the board first qtr, great start
Polson doing alright so far. Involved in a lot of our scoring.
Butters was born in the wrong era. I keep thinking of South Park.
Writers looks more confident than last season? Thoughts?
I can't figure out where he's at.
I hope this quarter has been a learning experience - fast ball movement and pressure = scoring
Pots undersized defense struggling vs Harry and Charlie...umpiring has been crap.......
Charlie...knee problem..?...
Curnow knee ?
Charlie off, looks like knee, went straight off the ground, hope not serious
Marc Murphy continuing to hear footsteps and looks miles off the pace.
He might pull the pin end of this season if this continues.
Soft Fking frees they got to score 2 of goals. Hope the umpires give us the same ::)
Curnow knee surely can’t be serious can it. Grabbed the front so praying that’s not an acl.
Best I’ve seen us play for a long time. Hope we can keep it up.
5 goals in the first quarter is something we don’t see too often.
After looking at a replay Charlie looks to grab his inner right knee/thigh when he goes down.
Got up ok but still looked sore.
The Terrier factor/influence.
Charlie out with the group, so hope that's a good sign
Even though he’s bagged a goal, we have to move ed to Rockliff and shut him down
Murphy pole axed
Stood under that one. Looks gone.
Time to push back.
Well done Polson. Cost us a goal.
Lots of pressure out there, If we can stick our tackles is going to be a long way to giving us an edge
Polson is a space cadet but in all seriousness how was that kick to the advantage. He was surrounded by port players. Ball should have gone back.
3 goals from umpire free kicks. Absolutely disgusting
Watch the first quarter again.
That was inexcusable. So doubt and as usual can’t execute.
And Walsh let him know about it too.
And now careless Garlett costs us a stupid free and goal to Grey.
2 goal turnaround - Sooner we can replace those 2 the sooner we will improve.
Drew should have hospitalized then.
We look tired and ready to really drop off.
All the run and pressure has stopped
Daisy let the kid off then. Hodge or Selwood would have placed him.
Curnow has the jacket on
Charlie might be done for the day
It's just our luck. Our opposition lose one early, and we have to drop off.
Murphy will be done for the day, curnow wont come back on.
Charlie off has unbalanced us, when we go forward now we lack extra tall and McGovern doesnt present the same problems for Port.
Rockliff seems unmanned and doing what he likes, Ports kids seem to be hurting us...
Charlie looks done...
This is why we come second all the time.... Daisy should have utterly nailed that bloke. Too much nice guy... Nice guys are roadkill in the AFL.
Half way through 2nd, looks like it’s all starting to fall apart now :(
I disagree because we’re not getting it forward
Murphy back on
Yep his done. Can’t possibly risk him.
Defence has turned to crap this quarter.
Weitering aside the rest have lost the plot.
Getting smashed at the clearances and also turning the ball over at half back, we need half time....
When's the great Fasolo going to do something?
Yep, when our pressure is gone our zone is useless.
Bolts
must go man on man or drop a spare back
Philips doing well, has had influence
Looks like McGovern has been pushed back now
Phillips better value than Kruezer ??????????????
Getting smashed at the clearances...think Kreuzer would help us more....
Rockliff is a squib and lazy but he is carving us up and the coach needs to do something about it...
Well that was a giant slap in the face after a good first quarter.
Almost like a different team took the field. Just like last week.
Losing Charlie didn’t help but I don’t see how that stops 21 other guys from running hard and tackling.
Ps Joens and Plowman - you’re defenders. Find a player and stop them rather than guarding space all the time.
Plowman been on Gray...tough gig.....Jones has had the ruckman and mids changing on him.....
Not sure who was on Rozee but that player needs dragging....
There is a lot the couch needs to do something about.
That quarter highlighted Bolton’s deficiences as much as our players.
News flash Brendan.... Rockliff is a dangerous player. COACH accordingly you peanut.
Plowman hasn’t been on anyone.
Once the opposition applies fair-dinkum pressure to us, we fold. Just not mentally tough enough (except for Cripps). Kids look rudderless.
Fumble, fumble, turnover, fumble. Dreading Q3, it feels like we are about to get really ripped apart. :o
This is not good news. The softest player I've ever seen and worst on ground again. Heard footsteps numerous times and shat himself. Let alone the number of turn overs he's involved in.
Just piss off Marc. You're done!
Plowman has been ca ca since the start of 2018....so has Ed. Can't shut a bloke down anymore, can't play forward. Time to more on from these boat anchors.
Garrett... Soft, plays like he doesn't care.
Fasolo....invisible.
Coaching....?!?
Just about to post the same thing. Come on BB, this is what you're paid for... to coach, to read the play, to make the smart moves... not the panic moves to limit the destruction (Gov to backline)...
Can we drop Fasolo yet?
How much longer do we need to persist with him. We are playing handicapped.
Charlie going down is hurting our structures, especially with McGovern helping out in defence, and McKay in the ruck.
I called it as soon as Charlie went down that it was game over. We were at least 1 goal up at that point and i don't think we've scored since. :-[
You’ve shown yourself in this post. Absolutely disgusting comment. If you watch the footage Marc was stuck under the ball for a long time and in no way did he shirk the contest.
I’m embarressed for you.
Go and support the suns
Reckon he's playing better than he was last year. Got at least 1 nice run down tackle and is good by foot. Still picking up the pace of the game a bit, but better signs. Worse players than him out there.
What are you talking about? He built this forum.
Pissing down in Adelaide.
We look likely to lose but he’s are my coaching suggestions for th second half - hopefully your looking at this website Bolton (not sure you’re looking at the game after all)
1. Ed to Rockliff for a hard tag.
2. Setterfield to CHF and rotate at times with Cripps. Cripps is going to be stuffed in the fourth and can’t play this many minutes.
3. SPS to half back, and tell him to run like hell. We need runners and ball movement. Get fisher and Walsh to link up with him as we move forward.
4. Garlett to the forward line.
5. Put Fasolo on the ball for a bit. He’s done nothing forward. May as well try getting him in the game.
6. Ruck Jones, not McKay
7. Defenders to play man on man. Not zones.
Did you even see the hit? Couldn’t it to say that.
He didn’t move an inch and was smashed by 2 player running in opposite direction. I bet you would have clapped if it was Hodge or Selwood. And he come back on and is playing again.
Love the keyboard warriors from the comfort of there lounge room pot afl players for being soft.
Try and find something else to say every now and then.
He played dead then came back 10 min later. Soft.
One of the players that crunched into Murphy was Powell-Pepper. Not exactly a fly weight like Jeff Garlett. That would have really hurt.
A goal!!! The ball movement starts again and Dow finishes
It would have hurt but he wasn't knocked out.
It would have hurt and left him very dazed IMO.
Fazzy boy gives away a 50.
Gee we’ve got some heros here........
The boys on SEN radio said Fas. Happy to be called out if wrong.
Goal Mitch !!
Butters just got governed
I’m not sure either but the tv said it was down the ground for Philips retaliating to some niggle
Maybe not worth worrying about too much.
Scores level !!
Great play, team lifting stuff , go Blues
Loved the tackle!!!
Butters rolled!
Mitch showing why we recruited him.
I realise folks on here won't care much, but it's Westhoff's 250th. Good honest player. Well done.
Our top 3 for disposals:
Cripps 23
Dow 18
Walsh 16
Westhoff and Gray are two of my favourite players.
Credit where due, well done Polson
Gibbons has 25 pressure acts already.
Boys on the radio saying good things about Plowman's work on Gray.
Really ? Similar numbers to Breust and Poppy from last week. Very good effort.
Easier to get them in the middle but still massive numbers.
Butters has the Selwood head action well rehearsed
Damn you Butters.
Shocker Cripps.
Gray has 15 disposals and a goal.
Plowman is standing off him most the time
Crisps update?
Clawed back , big last qtr coming up,
Still way more than anyone else I can find for us.
There’s hope if the team that showed up in the second quarter stays away.
The rain has helped us lock things up more.
Guys on the radio saying he was itching to get back on with 5 or 10 seconds to go, so hopefully all good.
EDIT : sorry, my marbles are MIA.
Port have the scoring end now. We need to turn it into a dog fight.
Setterfield now level on 25 pressure acts.
Did you even watch the first quarter? Go watch it again and watch captain soft cock do some of his best work. Stop looking at stats and start watching actions and skill level.
Polson twice as many touches as Fasolo along with 1.1 with 2 GAs to donuts to fazzy boy. Polson also with 1 clearance and 4 inside 50's to half time.
Can we admit we got it wrong last week and Polson deserves his spot.
Cmon boys, 1 quarter of relentless pressure to go.
He was probably the only guy I didn't check lol.
Well he hasn’t really been doing much so it’s somewhat surprising
Watts look cooked. Knee?
Broken leg, at the ankle.
Ouch
Amazing Harry & Philips have taken some clean marks in this mire, so important
Simpson jeesus
Lycett destroying us
His looseness/zoning off has cost goals.
Getting a raw deal form umpires this quarter
Missed 50. Missed sliding.
Need a goal
All th missed holding on Cripps. All game
Surely in the back
Need to show a bit more mongrel here
Utterly over goal less quarters Carlton. Over it.
Why are we only really scoring kicking to one end of the ground?
Should have a retirement match for Murphy and Simpson next week.
At this early point in the season we seem to be a 2 quarter team. 2 good quarters, and 2 average.
Well done Fas. Now do more. 5 minutes to prove you should be there next week
Letting a down hill skiing sheep dog like Motlop ice the game is an insult.
Second half was a replay of the first. We start OK then become irrelevant 20 minutes in.
Because of two factors:
1. Fitness, but you get that with a lot of young players
2. Coaching that is slow to respond as the game changes
4 years into the rebuild we play 2 quarters? So in 2023 we will be a contender lol.
I'm not saying it's good. My personal feeling is that we are still 2 years away from being able to win consistently.
9 put of the best 10 players are Port adelaide
Apparently this is the first win for Westhoff in a milestone game.
Hard to win games lugging all the passengers around.
Half a dozen blokes have been invisible. Done nothing, not even tackled. Not good enough.
Now that Marc Murphy is no longer captain we can drop him right?
This sums up the illustrious career of Marc Murphy:
- Turn over merchant
- Soft c@ck
- Fumbling blouse
- Momentum sucker
Can't stand having him at the club and watching him week in week out dishing up half arsed efforts.
Goal to Simmo. Hopefully keeps it under 3 goals.
Could have been worse, but should have been better
Ed can join him.
If we lose next week Bolton needs to go.
At least Essendon lost
The worst 26 possession game I've ever seen.
That one moment he got pole axed was the only time he stood up all game.
He gets round four against Gold Coast. Lose and that’s it.
If we dumped ratten for losing to them we can dump Bolton
How do you respect this crap. Wasted 10 sec of my life reading it.
I think you have a thing for him. Why else would you someone only post about one player and one player only.
Something doesn’t add up.
Ask Kramer said ‘I think your in love with him aren’t you’.
We lost by 14 points. Away from Victoria, dodgy (as usual) umpiring, no Charlie, Westhoff's 250th etc. Am I the only one who can see a few good signs ?
Trust me he didn't know what was coming.
I see the good signs every week, then I see other sides go down and come back up. Port being one of those.
Spanner is right though.
He is a bigger downhill skier than Camporeale and Nick Stevens combined who copped a pasting on this forum.
My sanity and liver can’t take much more of these signs though.
If we’d had a respectable second quarter and lost I may have coped, but this was more proof we’re not on track.
Forgetting about the coaching for a second, we have undertaken a list turnover which is either unprecedented, or else rarely seen in AFL/VFL history. It's a huge gamble, and it may yet end up being an epic fail. Not forgetting the club being a basket case off field as well. Port, Hawks etc., have had a much better back end, and are building on momentum that is already there. We are building momentum from scratch. It takes time, and it may still not work.
He won't tackle, because his shoulders are cactus. Can't play midfield then if you can't won't or don't do this. Only role left for him is a minor forward role.
