The game starts at 11:05, so it will be well over by the time the senior game begins at Marvel.
Nothing yet as to who will play on Sunday morning.
However, Boyd, Martin and Cottrell could all play.
It’s on soon. To watch it, Google VFL Fixtures, click on the link to the afl.com.au page and then navigate with another couple of clicks to the match centre. The watch video button appears when the time is nigh.
Only Jordan Boyd is currently listed in the team. Martin and Cottrell aren’t.
Apparently, Plowman is the only emergency playing today. Lemmey and Mirkov are out.
So, what are we to make of TdK, Kemp & LOB sitting out? Either there are a couple of withdrawals to the selected senior side or we’re trying to play ducks & drakes with the opposition over the identity of the sub.
I guess at least 2 of the emergencies would have to be held back in case there’s an injury in the warm-up.
None of the 1st choice VFL rucks playing, Sam Durdin a late withdrawal, sounds like some late AFL changes coming.
Sandy 4pts up at qtr time.
Good to see Carroll playing well. Bit of a skeleton crew in the Magoos.
Undermanned squad, but Dow and Fogarty look the best of the available options, I have to say Dow looks much better playing out of the Back Pocket.
Hard to understand why in the absence of Owies that Fogarty can't get a run in the AFL.
Tall Durds also not playing in the Magoos... I wonder who hasn't come up? Blacres?
It’s not too hard to imagine flu ripping through the VFL team. Fortunately, the VFL & AFL teams are reasonably separate.
I really do like the look Jaxon B. Deft disposal. Won't be long before he gets a call up.
Binns, Carroll, Dow, Boyd & Fogs all playing well...
Scores level, 25 minute mark of the 2nd. Our inaccuracy is costly.
Boyd has a simple flaw in his game, he gets to good positions and runs hard, but he runs straight lines which leaves him susceptible to being run down. If he could learn to make the odd baulk / quick side-step, he would create some time and space for himself.
Half time.
Us: 4.8
Them: 6.2
You can see that Boyd is a little rusty, but is working his way into the game nicely...
O'Keefe has good hands and a dash of agro -- we like that -- but is pushed off the ball in contests a little too easily, once he fills out he just might be the goods.
Dom A was going well until he dropped a sitter in front of goal, letting the opposition in for a soda.
Who is number 25 for us?
Someone running around in a spare jumper probably, was it Trudgeon in 25 last season, not sure about this year?
Binns is normally 32, wearing 25 at the moment.
Bit bizarre the commentator claiming the first half was stop /start, what fecking game are they watching?
It's basically been end to end without scoring goals.
That is a commentator just dribbling sh1t to have something to say!
left out by the selectors. Binns will be collected for a call up soon enough...
I'll see myself out.
Binns has worn #25 in at least the last two games :-\
Blues win by 3 pts! Phew. Pretty good effort considering the late 'outs.'
Dow 40 touches....he's got to be better than that, ::)
Blues: 9.17
Sandy: 10.8
8 more shots on goal, including 2 OOTF.
Ned Cahill 4 goals, rest singles.
Fogarty, Dow, Binns & Carroll probably best of the AFL listed blokes, and Boyd until he went off.
VFL boys: Cahill & Swaney deserve a mention.
11 more frees to Sandy, definitely got the rub of the green. Some pretty perplexing decisions.
O'Brien and Kemp held over as the two emergencies and TDK actually 'managed' due to soreness etc?? Maybe he just needed a rest!
TC....I reckon they both might play....not sure on McGovern and someone mentioned Acres in doubt today too. They would both likely be the replacements?
Quite frustrating in front of goals. Basically kept them in the game.
I liked Fog, Dow, Binns. O'Keeffe is light but was good at ground level.
Cahill and Ronke understandably worry their opponents.
4pts is 4pts.
He could 80 and wouldnt get a game.
It's a better game when he was running out of D50, but he still turns over a high percentage of the footy he gets which remains a problem. We were lucky the opposition wasted it just as much as we turned it over.
Fogarty is a much better ball user, early on I thought we were all over the opposition, and the setup was better with Dow in D50 and Fogarty up the ground, not sure why we changed it, crooked kicking for goal isn't caused by where Dow and Fogarty start.
Binns got plenty, but was also pretty wasteful, very lightweight for an AFL lister.

An excellent result for such an undermanned team. Pity this is so different to who actually played, and it was published the day of the game.
Ned Cahill could well get a call up if he continues getting the ball like that. He, at least, has some idea where to go to get the ball in the forward line.
With some of the poor form from some senior players, I reckon Dow has to play next week. Maybe Carroll: I'm not sure he has what it takes, but he is showing a tad more than Honey is at the moment.
We had 8 taps, yet Dow has 40 possessions!
How many tackles?
Thats the number selectors want to see. They know he can get the footy. Can he stop the opposition when they get it though?
Do they...Fisher had zero tackles today and not for the first time.....not one player had a bounce today even with Stkilda playing a sagging half court defense. Id be trying Dow...whats to lose?
Fisher has speed though.
If Dow could run like Fisher, he'd be getting a game.
Dow can't, so he needs to do something else. Getting 40 touches isn't enough.
We have no problem getting the ball through the midfield.
Cerra (39)
Walsh (38)
Acres (36)
Cripps (34)
Hewitt (29)
Fisher (22)
Kennedy (21)
Dow is not going to replace any of them for ball winning ability, except maybe Fisher....but he hasn't got the speed to replace him.
Ed Curnow had a mere 5 touches today and got subbed (at 3/4 time?) so he can take his spot......but Ed is basically there as a tagger. Can Dow do that role?
Dow had 5 tackles and 5 marks, 22 kicks and 18 handballs. 6 clearances.
Probably not, but he probably needs a go.
Dow has Fisher covered for speed....but on anotheranf more important issue, Fisher is dead set taking the p1ss right now and should be sitting in Voss' office at 903 tomorrow explaining why he shouldn't be dropped for the twos for the rest of the year.
I dont see Fisher as quick or a player who takes a lot of bounces....Dow is more of a burst player with that initial speed away from packs, ok we know that can lead to him using it like a headless chook leading to turnovers but I see him as more that power athlete.
Dow > Honey
Fogarty > Fisher
Fisher has speed but he doesn't use it....he doesn't chase with intent or use it to catch blokes. How he continues to have no impact yet get games staggers me. What is his role, and why isn't he doing it?
Dows problem is disposal, but he is a point of difference to the rest of our one paced sadly out of form midfield group.
Should be a prospect for a job on Ch7
So Kemp didn't play at all?
Neither did Big Durdin, so it seems we are well and truly back to a few of our old tricks relating to player fitness and team management.
It'll all be forgiven if we can find some form in 2023.
I really hope Dow doesn't get a senior game in 2023.
It will ruin his J.J. Liston chances. ::)
....and thus his trade value ;)
:)) :)) :)) you're a character, Principal LODS. I bet that dry wit abounds around the barbie with a couple quality reds! ;) ;D
