This is an important game for us to win. I really want to win this. In theory we can do it, even with our injury issues. I want it badly, especially after our recent games.
Hope the boys play with heart and soul for their courageous co-captain.
Congratulations Crippa. It's been a privilege witnessing your journey to 100 games.
Go Blues
Indeed. We usually stuff up milestone games. here is our chance to right that particular wrong.
For the most part Crash yep but was it Simmo's 250th....came from behind late to knock Port over?
We've had trouble with St Kilda over recent years....for some reason it always seems like a game we should/could win but never do. Jones is a big out for us but hopefully Goddard gets another chance. I'd get Stocker back in there for this week against their dangerous small forwards.
A must win, pull out all stops on and off field!
A winnable game but we must stop this non-nonsensical team selection debacle. Lang has to be dropped. This is a no-brainer. I'd also give Deluca the chop and Fisher (can't believe I'm saying this) has been abysmal so he should go as well. Think it's time Stocker comes in. Kennedy should not have been dropped ahead of Lang in the first place so he should come back. Dow did enough for me last week in the two's to get a recall. He couldn't go any worse than the lot I've mentioned. Hell I'd even give Polson a run. Levi to go back to cover for Jones. Let's just win this one. Can't believe we keep losing to this lot. It's time we reversed the trend.
Pretty much agree with that Rocky
apart from.
'Run', is about all he seems to do because he doesn't seem to get many possessions. Unfortunately he doesn't seem fast enough to counteract the fact that he isn't very tall or strong.
Turn over merchant, does a couple of good things but then gets in the negative on the stat sheet with some woeful disposal, how him and Lebois got extra years on their contracts
defies logic....
Given what Teague has brought to the club, and how he likes his players to play, i'm actually surprised he hasn't given Polson a run.
Similar to Jack, he gives effort. He doesn't impact games, but he tries and tries.
I'd prefer to play him over someone like Lang who is getting half as many touches as what Polson would, but doesn't apply any defensive pressure.
Kruddler I actually think that getting a game now is a poisoned chalice.
We dropped Kennedy last week probably because he's done enough.
If you're "one of those" players, playing afl now might be a do or die sort of game.
I remember it well.
Big Kruez kicked the winning goal as I recall.
Bryce Gibbs and Simmo were lying on the ground embracing. Very emotional moment for Simmo and our club's history.
Dow and Kennedy in for Jones (injured) and Lang (dropped)
Bolt must be playing down back...probably on Bruce.
Kreuz kicked 3 in the wet to get us over the line. Best ever game as a forward.

We will miss Jones. A couple of seasons back I could not conceive of writing such a thing, but he is one of the best defenders in the competition.
The umpires love The Aints, I heard on a podcast they get 50% more free kicks than Carlton when we go head to head, and their midfield usually has a day out despite Cripps dominating!
Shame Stevens and Hannebery are fit and playing...the former usually dines out on us.
Yes, if not for the coaching announcement this game would be a big test to see if we have a solution to dealing with teams that have us for leg speed.
But there is no point in winning now so I expect us to tank, a sad milestone game for Cripps and Daisy but that is the lot of a professional sportsperson. (I know the Crows, but there is more to tanking than a draft pick!)
Ratten will still be motivated, maybe even vindictive!
Any chance McGovern plays back this week on someone like Membrey with Weitering on Bruce? Casboult is too important around the ground and as backup ruckman for mine to play as a permanent defender.
I think part of the reason the players have been up lately is the uncertainty surrounding Teague and the coaching job. I think they've been playing a little on edge as a result. With the coaching appointment now finalised, I expect the players will be a little more relaxed and may play with a little less intensity.
Saints by 4 goals.
Thought McGovern was reasonable down forward last week so I'd be loathe to send him down back, Membrey is a slippery operator
and might get the lock down type of defender like Plowman for company.
Marshall is a big strong unit for a kid and been playing well, think the Bolt might get his fair share of ruck work to help MK....
Wouldn't have expected any other call from you Paul- maybe a bigger margin. ;)
I think our blokes will be keen but its really the same deal at the Saints with Ratten doing a Teague and the Stkilda players will be
keen to win for their coach and secure him the job. I tend to agree with the let down theory though and it will be a test for DT to get our blokes up
and its important for him to win this game and keep the momentum going. Blues by 5 points but this could go either way...
If we lose this then we are pretty much back to where we were when Bolton was sacked.
We definitely and badly want to win this one for sure but in the light of DT's confirmation the pressure dial has been turned down a smidge. I anticipate a strong performance though and would be very disappointed if we don't produce one.
Predictable.
Regardless of how many are aboard the Teague Train, its Crippas 100th and daisys final home game. Thats enough reasons for the boys to get up.
We should win. I believe we will.
I really have no expectations about this game.
It could go any one of a number of ways....and as of now the results for us aren't as important as they are for other clubs.
On the other hand we're not playing for draft picks either.
It would be really nice though to finish the season on a positive note and head into the off-season up-beat and looking forward to next year.
Yes. It's a milestone game for a couple of our players but milestone games are pretty hit and miss in terms of results. Sometimes players fire up. Sometimes they don't.
100 games milestones are probably given a bit more importance than they're actually worth
Our players may subconsciously relax now the pressure to get Teague up is off....
Many may be looking to the end of the year and the break ahead.
St Kilda still have to get their coach a job.
It's a lottery.
Yep, this'll be a tricky one for DT to negotiate.
Only human to relax 1/2 a % with the surety of what happened this week... likewise the players. It will take terrific discipline to get the players and coaches 100+% focussed.
A significant test for DT and others. And the Aints will be very aware of all this and will no doubt hit hard from the get go.
Tougher without weitering
Didn't know Weiters was out. Might not be all bad, though. The Aints forward line is not blessed with 'gorillas'.
Makes Meat seem all the more likely to go down back.
Jones is out...Is Weitering too?
Or did you mean Jones?
Since when is weitering out? And who’s in for him. Can’t find anything anywhere saying he is out?
Really wanted to win this one, but we're looking distinctly threadbare. Good luck to everyone.
Yes, same here. The AFL website team line ups show him as in, as of 5pm last night. Same for the CFC website. Must be a very late scratching if he's not playing.
And Nic Newman's 50th game as well.
Weiters out, Lang in. Ouch!
Depth...
JonHenry had that Weitering out info last night....when there was nothing (that we could find) on any other website.
Kudos ;) :D
WTF....replacing Weitering with Lang??? Surely that means McGovern is playing back now. Impossible to see us winning this one without a recognised key defender against Bruce and Membrey.
Lang is the turd that wont flush
No backline per se.
Simmo, Sammo, Plowman and the fillins will have a very busy day. Can't see us getting within 6 goals. If our mids don t dominate for 4 q, it could be history repeating 10 goal belting. Remember Stephen running amok 2yrs ago iirc. We could see that again. Big challenge for our mids, and pressure on fwds to kick straight.
Hope to be proven wrong..
Go Blues
For all the bagging of lang he put in 3 repeat efforts today that was an absolute pleasure to see.
