Bad match up for Kemp. This bloke is running rings around him. A tall on the goal line could have saved that, attention to detail. 10 horrible minutes.

Front on contact not awarded unless you're a port player.
Charlie stiff.
Free kick Port, you just can't beat them!
That's why Port are sitting at the top of the ladder, that is why our board made such a massive faux pas when it gave away our home ground advantage for profit!

They've been handed 2 of them, and we've been shafted out of 1.

The very reason Teague is under pressure is on display. Just no answer at all when teams get a run on. 6 in a row against the flow and no plan to arrest the slide. Same old same old. Been the same for 2 years.

We've just experienced a 4 goal swing courtesy of seriously bad umpiring, you'd expect none of them will feature in the finals!
In one instance we had a sling tackle paid against us, the Port player was holding his head in pain before he hit he ground!

Agree. Just watched our guys standing off the contest watching Port make the play. We seem incapable of switching into a full defensive mode, the old tempo footy, to weather a storm and just frustrate the opposition.

The lack of consistency in the umpiring is mind-numbing. Williamson ping for deliberate, then Kennedy tackle a bloke who throws its over the boundary and they don't even blink an eye. McGovern, front on contact 100%, pings down the other end and an unbelievably soft down the field goal. The Saad tackle. Seriously a joke, the club needs to be asking questions.

Take the blue glasses off mate. Yes there was a few questionable one but as lethal used to say you can’t control them but the fact they controlled the second half of that quarter was not because of a few 50/50 frees that went against us.

7 unanswered goals, once the serious pressure was applied. Again.
You don't want to be critical of a bloke in his 300th, but, sheesh, his 2nd qtr fadeout... just when leadership is needed from experienced heads - ditto Levi.
This is where a coaching move is needed - get more intensity around the ball. Nothing to lose, put Stocker in the midfield.

It’s the same old same old cookie. When they got on top we were second to every contest and were completely outnumbered when the ball was in dispute. We let them thru the corridor too. Surely by now the coaching group had some answer to when these runs of goals occur but nope.

You are right, you can't control them......but they can control the game.
The game is taken out of Teagues hands.
11-5 at half time. Commentators have said at least 3 frees they got shots on goal from were not there.
Thats the margin.
And at the other end, we didn't get some they would've got.
Then we're in front again and with momentum.
Its not rocket science.
I expect to lose this game by 10 goals.....and thats with fair umpiring, so i'm not surprised at the result thus far. I think its fair reflection of the strengths (or lack of) of the 2 sides. The umpires are going to turn it into a 15 goal game!

After being 11-5 at half time....Port only got 2 free kicks that quarter.
Unfortunately, we only managed 1.
13-6 at 3/4 time.
Well on our way to my expected 10 goal defeat. Margin from here is just about Port from here.
If they go into conservation mode because they have finals to worry about, we might keep it at that, or less. If they are out for blood and/or %, we are in all sorts!
Hopefully umps give us a free cheapies to help even up the tally.

It won't be Clarkson, I reckon that Lyon or Buckley will get the job.
Whoever gets it, they will have a ton of work to do to improve this mob. Our skill level is non-existent, and we aren't physically big or fit enough. We have got too many passengers who aren't even close to giving us the opportunity to make the 8, and a flag. That's at least 6 top class players away.
What a top class coach can do for us in his first year, provided he gets top class assistants, and we recruit well, and the assistants and our coach can improve the skills and strengths and discipline of the team, and the coach has a game plan, and a plan B and C if plan A doesn't work, is maybe get us into the 8 so that we get a taste and a feeling for finals football.
And once you are in there, anything is possible.
Teague is a gentleman, and understands the basics of the game. After losses, I watch his press conferences, and he knows what they have done wrong, because he articulates all the things that we see. His problem, and the reason that he's not up to the job, is that he has been unable to correct the issues that he himself understands they suffer from.
So he, and his assistants have to go. A hard disciplined mob have to be brought in, and get through to the players that they are a privileged lot, earning an average of 300 grand a year when people are stuffed due to Covid, and nothing other than 100% effort will get them a game and guarantee them a future at our club.
We won't win every game, the players will still make mistakes, but if we lose having given it all, as much as it will hurt, we will understand that we can't win every game, and will accept a 100% effort, loss.
But if we have another year next year like this one, the club can say goodbye to people, in these tough times, putting their hands in their pockets and parting with their hard earned and buying a membership.
As it stands at the moment, I can't see us getting to the 80,000 mark next year unless the major changes that we supporters believe need to be made, are made.

Before anyone cries that it's because of so many outs or the umpires... how different does this look to so many of our games this year? With more talent on the park the only difference would be the size of our losing margin.
It's the same stuff under pressure - capitulation. They just don't know how to handle pressure or give it and sustain it. Too much left to individual talent. Disappointing. No excuses.

Umpires and injuries are the cause of the margin. Effort (early) was top notch.....but was not sustainable...as i said at the time. We simply are not fit enough (2 debutants, a few blokes coming back from long layoffs) and are lacking the talent by comparison.
Port are on top of the ladder, on their home deck....with next to no injuries and everything to play for. Why would you expect anything else?
You showed your hand when you were overly excited early on. Your expectations don't match reality.

I think Clarkson understands that he currently works in a successful organisation, and whilst he has undoubtedly contributed to that success, Hawthorn was successful for decades before he got there. Even if you gave him a 20 year contract, it won't change much unless things above him change.

How did they get this way? Anyone could look like a goose with this game plan... or the lack, thereof. They were motivated to begin with... to a man, but when the pressure came they folded, again. You need to look beyond the players, the way they play is a symptom of something deeply amiss above them.
