This is a very important game for the Baby Blues are they try to stay in touch with the top 8.

What's happened to our "academy" kids or have we given up on this?
Down by 4pts approaching half time.
Down 44-45 later in the 3rd qtr
Been watching. A couple of good things from the usual %20 players. Very impressed with Goddard... Deluca looks good when he gets it. Dekong looks good and is going to be a player. Overall I suspect we will struggle to win. Cats have a bit more class and commitment. Hope I'm wrong..
Geelong up 57-52 @ 3/4 time.
All over Geelong 72-NB 58. Fooey.
Terrible conditions - and we got hammered around the stoppages and by the umpires :(
The umps will go close to the flag this year! ::)
Cameras filter out a lot of the bad weather in AFL games.
They probably didn't have as sophisticated a set up at the VFL level today but you actually got a better idea of what the players were up against in that last 10 minutes.
It was torrential.
Thought we did OK today and were very competitive.
Deluca will get better as he gets more accustomed to his teammates.
It must be tough when the commentators can't see the other side of the ground!
I thought Deluca showed a bit, as did Goddard (again!), Lang and Garlett. Lebois was lively, in adverse conditions for his size and style of play.
The boundary umpires struggled to throw the ball in. I noticed the female boundary umpire throwing from a couple of metres inside the line. Her male colleagues should have done the same.
I only saw a few minutes, but in that time Geelong had 6 frees, including a deliberate out of bounds, to one. Seems to be more than a trend.
Alas, we do not have the midfield depth to really make a difference at this level. Missing Tom Wilson, a real inside player, really shows up our midfield lack of depth.
Northern Blues 2.5-17 4.7-31 7.10-52 8.10-58
Geelong 4.1-25 6.6-42 8.9-57 10.12-72

Interesting to see Lang making an impression. As for Goddard, in any other year he would have got a game at this point.
Lang played as if he meant it, and that’s promising.
Goddard’s form is good enough to earn a spot at AFL level but we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to key defenders. He is a more natural defender than Jones and Casboult and he reads the play well and gets into good position. I wonder if we’ll look to trade one of Jones and Casboult and hang on to Goddard ????
Levi is a free agent so it would make sense to keep Goddard for another season.
Levi did so well filling in at CHB means Goddard is further away from a game in the 1s than ever.
He may be a bit too slow for AFL level. The rest of his game looks solid though. Good hands and good kick.
