I understand and sympathise the reason behind for having 3,2 & 1. But I think last nights game was a good example of when you need more votes to hand out, because there weren't really three stand outs and half a dozen players probably deserve some recognition.

At the end of the year i do 2 tables.
1. A tally of each weeks BOGs
- Player who got the most votes for that week overall gets 3, 2nd most 2, 3rd most 1.
2. A tally of every vote as a % from each week.
- If a player gets 3 votes from everyone, they get 3.0.
- If a player gets 1 vote from 1 person that week, and there were 10 people who voted, they will get 0.1 votes for the week.
- At the end of the year, every player who received a single vote at all, will be included in the tally.
The second method 'rewards' people who are 'thereabouts' more often than not but not everyone puts them in the top 3.
EDIT: An example of method 2 is this.
Jess Hosking was collectively deemed a 1 vote getter in week 2 last year.
Nic Stevens was collectively deemed a 1 vote getter in week 4 last year (and received votes in R5, but not top 3 for the week)
Charlotte Wilson never made the top 3 for any given week, but was given votes in 3 separate games. She outpolled both Jess and Nic under method 2.
Anyone else got votes for this game??
3: Prespakis
2: Laloifi
1: Hill
I only saw the second half but I'll vote anyway:
3 - Prespakis
2 - Moody
1 - Brazzale
And apologies to the 5 or 6 others who could have got votes, and particularly Abbie McKay.
Having INternet problems, alas.
3 Maddie Prespakis She may have been down on her best, but her ability to get first hands on the ball was excellent.
2 Mua Laloifi: Her kicking is a bit dodgy, but her attack on the ball was excellent. Her opponents struggled to make an impact.
1 Mimi Hill: Made a strong impression.
Honourable Mentions:
Bree Moody: easily the best ruck on the ground.
Abby McKay: needs more of it, but her improvement was significant and her ability to get the ball was useful.
Charlotte Wilson: great marking in defence, but her kicking needs work.
I was impressed with Wilson's improvement over last season, she no longer looked timid and happily took on the front position in the marking contests.
Another game, another 6 point loss.
Who gets the 3, 2, 1 this week?
We had enough good players. But we are not putting it together. Until we kick the ball to our own players we will continue to struggle.
[3] Maddy Prespakis: Not as dominate this week, but she can find her way out of packs and get the ball off like Diesel. She had 6 tackles and really put in an effort. The way she gets the ball in the centre square was brilliant, if not as spectacular as she can be.
[2] Mimi Hill: Not as prevalent late in the game, but she managed to get a lot of ball. Her run and pace was excellent.
[1] Bree Moody: Did a good job in the ruck and did some very nice things around the ground, but , by God, she can frustrate! She could have been BOG by kms if she doesn't make errors.
Honourable Mentions:
Abby McKay: Close to getting a vote when her vim and energy. 6 tackles and a lot of work. Pity about that snap at goal.
Jess Hosking: Excellent game from Jess. She really lifted when we needed her.
Tayla Harris: Tay can take a mark like few others, but her kicking! She could have had 5 goals. Instead she managed 2 goals 2 and missed an important one from 12 metres from goal. She took 2 contenders for mark of the year tonight.
Katie Loynes: what a warrior!
So many options this week. Almost every one had a brain fade at some stage.

This was a really solid effort from the Blues. Good effort particularly against the wind.
[3] Maddy Prespakis: How good is this girl? The work ethic is brilliant!
[2] Grace Egan: Grace's best game for the season. Loved the clean disposal.
[1] Elise O'Dea: Her best game by a long way. She was excellent as the spare in defence and a hard working forward.
Honourable Mentions:
Breeann Moody: Brilliant in the ruck, especially as our mids usually get the ball now.
Mua Laloifi: Took on a highly rated forward in Greiser and did the job.
Abby McKay: Solid and hard in the middle.
Any other votes before i lock this up?
3. Presparkis

Back to back wins. Plenty of worthy recipients of votes this week.
Gotta narrow it down to our best 3, 2, 1...

3 Prespakis

Special mentions to Vescio, her best game for a year. McKay another good game, Stevens very creative.
It is something of a pity that we don't rate the performance, but that does make things a lot more complicated. I should know. :)
[3] Grace Egan: Grace got large numbers today and played probably her best game. Her disposal was generally good, and she really made a significant mark in the centre.
[2] Maddy Prespakis: Not Maddy's best game, as she was closely marked all day. However, she continued to make a contribution, and her 2 goals were nothing short of brilliant.
[1] Darcy Vescio: Totally dominated her opponent and had 6 shots on goal (3 goals 2 behinds). She should have had 5 goals at least. She out-marked her opponents in almost every contest.
Honourable Mentions:
Lucy McEvoy: Much improved over last week. Her work in the clinches was excellent.
Breann Moody: Had a much harder battle in the ruck today than I expected, but really made an impact. Richmond tried 3 or 4 girls against her, with some success, but Moody was excellent around the ground. For that matter, Ali Downie was excellent in her time on the ground.
Jess Hosking: the most effective Hosking on the ground, Jess was wonderful in her effort.
Nicola Stevens: Better hands and not so many fumbles, Stevens was a real target. Very good game.
Charlotte Wilson, Kerryn Harrington and Mua Lalolifi: Our defenders were very ordinary early. Richmond's forwards got too many marks for my tastes, especially early. But all 3 girls really stepped up when required and eventually got on top of their opponents. Their ability to make a contest probably won us the game in the end.

Is strikes me that in the Women's game, it is the stand-out moments that decide the matches. Georgia Gee's effort in the last quarter with three bounces and then hit Nicola Stevens on the chest in the goal square with a 35m pass basically saved the game. And Vescio's third quarter won it.

It was a tough week, the kids like Egan, Hill and McKay stood up in the absence of Prespakis and Loynes, but we just didn't get enough out of the 2nd tier mids like McEvoy and O'Dea which left the kids continually outnumbered by bigger older bodies. It was probably a week when we needed a blinder from the likes of Moody or Downie but they were both well beaten. As much as Stevens got heaps of footy, I can't give her a vote because she burnt most of it, similarly for Wilson.
3 - Stevens
2 - Hill
1 - Laloifi
3. Pound
2. Hill
1. Stevens
Another below par performance, alas.
[3] Mimi Hill: I was impressed with Mim's pace and run, and the way she kept going. Her goals were excellent.
[2] Nik Stevens: This was probably Nik's best game in our colours. Her work in the forward line was stirling. A pity she wasn't rewarded on the scoreboard.
[1] Gab Pound: Gab showed what we were missing in those first few rounds.
Honourable Mentions:
Jess Hosking: Jess continued with her good form. her tackles and physical style were good for the team.
Mua Laloifi: Strong and consistent in defence.
Darcy Vescio: Darcy was a solid contributor and had a part in most of our goals.
3 - Hill

3 Harrington

HM Prespakis, Loynes, Pound
Pretty even contribution
It was very nice being on the winner's list again, but it could have been so much better. Such is life: we will improve and make the grade, or we will not.
Votes:
[3] Maddy Prespakis: It is hard NOT to give the votes to a player who had 28 disposals, even with time off the ground due to injury. Maddy also spent time up forward with real success. It was nice to be able to do that. 6 clearances, tackles, goals, Maddy did it all.
[2] Kerryn Harrington: This was Kezz's best game this season by some margin. She has been playing more negatively this year, as much for the way the ball has been going into the opposing forward line as anything else. Yesterday she rediscovered her run and was lethal bringing the ball out of defence. Hopefully, Kez can keep that up, as her disposal coming out of defence is lot better than that a few others I could mention.
[1] Grace Egan: A really solid game from Grace with 24 possessions and 4 tackles. Grace's class and skill were on display for everyone.
Honourable Mention:
As is often the case, when we win, there are a lot of people who deserve votes. This one was no exception.
Darcy Vescio: Another excellent effort from Darcy, kicking goals and making them for others. She was involved with a lot of scoring opportunities and really made our forward line work.
Lucy McEvoy: Lucy is nowhere near her best yet. If anything, she appears to be carrying a little excess matter. However, you have to like her effort against the Cats. 19 possessions and change is a solid hitout.
Abby McKay: Abby had a very solid game yesterday with 17 possessions and a good show of strength. Even her kicking was better today.
Breeann Moody: Moody rucked well and did OK around the ground. When she does well, we usually do well.
Elise O'Dea: Pace is her issue. But hard work certainly isn't. Elise was solid in a number of roles and really provides some leadership for our team.

3 Harrington
2 Stevens
1 Vescio
See near and yet so far. It seems to be the tale of the 2021.
Votes:
[3] Kerryn Harrington: This was probably her best game of the season as she dominated her opponent and provided huge run from defence. An almost flawless game from the Co-Captain.
[2] Darcy Vescio: Darcy was excellent in attack and was a constant threat. That kick that hit the post was so unlucky - I was a goal for the entire journey.
[1] Breeann Moody: Moody was a tower of strength in the ruck, with huge numbers of taps and a real presence in the air. In many ways we lost the game when Bree went out of the ruck, having worked herself into the ground. If Breeann had been able to ruck more in the last quarter, the result might have been different.
Honourable Mentions:
Nik Stevens: This was one of the best game Stevens has played for us. She was a constant threat. Unfortunately she developed the fumbles in the last few minutes after being a one-touch player for the rest of the day. Goal kicking was excellent.
Mua Laloifi: Mua was also very good, but for a couple of moments in the last quarter.

I feel guilty not finding a vote for Stevens, I thought this was perhaps her best game yet the above three needed recognition as they were constants even when things went pear shaped.

At least 8 or 9 others deserved votes, including Loynes, Plane, Prespakis, Brazzale, Laloifi, Gee, McEvoy and Stevens.
Just on this, Prespakis only had 11 touches. There was 11 girls in a navy blue jumper that had more than her. That is unheard of and she still contributed, but was nowhere near the bests IMO. Point being, so many girls were deserving of votes and its the best team performance we've ever had.....and the highest score ever in AFLW. Coincidence? I think not.
3 - Vescio
2 - Harrington
1 - Moody
SM to 3 veteran Creekers:
Loynes - best game for the season with the benefit of considerably more time in the midfield
Brazzale - room to run and kick the cover off the ball
Downie - has definitely earned her place since being moved to the tall defensive role - not a lot of possessions but rarely beaten in the air and has significantly contributed to Harrington's increased output.
3 Vescio
2 Moody
1 Harrington
HM McEvoy, Stevens, Laloifi
There is only one certainty: Vescio deserves the 3 votes.
We had a lot of strong contributions and most of the girls deserved a mention.
Votes:
[3] Darcy Vescio: Darcy was rewarded for a change, and really played well. Her kicking for goal appears to have lost the yips she's been suffering for a while.
[2] Breeann Moody: After half time she totally dominated and allowed our mids to get 1st use of the ball. Her own disposal is still a work in progress, but she was fantastic.
[1] Kerryn Harrington: her form in the last few weeks has returned to the sort of thing we saw last year.
Honourable Mention:
Elise O'Dea: very solid.
Nat Plane: excellent game.
Katie Loynes: what a player she is!
Grace Egan: Very solid.
Lauren Brazzale: One of her best efforts.
Gab Pound: Gee, we missed her in the first couple of weeks!
Georgie Gee: Fantastic early, but she dropped out of the game somewhat when we got on top.
Ali Downie: Did a great job in defence.
It was a dead rubber but our girls still put in.
Who deserves the last votes of the year?
3 Prespakis
2 Loynes
1 Harrington
BTW - Next season it would be good to have the same voting system as we have for the AFL team - gotta have equality.
3: Prespakis
2: Vescio
1: Harrington
@RR....the only reason we don't have that voting system is because i can't be bothered doing it. Its more involved.

3 Loynes

How about simply 5,4,3,2,1 - I always struggle to limit my votes to 3 players when Prespakis is nearly always one of them.
Its a little bit more work, but could be possible.
Remind me before the start of the next AFLW season and i'll get some input on it from others.
I'd prefer that system - it's the way I vote for the Jim Park award - but I don't want to make more work.
3. Prespakis
2. Harrington
1.Loynes
any other voters??
OK, so votes have been tallied, and i've deliberately kept them 'in camera' this year.
Before the reveal, i'd like to see who people think we be the top 3 (or top 5).
I'll give it a few days, maybe til the weekend before i'll post the full results.
So what have you got?
I'll play; Prespakis, Harrington and Moody.

With 6 BOGs from 8 games (she missed 1 round) she again dominated the votes. However, she was far from the dominant player from other years. Individual games, the voting was a lot closer than it was last year.
