OK, well time to reevaluate.
We've seen most of the boys play a couple of pre-season games. Who is in your best 22 side now? Be very surprised if we end up with the same 22.
I've added Philp to the ineligible list and included Cincotta and O'Keefe as replacement players.
For the record, i'm aware there will be 23 players (22 plus a sub) but for traditions sake, we are sticking with a best 22.
My changes
OUT: C. Durdin, Owies, and O'Brien
IN: Cowan, Hollands and Motlop
Little bit more urgency, enthusiasm and x-factor.
STILL OUT: Plowman, TDK, Ed.
23rd man either Carroll or Pitto (I voted him in the 22 assuming we will play two rucks).
Moo and Dutchy in for me
Like Cincotta's toughness and kicking skills so he plays rnd 1 for mine.
3.5 new arrivals play in my side.
Cowan and Hollands really put their hands up, but it's only a practise game.
I think the makeup of the Richmond team is what we need to look at also when selecting players....you would be wanting to make sure Cowan, Cincotta for example didnt end up on the likes of Martin and Bolton down forward when rotations were on.
Its a different Tiger lineup this season with Cotchin also playing forward and we need to get every matchup spot on given we have a few defenders who like to play off their man and ball chase.
B: Newman Young McGovern
HB: Cincotta Weitering Saad
C: Acres Hewett Hollands
HF: Martin McKay Kennedy
F: Motlop Curnow Silvagni
R: Pittonet Cripps Docherty
IC: Cerra Fisher Cowman TDK - Owies
I had Carroll instead of Owies but same 22. I think Carroll showed way more than Owies the other night even with the limited time he spent on the ground.
B: Newman Young McGovern
HB: Cowan Weitering Saad
C: Acres Hewett Hollands
HF: Silvagni McKay Cerra
F: Motlop Curnow Small Durds
R: Pittonet Cripps Docherty
IC: Kennedy Fisher TDK Martin
No Walsh! :o
I'd have Walsh in the 22 with zero games even if he looked like this bloke!

Remember the new sub rule is in play, you can plan to give blokes just a quarter or two!
B Saad Weitering McGovern
HB Docherty Young Newman
C Acres Cripps Cerra
HF Kennedy C. Curnow J. Silvagni
F C Durdin, McKay Motlop
R: TDK, Hewett, Walsh
Int Pittonet, Hollands, Fisher, Cowan
Sub Martin(Hopefully he doesnt get injured putting the vest on)
Hollands and Cowan to start on the bench and eased into the game at the right moments vs the right players. eg Dont want to see Hollands start on the wing and find Richmond are giving him Shai Bolton for company with a last minute switch.
I've got Martin starting in front of Durdin.
I've got Marchbank instead of TDK (with McG playing forward with SOS rucking backup)
Otherwise the same.
If McG plays forward let alone fit to play I will buy you slab of choice.
Can't see them take a risk on Walsh round 1
Last inj report Marchbank injured again so not sure about him either.
B Saad Weitering Cincotta
HB Docherty Young Newman
C Acres Cripps O Brien
HF Kennedy C. Curnow Fisher
F Durdin McKay Motlop
R: TDK, Hewett, Cerra
Int Pittonet, Hollands, Cowan, Owies
Sub Martin(Hopefully he doesn't get injured putting the vest on)
Didn't really consider Marchbank as I can't see him playing enough games as a regular senior player.
McGovern down forward is interesting and I don't mind some left field thinking but I prefer him down back.
Martin needs to show me he is fit and firing and play a decent string of games back to back before I would consider him as a starter.
TDK and Pittonet is my preferred ruck set up with Jack used less in the backup role.
I chose a side for R1 from those available.
I think you’ve nailed it EB.
The only complication is the MC’s determination to rotate Docherty between midfield and defence. That could mean an extra defender and one less midfielder/forward.
Fair point DJ.....Id probably see Cowan take that relief HB role and Docherty swung onball and the player he replaced have a rest on the pine. Otherwise that extra defender would probably have to come in ...from either Plowman or Cincotta....I like the latter but not overly keen on three newbies in the team especially first up vs Richmond and then Geelong.
The best 22 should be picked based on the assumption that everyone is 100% fit.
(Eccept those out for the year)
We are trying to achieve an ideal best 22 and track changes in our thinking throughout the year. Injuries from one week to the next should not alter that thinking.
Although it would be Cincotta’s first AFL game, he is a mature player with several VFL seasons under his belt and I think he’d take it in his stride.
Heard rumours that Walshy has been given the go ahead by medicos
Cincotta like Saad and Williams are critical - due to their leg speed, dash, taking the game on and foot skills. Despite his age he will only get better with more and more training session he has the talent.
He can defend and tackle hard. Cowman is more of a lock down like dare I say it Bruce Doull!
Plowman should never get a game ahead of Cowman and Kemp.
Last chance to vote before round 1
