The Blues played Port Melbourne and beat them comfortably.
CARL 3.1 (19) 5.6 (36) 5.6 (36) 6.8 (44)
PORT MELB 0.3 (3) 1.4 (10) 2.6 (18) 2.8 (20)
A number of the AFLW girls played: apparently, each team is allowed a maximum of 10 to play each week.

HF: 6. E. Honeybun, 17. K. Day, 40. C. Bernardi (captain)
F: 26. M. Cowan, 18. E. Hurley
R: 8. M. Runting, 1. A. Klingbeil, 20. M. Di Cosmo
INT: 39. J. Dunne, 21. V. Murphy, 27. A. Thorneycroft, 36. A. Lee
EMG: 4. C. Bain, 10. E. Wood, 28. T. Kolevski, 16. L. Robertson
These are the AFLW girls who have been named as availavble for the VFLW:
Mia Austin, Jess Dal Pos, Jess Good, Lily Goss, Maddy Guerin, Mimi Hill, Mua Laloifi, Annie Lee, Abbie McKay, Phoebe McWilliams, Imogen Milford, Breann Moody, Elise O'Dea, Taylor Ortlepp, Kerryn Peterson, Gab Pound, Keeley Sherar, Keeley Skepper, Paige Trudgeon, Amelia Velardo, Darcy Vescio, Brooke Vickers, Daisy Walker
Mind you, since this list was made, there have already been some changes. Elise O'Dea, for example, has retired. I doubt she'll play.
You will note that only 2 AFLW girls played this week.
I heard on the grapevine Trudgeon was probably BoG or at least one of the best, that's good news for our AFLW squad.
Do we have an AFLW coach yet?
Alas, no. It would be handy to have one sooner rather than later, but it is clear we're trying to find 'the right one'.
This Saturday at Carlton at 13:00, we play Geelong. Maybe we'll play a couple more AFLW girls, as only 2 played last round.
The team for this week's game:
B: P. Trudegon (14) K. Lennox (13)
HB: A. Bild (7) G. Lawson-Tavan (10) B. Gurr (9)
C: E. Hosking (3) I. Khoury (5) O. Di Donato (31)
HF: E. Honybun (6) C. Bernardi (40) A. Thorneycroft (27)
F: M. Cowan (26) E. Hurley (18)
R: M. Runting (8 ) A. Klingbeil (1) M. Di Cosmo (20)
INT: B. Vickers (36) V. Murphy (21) G. Tait (29) C. Bain (4) K. Day (17)
EMG E. Wood (11) L. Robertson (16) T. Nicolaou (22) T. Kolevski (28) J. Dunne (39) R. Watts (35)
Still on 2 AFLW girls. A plan for the season? Maybe. Not sure other teams will do the same, not when 10 are allowed for any one game.
Maybe they want to see who can play and then look to promote ?
On the other hand most will play better with senior players, playing with system… have we had a system the past couple of seasons ?
The girls lost by one point.
Carlton 2 - 9 - 21
Geelong 3 - 4 - 22
Disappointing.
Goal kicking lessons required for everyone wearing a navy blue jumper this week.
VFLW - 2.9
VFL - 5.15
AFL - 9.20
TOTAL 16.44
I couldn't find the VFLW team to post before the game, but there were a couple of changes. We played 3 AFLW girls this week: Taylor Ortlepp was the inclusion.
The girls played Essendon, last year's premiers, and destroyed them.
Carlton: 10 - 8 - 68
Drug Cheats: 2 - 2 - 14

Two more AFLW girls this week for the game against North Melbourne at Arden St.
Another big win to the girls, similar to last week.
Carlton 7 - 9 - 51
North Melbourne 2 - 4 - 16
Again, the girls really ran over the opposition in the 2nd half.

Thats a Keeley good half forward line.
Pity we got flogged. A real disappointment after some very good weeks.
Not sure if its my poor attempt at humour, or everyone being conditioned to autocorrect (or both) but i was attempted to point out that there was 2 'Keeleys' in the same line. Skepper and Sherar. :-[
But yes, disappointing result.
Was just checking up on our results overall.
Lost to Cats by 1 point (who sit top)
Beat the borough by 24 points (who sit 2nd)
We are 3rd
Flogged Kangas who are 6th
Flogged Bombers who are 8th.
Then we get flogged by 10th.....out of 12.
If thats not bad enough, Round 6 and we are playing agaisnt the borough....again!
Not sure i understand the logic of either the result, or the fixture.
This week we play Casey on Saturday at 1415 at Carlton.

Hope we do a bit better this week.
Didn't get to watch it, but looks like a good finish to win against one of the competitions lower sides.
Stat wise Sherar must have been an arm and leg ahead of the rest.
Haven't posted much on this thread of late. We're 8th at this point, but we did defeat Collingwood today.
Girls made the finals for the 1st time last week. Excellent news. Still a long way to go, but credit goes where it is due.
Won our first final,
Indeed.
Carlton 3 - 3 - 21
Willi 2 - 6 - 18
On their onw dung hill. Pretty decent performance consider they thrashed us last time.
Given how poor our AFLW team has become. I think its remarkable how well our VFLW team has been doing. They don't really have access to the top girls of our AFLW team, so they are going out there with the no-names making up numbers. Impressive stuff.
Great result for the team. Well done 👏🏼
Girls lost today by 1 point. Great effort.
1 point away from a grand final?
Bombers of '99
So near yet so far 🙁
It has been a markedly improved performance by our VFLW team and I’m hoping that reflects a new approach to the women’s program. The material coming from the AFLW team suggests that is the case. Let’s hope so!
