I'll probably have to leave the Voting thread open until next weekend, as I doubt I'll be able to do anything to it with another midweek game. But get voting! The more the merrier!

AFL Round 1:   Carlton vs Richmond
One that got away? Perhaps. We really should have won it, but at least we didn’t lose.

Trends:
[1]   We managed 15 voters this round, which may not be huge, but it is a measure of how many people use this site these days. It was only one down from this game last year, which was a tremendous win. Hopefully we can keep this level up throughout the season.

[2]   The rating was 8.22, which is close enough to a C+. There was a large range in ratings, far more so than for most matches: some voters were disappointed and let it show, while others were less pessimistic. Fair enough: every sees the game differently.
This time last the rating was 9.58, but that was for a win.

[3]   16 players managed to get at least 1 vote, which suggests that a lot of players made a contribution. When we had a big win, we often managed 19 last year. Not sure if that trend will continue.

[4]   The average vote for this game was 27, which also shoes the level of satisfaction in voters. Scores of 31 are more common when we win, while 23 or 24 do happen when we lose.

[5]   Last years Patrick Cripps had a huge number of votes (342) in an epic win. This time it was Lewis Young who stood out with 340 votes. George Hewett scored 230 to be 2nd.

[6]   4 players managed 100 votes or more, a measure that shows how dominant our players can be. This time last year our 4 main mids all got over 100 votes. This time only 2 mids managed it. The others were defenders.

[7]   Three players, Young, Hewett and Docherty, managed votes from everyone. Weitering missed 2.

[8]   We blooded 3 recruits for this game, of which one, Ollie Hollands, managed a vote. As a general rule, the better our debutants fare in this game, the better we perform.

[9]   This one was a game for defenders. We were thrashed in the middle, as can be identified by the lack of votes from many of our best midfielders.

It is interesting to note the differences. This is due to how the program rounds the votes off. It does, however, make for some confusion.

AFL Rd 2:   Carlton vs Geelong

One of the more impressive wins in recent years, we dealt with the Premiers and controlled the game for most of the game.

Trends:
[1]   The rating of 9.67, which represents an A-, is about as good as we’ve seen for a long time. Certainly, it shows how maturely we played.
[2]   We managed 14 votes this week, which is down one from last week. Probably the number of voters we’ll have to get used to.
[3]   17 players managed a vote this round, which is impressive in anyone’s language. It is also a trend we have when winning these days. It shows how much of a team effort we put in when we win.
[4]   The average vote his week was 32, which is close to an all-time high.
[5]   This week we had 4 players who managed more than 200 votes, the first time I can recall seeing that. It was very close at the top. Charlie Curnow got his first BOG for the year.
[6]   4 players got more than 100 votes: seems an anticlimax after the previous point, but this stat usually suggests how many dominant games we have.
[7]   3 players managed votes from all voters; Acres, Charlie Curnow and Saad. Ed Curnow missed out from 2 voters.
[8]   Of our newbies, Oliver Hollands again managed votes. Cowan can’t be too far away.
[9]   This week defenders didn’t dominate the voting, even though they played well. We were much more competitive in the midfield, as can be seen in the increased voting for the mids. Our forward also played better, as the votes are much better than last week.

 I have been terribly remiss here. I'll try to update as much as I can in the next couple of days.

AFL Rd 3:   Carlton vs GWS in Sydney
Not the most outstanding game we’ve ever played, but we won, for just the 2nd time at the Giants’ home ground. That is a terrible statistic!

Trends:
[1]   There were 15 voters this week, This is the same as for Rd 1, but it does make me wonder how many people will vote when we lose. Never mind, thank you to everyone who voted. Your time is appreciated.

[2]   The rating this week was 8.33, which represents a C+, which does show the general dissatisfaction with the way we played. It was not much higher than it was for the draw, back in Round 1.

[3]   15 players managed to get votes this week. This is one better than last week’s win, and the same as the draw in Round1. It does represent that a lot of our players made a contribution, which is a positive.

[4]   The average vote this week was 27, the same as for Round 1. It is a big drop compared to last week’s performance.

[5]   5 players managed 100 votes or more this week, which suggests that he had a good spread of good players. Last week there were 4, but those 4 managed over 200 votes each, the first time I can remember that happening. Considering that the number of voters is less these days, last week amazing.

[6]   Nic Newman managed the BOG this week, something he hasn’t done very often. He managed 322 votes, which is a truly dominant display. Cripps was second with 256 and Doc was third.

[7]   We had 2 players who got votes from all voters this week, Newman and Docherty. Silvagni, Cripps and Acres missed by 1 voter each.

[8]   Our newbies are doing their bit. Acres had his best game so far, while Cowan and Hollands did attract interest.

[9]   Our mids attracted votes more than any other segment of the team, even though Newman and Docherty stood out as performers. It is noticeable that our mids have not been able to show the consistency that we managed early last year and we are down significantly in clearances.

We won, coming from behind. We really dominated in patches, even though we were thrashed in the middle.

[2]   The rating this week was 8.81, which represents a B-. An improvement over last week.

[3]   15 players managed to get votes this week, the same as last week. It does represent that a lot of our players made a contribution, which I consider a real positive.

[4]   The average vote this week was 29, which is 2 better than last week. Not as good as the Geelong game though.

[5]   5 players managed 100 votes or more this week, which suggests that he had a good spread of good players.

[6]   Charlie Curnow managed the BOG this week, although he had considerable competition. He managed 297 votes, which is a truly dominant display. Three players managed more than 200 votes; Charlie, H and Mitch McGovern.

[7]   We had 2 players who got votes from all voters this week, Charlie and H. Mitch McGovern missed from 1 voter.

[8]   Our newbies were not as significant this week, but Ollie Hollands still is getting noticed.

[9]   Our defenders and key forward dominated the voting this week. Our mids were beaten and struggled to attract votes. Not for the first time this year either.

What a shocker. We were butchered in the middle.

[2]   The rating this week was 5.81, which represents a E-. Not just a loss, but a real comment on just how bad we were this week.

[3]   13 players managed to get votes this week, the worst of the season. It tells just uncompetitive we were this week.

[4]   The average vote this week was 19, which is the worst I can remember. I guess I didn't bother recording this stat during some of our worst years, but this is low.

[5]   2 players managed 100 votes or more this week, which suggests that we had few players were had significant contributions..

[6]   Nic Newman managed the BOG this week, for the 2nd time this year. He managed 284 votes, significantly higher than any two other players.

[7]   We had 2 players who got votes from all voters this week, Newman and Ed Curnow.

[8]   Our newbies were not as significant this week, but Ollie Hollands still is getting noticed.

[9]   Not even our defenders garnered many votes this week, as we were beaten in most aspects. Charlie Curnow managed to attract votes, as he always looks dangerous, but the other forwards didn't make a significant contribution.

Not as bad as last week, we were actually the better team for much of the game. But the outcome was very disappointing.

Trends:
[1]   There were 9 voters again this week, the equal worst we’ve managed for ages. Thank you to everyone who voted. Your time is appreciated, especially considering the result.

[2]   The rating this week was 6.89, which represents almost a D. Disappointing. Sounds accurate.

[3]   15 players managed to get votes this week, which is a considerable improvement over last week. It tells us that we were competitive, just not for long enough.

[4]   The average vote this week was 22, which is not as bad as last week. We made a step forward.

[5]   4 players managed 100 votes or more this week, which suggests that we had some significant contributors out there. But we were too inefficient.

[6]   Sam Walsh was the BOG this week, for the 1st time this year and in only his 2nd game for the season. He managed 233 votes, just higher than Patrick Cripps (207).

[7]   We had 2 players who got votes from all voters this week, Walsh and Cripps. Cerra and McGovern missed one voter.

[8]   Nice to see Cincotta show plenty on debut. Hollands managed a vote, but was not as effective as he has been.

[9]   Our mids and defenders were significant this round, but we couldn't find a way to the forwards. H and Charlie Curnow were both dangerous, but didn't see enough of the ball.

The best we’ve performed in years, but just how bad are the Weagles?

Trends:
[1]   There were 12 voters this week, something of a disappointment considering that this is our first 100-point victory for a decade.

[2]   The rating this week was 9.89, which was almost an A. It is our best result for some time and eclipsed our performance against Geelong.

[3]   There were 14 vote getters this week. A solid distribution, showing a lot of players did a lot of good.

[4]   The average vote this week was 32, equal to our best this year.

[5]   6 players scored more than 100 votes, which is the best we’ve managed this year.

[6]   Charlie Curnow scored 429 votes this week to be our BOG. A Judd-like score if there ever was one! Blake Acres and Nic Newman came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

[7]   Only [color=limegreen]1 player[/color], Blake Acres score votes from all voters. 2 missed from 1 voter and 2 missed from 2.

[8]   Nice to see Cincotta and Kemp score votes this week.

We weren't that bad in a lot of ways, but the disconnect between the mids and forward line was lethal. And our incredibly poor disposal was the difference between winning and losing.

[7]   Only 2 players, Newman and Owies. scored votes from all voters. Not even Walsh.

[8]   Not a big game from our youngsters this week, but then none of our performances were exactly brilliant.

[9]   Our backs and mids were our best this week; our forwards didn’t get a look-in. Why? Because we couldn't kick it to them.

[2]   The rating this week was 6.45, which was between an E- and D-. We are in a very poor vein of form.

[3]   There were 13 vote getters this week. A solid distribution, showing a lot of players did something. But nobody did enough and we had only one or two winners.

[4]   The average vote this week was 21, which is very ordinary. Good wins get scores above 30.

[5]   4 players scored more than 100 votes. None brilliant, but better than last week.

[6]   Sam Docherty scored his first BOG for the year with 229 votes. It was very close between the top three places, with Curnow and Cerra also getting *just) more than 200 votes.

[7]   Only 1 player, Charlie Curnow, scored votes from all voters. Doc and Cerra missed one voter, Sam Walsh missed two.

[8]   Not a big game from our youngsters this week, but then none of our performances were exactly brilliant although Hollands did get a mention.

[9]   No real pattern in this week's voting. Not enough from anyone, really.

Just the other day I voted for the first time this season but seeing this I remembered why I stopped. Seriously in what world has McGovern been better than Saad?

It is more that McGovern has had a couple of very good games, while Saad has been more consistent, we have a higher expectation of him. Hence it is more difficult for him to get votes.
Both have scored votes in the same number of games.

Adam Cerra has taken the lead with his 3rd BOG of the season. He has been in the top 3 players 6 times this year.
Charlie has fallen back to second, but is still a consistent poller. He has managed 5 games in the top 3, with 3 BOG's.
Doc continues his consistent vote winning. Even though he probably played better last year, he has still managed votes in all but 2 games. Last year he got votes in every game we played.

One of the better wins in recent times. However, with injuries to Pittonet and de Koning, it makes the future look problematical.

[5]   6 players managed 100 votes or more this week, which is phenomenal! It shows we had a lot of dominant players, not just one or two.

Winning without a definite ruck was excellent. To win as we did, after the bye, was excellent.

Winning in Perth, winning without a proper ruckman, winning like we did; so much to like this week.

Probably our best win since our glory days, we smashed a premiership contender into the dust. It was so good to see.

The first half was as good a footballas anyone has played this century. The second half we limped over the line with injuries. But a 71 point win doesn't come around every day.

To beat Collingwood the way we did was superb! One of the great wins.

The first time we've beaten Melbourne in a long time, and a hard contest for the night. We really deserved this one.

Not our best game for the year; the 1st quarter was ordinary, but the last 3 were strong. But we won on the Gold Coast, which is a big positive.

Is this a particularly even leaderboard Crash?

Apart from some of Charlie’s efforts, the games Cez dominated and Weiter’s heroics, our season has been memorable for solid contributions by the team as a whole.

There has never been a season where so many players get recognized in single games, and not just because I spread the votes out. There has been a big spread most weeks, even when we were losing.
At it is unusual to be so close at the top. In the past, one or two players clear out from the rest. Not this year.

AFL 1st Semi Final:   Carlton vs Sydney
Our first final for a decade and an excellent result.

Trends:
[1]   There were 10 voters this week, a really small number for such a significant game. Such is life, but I did expect more.

Alas, we couldn't put it together for 4 quarters. A disappointing way to finisha year or marvels. Now to put it altogether in 2024.
