All ready for tomorrow night. I won't be at this one, but the game is on TV.
DID .... NOT....NEED...THAT
High on Crippa?
GO AND GET STUFFED
KEYS has started
Tighten up the clearances Blues.
Gee we can be dumb
Not the best of starts - time to crack in Baggers.
They are making us look farken stupid
Crows all over us atm
We aren't attacking the footy, we are waiting for it to come to us.
Croweaters sure have brought the heat, and we're not handling it too well. McGovern a big loss already.
Call for a head count, we are outnumbered everywhere.
Sure by hand and foot and agressive.
5-1
Bloody plowman lol
Where the fu$% is Carlton.
Oh hang on it's Carlton of old
Putrid start. They want it. We don't.
We know how that ends
Sheesh, this could be all over before we know it!
Bit timid at the contest and being out muscled and out run.
Dawson cannot be allowed to play off Cripps....get Ed on him.
6 straight (different goal kickers). This game has simply continued on from last years, its embarrassing thus far.
Adelaide 80% disposal efficiency
66.7% efficiency inside 50 is off the charts
Not getting a look in atm! 🙄
All over by half way through the first quarter... bit of a joke
Farken handballs over the shoulder, no look, piss off blues. Look for a target and hit it, none of this cute crap.
Just looked at the match stats... as you'd guess, getting a hiding... just can't get the aggott at all!
They believed, we shat our pants, this is over already with 7 mins to got in the first.
Game over what a f#,*#* joke.
Wave goodbye
Couldn't have a worse start.
They've got us
Unacceptable.
Log off time
Horrible start. We’ll find out a little about this group and what they’re made of in the next three.
Disgusting
An absolute slaughter atm.
Looks like we've gathered in Adelaide.....For a F#c@k*n Holiday >:(
Our worst quarter of football by the length of the Flemmington straight.
Game over. Turn off and watch something else.
I have never been so embarrassed.
I will guarantee you we will not kick two goals in a row all night.
We've now entered 'farce' territory.
We're on Valium, they're on Speed.
I reckon Charlies was the first contested mark so far for us.
Just took another one
Dawson and Laird are just playing on their own , we can't let that continue.
So here's what we are doing wrong:
- Over the shoulder backwards handballs
- Second to the footy
- Watching the man not the footy, especially our rucks and defenders.
- Our tackling is soft
- Our kicking is woeful
Here's what we are doing well:
-
When Charlie bangs it OOTF, you know we're farked.
I said in the pre game, i hope they turn up with the right mindset.
FMD
Saw it coming.
#^$&&&^%%$$#@!#$^^&&
The only upside if there is one - the way Adelaide is playing is off the charts and not sustainable.
If we win 2nd qtr by two goals we might be in with a small chance but cant allow another VFL v AFL type quarter again.
Some fun facts
128 disposals to 62
20 to 12 I50s
Clearances 16 to 8
Marks 28 to 11
The only stat we are winning is turnovers by 1
If there's a positive it might come in the form of a lesson in 'humility.'
They need to know they can't turn up half-arsed.
Absolutely clueless. Hopefully crows will run out of gas but too far down anyway.
.
Embarrassing !!!
Lack of contest + lack of pressure + lack of care = 6-goal quarter time deficit.
At least we're still going....
This from one of the facebook pages
Similar thought. That just cannot be sustained though it could be if we remain meek. We attack the 2nd with everything we've got and we may pull it back a few. We only need a sniff.
7 unanswered goals to get our nose in front.
Not going to happen IMO.
This might prove to be one of those times where we haven't learnt to win
Everytime we go to Adelaide we NEVER show up.
It's a disgrace and they should say sorry to the sa fans.
The positives is that we haven't been able to get our hands on the ball the crows have been so dominant.
I'd be more worried if it was even disposals.
They've had OVER double our possessions.
They've had double our free kicks.
We'll come back.....by how much and will it be enough? We'll have 3 quarters to find out...
We are literally crapting our pants every time we go near it. They are man handling and brushing us aside like we are school kids.
If Voss said to the guys, "Go out there and screw everything you do up", we couldn't do it this well.
All we are doing is manning grass not players
Honey IN
Pittonet OUT
not really like for like there.
Same i50
6 goals down
Impressive stat
Good grinding goal. Keep grinding Baggers
Starting to claw back possession but not capitalising i50.
Only a very big improvement there will make a game of it.
Go Blues
Last time we coughed up an 8 goal 1st qtr we won. Round 21, 2013 v Richmond.
Got to have some optimism....lol.
They know we're coming....
Hopefully the extra run will help.
It will....now.
TDK will be running on the spot by the last quarter though
I'd like to see that magical pressure gauge they show from time to time. We;d have to be elite for this last 10-15 minutes.
That's more like it
Keep chipping away boys
How come Newys mark wasn't paid?
Might only need 1 quarter the way we are going. ;)
I keep hearing old Barrassi's words ringing in my ears.
"You give me possession, and i'll shutup!"
Out blokes need to STOP MAN WACTHING and start WATCHING THE FOOTY.
Was called touched off the boot.
How come the blatent in the back wasn't paid for the tackle when he 'marked' it??
Not 15 metres according to the umps.
Cripps 7 possessions
George 6 possessions
Kennedy 6 posessions
Lots of upside but fingers need to pulled out.
All the good work brought undone.
Honey can GAGF'd, chase you FFS.
Still gotta fix the old junk time goals problem.
Gutsy quarter. Shame about those junk time goals. Game not over by any means.
Couple of more observations:
- We tackle far too low leaving the arms free to dispose effectively.
- We are slow to either give off or kick, opposition know this and they close hard on us putting us under pressure. We do the complete opposite when we don't have it, we give them time and space.
In any case, it's now official, we are Adelaides Bitches.
We've been good in the air. Tonight we're not in the marking contest.
What's going on there?
Porn-mo Fogarty is marking in the danger zone. Our defence is off.
F'n pathetic in last 5 minutes. WAP.
Reckon Weitering craps himself if he sees Taylor or Fogarty.
We are too slow and predictable.
Jack Silvagni...... tries hard but is not AFL standard. Disposal is just not good enough.
And the last kick of q2 to Fogarty was 😠
Getting smashed in the clearances.
But doing better in stoppages this week.
I thought the 1st quarter umpiring was terrible. Better in the second, but that decision was suss.
As Hodge said on radio this morning, Adelaide plays a system based game. We are totally systemless at the minute. Every disposal is one in hope. We crowd areas and deliver to those areas instead of creating space (and hence time) for ourselves. When we turn it over, the other mob is off to the races because guess what? They are in space.
We need to man up not guard grass
Just crazy having more i50 and trailing by 6 goals 😳
Only last week I felt confident in our defence. And then.... Doc out and it turns to butter
Saad caught half way between two contests four or five times in the half. The guy is as quick as anyone, reeks of poor strategy.
Of course. Late out... what a difference
Its the way our mids are allowing their mids to deliver it. You could have Doull, Southby, Hunter and they wouldnt defend this.
Defence has been atrocious tonight but no favours from midfield they have been worse.
Not sure how Kennedy and Newman end up on Tex.
That centre bounce is why SOS as a ruck is doable.
Lost the hitout, but put in a good enough contest, that the hitout was ineffective and we managed to get the clearance from a 50-50 contest.
Their defenders are taking pack marks in our F50 LOL
3 over the shoulder no look handballs in a row in our fwd line, that's gotta be a record.
Or the boundary throw in where it was a 50-50, but SOS got the tackle and and clearance once the ball hit the deck?
Or that one where it was an adelaide hitout to our guys and we got a free.
Actually watch.
We might not get the hitout, but we get the ball from the clearance anyway......so why do we need 2 rucks?
Something else is now official. Teams have worked out that our kick down the line to Harry is so predictable that it gets picked off now.
What is our paln bringing the ball out of the backline? Short to a pocket then a bomb to the wing. Beginning to worry about the strategy side of Voss coaching.
At this rate, I will be forced to give my Jim Park Votes to Adelaide players.
Missing the line breaking run and kicking of Docherty (and McGovern) throws a pretty big spanner in the plan of exiting our backline.
If you are Adelaide, you sit on Saad all night and thats just about us all out of options.
If we get Sean Darcy then yeah Jack could be 2nd ruck. Currently TDK can't support a non ruckman and Pittonet never will.
We aren't Adelaide's bitches, we are Ben Key's bitches. Honestly, its ground hog day.
So thankful we have TDK as our 2nd ruck. That height really came in handy on the goal line.
Pity we didn't get a set of brains with that package.
What was he thinking!!!
Dawson has the same number of possessions as Cripps, Hewett and Kennedy combined.
Errrr... I'll put this game down as an aberation.
SOS looks injured. Carrying a rib injury? Maybe a shoulder?
Plowman's kicking hasn't improved.
I'll take aberration and raise you.
Abomination 🙂
Glad we can have some fun while our team sinks. Stinks!
Seems to have recovered with that effort including full stretch smother.
And that my friends just caps off our night, our 2021 Coleman medalist.
FYI, SIlvagni (4) has more clearances than Cripps (3) (and everybody else in a carlton jumper besides Cerra (5) Walsh (4))
Not bad for a non-ruckman. Maybe we should just play him as a midfielder?
Perhaps a midfielder that jumps at the ball as well....
And suddenly a new contender has emerged, L Plowman
Omg a plowman special. As if we weren’t embarrassed enough
Been smashed in the ruck plus Dawson and Laird have been on their own all evening......
At least it made me laugh.
Footy headlines
Blues new way to lose:
Caught standing around dreaming for 30 minutes and give up 6 unanswered goals.
I was going to write the same.
It looked like he overstreched at a contest.
He grabbed at his chest then walked from the contest with his arm hanging.
But he seemed to be OK after that.
It might have just been a minor setback.
That smother on the boundary came after that I think, so I'm guessing he's OK
Hopefully its a wake up call - we are going to lose a game here and there but need a premier ruck. Watch Ned Moyle from the Suns 21 y.o 206cm beast. TDK is all over the shop.
Dawson + Laird = 57 touches, 14 clearances, 13 tackles, 4 goal assists
Walsh + Cerra = 40 touches, 9 clearances, 12 tackles, 0 goal assists
Cripps + Kennedy + Hewitt = 33 touches, 6 clearances, 15 tackles, 1 goal assist
Too many passengers & too predictable into the forwardline.
Off to the trade table & draft please !!!
A familiar old story, winning inside 50s and clearances but losing the game, and heavily.
Well if we kick a goal every minute like that from here, we'll win by 12 goals!
SOS battles manfully in the ruck, but he’s only there as a necessity, not as a desirable option that helps us win games of footy. He’s better off being deployed elsewhere.
Wrestled back the clearances but is it too little too late?
Harry Mckay is a monster of a man but we don't want to risk him. That's our problem right there.
You could say the same about TDK....except he offers us less elsewhere. (He takes one hangar every 3 weeks, which looks good, but does it REALLY make a difference?)
If Jack plays 20% game time in the ruck, and the end result is a 'draw' in the ruck. I'll take that.
He'll play 70% game time where we need him, doing what we want him to do.
10% on the bench and thats sustainable.
We don't NEED 2 'full time' rucks playing in the team at once.
Jack gets smashed in the ruck.
Wtf are you watching?
One really good one would be a start ..... not a couple of dumb gits who don't think it through.
When you don't have the ball, you can tackle. 71 times so far!
That's one of our positive lessons.
Plowman gets smashed all the time but the same people here keep supporting this myth that he's not that bad. He is hopeless.
Plowman is an absolute coach killer
Actually miss Levi for that role.
Top of my "whipping boy" list and for damn good reason too !!!
I'm starting to have second thoughts on Acres too !!
What is more important?
Hitouts or clearances?
Hitouts mean SFA unless they are to advantage.
80% of hitouts go to a 50-50 contest.
If Jack competing gives us a hitout that goes to a 50-50 contest (even if it comes off the hand of the opposition) then its a battle of our midfield vs theirs.
Forget about watching the hitout, watch the clearance.
I've just watched 2 ruck contests with Jack. He lost both hitouts.
Cripps got the clearance in one.
Jack got it in the other.
Yes, 'smashed' in the ruck contest, but in both cases, we wont the clearance which is all that matters.
His 'competing' in the ruck is all we need. We don't need him to win it, just compete.
EDIT
As i say that, he won the hitout, to advantage and we got another clearance.
EDIT2:
Jack won the next ruck clearance by himself as well.
We delisted Stocker LMAO
I have watched the entire game. Smashedin the ruck and clearances.
Plowman ............. can you ever kick the ball forwards ........... FMD, twice in a minute he retreated and kicked it behind.
It is so deflating & negative to do that, he has to go back tothe VFL and stay there for the remainder of the season, then booted off permanently at seasons end..
Need to drop Plowman, Cowman, Fisher and Honey for next week.
VFL tomorrow will be interesting.
George has played three poor games in a row and needs to be dropped too.
George clearly shouldn't be playing. Don't play injured players.
Test of coaching group on how they value on field standards
Do you want to book the eye appointment or should I book it for you?
Pittonet 5 hitouts, 1 clearance.
TDK 15 hitouts, 2 clearances
Jack 5 hitouts, 7 clearances.
TOTAL hitouts
Crows - 52
Blues - 27
TOTAL clearances
Crows - 35
Blues - 38
Smashed in every facet, coaches, the whole lot.
First loss, it was coming. Not so worried about the loss per se, all clubs have stinkers, more about how we learn and rebound from it. Same thing next week and it is a different matter.
So Jack for full time ruck hey?
Insipid.
They just want it to be over now....so do I >:(
Out to 50-points ......... every player should be made to walk home to Melbourne after this pathetic effort.
Dismal across every facet of the game.
A hiding from what many say is an average club. Superior again tonight.
Same old story
After very careful analysis and consideration, a feckin' pathetic performance all round. Very depressing. 😕
They're playing with us now.
Who picked this as a Crows % booster?
Fisher, Honey, Plowman, Ed just aren't up to it. Cripps, Cera, Harry all terribly down on form..We are a mile off the pace, lack of pace through the midfield is a real worry, especially with the saints next week.
I take it that is you 'conceding' then?
I've said it since the pre-seson.
2 rucks are not required when you have Jack as the 2nd ruck.
If Jack was injured, be my guest, play 2 rucks.
If TDK (or Pitto) was capable of playing another position, sure, play 2 rucks.
Pitto is #1 ruck.
TDK SHOULD end up being #1 ruck, but right now, he is barely #2 ruck.
By having the extra big body on the field, it means we can play an extra small.....like tonight, an extra small defender/stopper would've helped.
Wow- Honey, Fisher, E Curnow, Silvagni, Acres, Kennedy, Plowman all very average
No pace, no spark
Don’t like it tough
This is the first time we've 'given up' for a while....potentially first ever under Voss?
I suspect a lot of changes this week as a result.
Lose, if you have to, but do it by giving your all and going down swinging.
The way this has turned out will have him fuming.
No point singling out blokes tonight, 23 passengers fraudulently donned Carlton jumpers tonight.
Not hard enough at the initial contest and then exposed for pace once the ball got outside.......Cripps, Hewett, Kennedy and Fisher are ok at the coalface but cant really man anyone up who has some legspeed and players like Dawson and Laird were just on their own too often.
Obrien had a picnic in the ruck and Rowan Marshall plays the game the same way so we need to address that for next week.
