15:20 at the MCG. The game is a sell out. Will we turn up?
Here we go
Good start Harry
Pittonet is starting well against Cox.
We are crumbling under pressure again..
Can someone on here explain why TDK is in the reserves?
We are sh1t
Voss looks broken
We are fu$%ing hopeless. FRIGGING HOPELESS
Yep. Keeping it consistent. 1 goal v 5 in q1 😔
It's our new thing, allowing sides to kicking multiple goals without us actually touching it.
I'm hoping there is a 6 goal wind. :)) :)) :))
Shellshocked for the first 2/3 of that qtr but maybe started to recover some composure by the end. The damage may already have been done though. Agree, Vossy just looked incredulous.
At least we hold the scoreline during the break
That's all the positives I have.
Looking at all our blokes playing 2's, we are clueless adjusting to weather conditions.
Note to MC. Penderby himself and Sidebehind are playing for the opposition O0 O0
Same old. Do all the yards to get it i50. Then fall over. Do we even have a fwd coach?
When do we complain to the AFL about H’s head ?
He’s had more head cuts than Rocky Balboa !
So much for the head being sacrosanct
Put a fork in us, we are done !!!!
Some big threads coming this week.
McGovern is a squib too !!!
....because we got beaten by the #1 side in the comp....as expected?
We are a joke.
Walsh super unlucky there.....should've cost us a goal.
But elliot only kicks the ones that matter.
Mate you used to make excuses after excuses about our injuries but we have close to a full strength team and still can’t t beat anyone of note. This is looking like a10 goal plus loss.
Charlie to the lead in the Coleman...about all we can hope for now.
FYI, I wrote this in the pre-game thread.
We are not in form. We don't have as many injuries as last year, but still some key players not available.
Who is missing from Collingwoods best 22 btw?
Lipinski, McStay, Howe are probably the only ones I can think of who'd be in their best 22.....for us, arguably only Williams and maybe Martin.
Just over 34% efficiency inside F50....that's been our trouble all season.
We’re sh1t mate. Take the blue glasses off.
Middle of the road team at best.
It's time we faced reality about some of our players instead of living in la-la-land !!
I'd have Cuningham is he was available and in the pre-season Marchbank was also just in my best 22.
So call injuries even if you like.
Collingwood are still a better side than us.
They are in form.
We are not.
We hope to find form soon.
Collingwood haven't been out of form for over a year now.
No real surprises in any of that. Pies will make plenty of teams look average this season.
Have i suggested otherwise?
We are a 'middle 6' team. Our results in the Voss era show exactly that.
Why anyone thinks differently has me f***ked.
Why anyone thinks we were going to knock off collingwood has me f***ked.
The people who are angriest are the people who have unrealistic expectations.
Big second half coming up
Unrealistic expectations? We are 8 years into a rebuild never made final and will go backwards this year despite having a decent run with injures and finish bottom 6.
We have every right to feel pi55ed off.
I'd suggest that at the moment we're looking like a bottom 6 side! We've beaten Geelong when they were ordinary outta the blocks....fell over the line against GWS....and beat up on North and West Coast.
I think the expectations were there this year because we were in the top 8 for all bar about 2 minutes last season and suffered a horrendous run of injuries in the middle part of the season when we were down to Young as our only key defender at one point.
Walsh was missing early and we lost Williams in the pre-season, but Acres came in ready made and Hollands has added a bit. But we've fallen away dramatically from last season IMO.
You can clearly see the boys giving effort and having a crack, but the Pies move-the-ball-forward-at-all-costs, extreme run and gun style, is clearly troubling us and many other sides. What they do, they do extremely well.
You can say we are 20 years into a rebuild if you want. Reality is, every time we sack a coach, we start again.
We are not even 18 months into this current phase.
In that 18 months we have...
New President
New CEO
New Senior coach
New assistant coaches
and plenty of new players.
None of which have anything to do with what happened 18 months before.
You may well remember that i have been opposed to sacking the coach from every coach since Pagan! I would've kept Ratten, (supported) Malthouse, Bolton and Teague.....and have no issues with Voss.
We need some kind of stability. The complete lack of is why our 'rebuilds' are continuing....reality, we get halfway through a build, demolish it and start again.
We have never come close to finishing a rebuild. Until we do, we'll never get to where we want to get too.
The ball movement and player positioning of the Pies is something to behold live.
Going by the ladder before this round started....
Vs top 6 - 0-3
Vs mid 6 - 1-1-1
Vs Bot 6 - 3-0
Trend continues today.
We are mid-6 and results show it. We are having a tough run both fixture wise and form wise. But its better being 'down' against top sides. By the time we play some lower/mid sides, hopefully we find some more form.
We on the other hand have had our game disassembled from early last year, we need to either make tweaks or make the tweaks work better.
Early last year the forward handball was devastating for us this year hardly sighted.
Let's see how we go in the second half. A lot could be answered in the next 60 min.
I just want to see some GUTS AND DETERMINATION......
O0 O0
The Filth are able to ruck Cox vs Pitto because Pitto does not offer much ruck impact, they can square the contest with the B-Grade ruck option and then we are stuck with SoJ vs Cameron, Cameron is basically ending SoJ's career as we watch. This is horrendous by our MC, it's happening game after game.
I think Pitto might have peripheral vision problems, because multiple times he does all the hustle and bustle to win an uncontested tap, and then sends it straight to the opposition, our slower heavier mids are then powerless to put on the brakes.
Motlop is better today, but Durdin is struggling against the bigger bodies.
Overcorrection based on a few games last year, and early this year.
We were getting hurt on the rebound and had trouble defending it.
So now, we go slower, more deliberate trying to stop being scored against on the rebound....which is working.
However, its hurting our scoring and helping the opposition defend as they have more time to get back and do so.
We need to be faster, more direct......but we need to have the skills and smarts to do that,
This is why i think Williamson, Martin, Cuningham not being available for selection (and Fisher out of form) is hurting us big time.
Seems as though we've activated the sub, and I believe from the radio that McGovern is playing forward.
I didn’t have Hollands off on my bingo card …
Pittonet is #27 yeah. Not sure who you think he is.
Stats at this point in time.
Pittonet 13 hitouts, 8 disposals, 5 clearances, 1 goal assist
Cox+Cameron- 15 hitouts, 7 disposals, 1 clearance, 1 goal assist.
Might want to get your eyes checked mate. Pitto has the same stats as them combined!
Voss is going to come under the microscope too this week and for very good reason.
We are too predictable all over the ground, there is little system and we have players not committing to the contest 100%.
Moore banqueting on our pathetic attempts to hit predictable F50 targets.
More disposals, more contested possessions, same number of hitouts, virtually same number of inside 50's.....even more free kicks....and down by 6 goals. Efficiency inside 50 now 30%...no chance you're winning games with that sort of number regardless of who you're playing against.
Amen.
Despite the highly rated twin towers.
When a Rookie basketballer is a main entry to goal, and has been out injured, it leaves me speechless
3 of 5 goals from free kicks 😆
We lift our pressure and guess what happens 🤔
Career over McGovern
Motlop tries a banana from 45 metres out. Dumbest group of footballers
Front on contact isn’t a thing either !
Two half holding the balls against Ed = 1 free kick.
To be fair, does the rule protect someone who’s running with the flight of the ball or the guy running at the ball?
Pit has outdone Motlop. Umpire calls no Collingwood ruck and pit proceeds to tap it to a loose pies player.
Nothing in head.
Watch it again.
Had he taken it out of the ruck, he would've been tackled before he disposed of it.
Instead he punched it into space, towards the boundary/our forward line where we had a player running into it. Pies player got it first.
Pity we kicked 1.4. Intensity and pressure is up.
Carlton is the crapiest team of ALL crapiest teams EVER!
Get given sooooo many chances and just piss them up the wall.
Supposed to be a PROFESSIONAL TEAM! ::)
My understanding is that the guy running with the flight can get away with anything if he marks it
Anyone who’s questioning effort is not watching
Given Sidebottom got nowhere near the ball, you could call that an unrealistic attempt to mark it as well.
Pretty clear its a talent issue.
Scoreboard alone shows you that.
For all the negatives out of today, if the accuracy was reversed, we'd be loving life.
Same amount of scoring shots....just not accurate.
Lol. Do you really think pit has the brain to think all that in a split second. Not a fking chance.
I know he’s your love child but he is a dumb clumsy footballer buddy. Stop defending and call it as it is.
I rated McGovern but today i realised I’m also beating a dead horse. It’s ok not to be right every single time.
Didn’t Sidebottom punch the ball?
If you don't expect much you don't get disappointed.
Never thought we'd win, so I don't feel upset or angry anymore.
They are just holding us. They are in 2nd gear and we are busting our balls.
I agree the effort is there but the prob is one team is a top 2 team the other is a bottom 6 team.
A split second? The ump yelled no collingwood ruck about 10 times! He had plenty of time to realise he was one-out.
Its not rocket science. If given the chance, punch the ball forward. Jamie Charman made a career out of it and won a few (3?) flags as a result!
When do we play West Coast again!!!!!!!!!!!
Phantom....just our luck all their key players will probably be back by then. I wouldn't be pencilling that one in just yet.
5.13 tells a story too. No composure going forward. Given Darcy Moore a picnic just bombing it high. Lower your eyes FFS
19 scoring shots each.
Many years ago there was a comment, i think by Brettie, that summed up a game perfectly.
It was against the dogs and it involved Brian Lake. I'll paraphrase to sum up todays effort.
"As best as i can tell, our game plan is to kick it to Brian Lake Darcy Moore and hope his jumper changes colour".
The 3 leading possession getters on the ground are Docherty, Cerra and Walsh. Cripps and Acres also in the top 10.
Another observation. Our release handballs often put a team mate under pressure. Slow, looping. Collingwood move it with bullet handballs to someone on the move often in the clear..
I didn’t think contacting the ball was enough…?
I thought the intention was to stop front on contact to protect the player attempting to mark and stop “clumsy” front on spoiling attempts

Agreed Pertz...and none of Dow, O'Brien or Plowman are out there either.
Club song should be changed.
We're the team that forever lets you down.
Won't matter because we won't sing it.

Until we learn to play as a team, like the way Pies blocked for Cox, we'll stay 'mid-6'.
Pies are a well drilled side who are all on the same page at the same time.
Took 3 separate players directly to make that play work....and a few more (clearing space) for it to work so easily.
Sorry, double post !
Means nothing. Was a very comfortable win for them and they were never challenged.
Miles apart these 2 teams
Unfortunately our disposal skills turn this into a net liability.
Pies hold oppo to 70pts on average.
Says exactly where we stand in the comp.
Thats why we drafted Boyd.
We need to see much more of that!
That was my point Shawny...virtually same amount of ball, same number of scoring shots etc....but we're a mile off them.
Dow and Kemp must play next week.
George, McG look cooked. Don't know what Ed is supposed to be doing but he hasn't done it.
Is Motlop even out there?
Time to give somebody else a go, sick of bloody passengers.
Duck the MC off, they couldn't pick their nose, let alone pick a competitive side with some kind of plan.
Too slow, Poor decision makers,Lack skills
It pains me to say it but all of Newman, Pittonet,
McGovern, E Curnow, Boyd, Silvagni and Acres are VFL standard at best. Frightening that we gave away Stocker and play Silvagni instead of TDK.
Feels like we need a rebuild
Did you watch the 2's run around today Prof?
Not many worthy of a spot in the 1's.
We need to get some of those injured players fit enough to get back in the 1's.
Presser
Started poorly again
Lifted q2 and wrestled back key areas
Pleased with the effort
We've got to go to work on our connection and finishing ..... AGAIN
Kruddler No, but if you want to keep picking the same old crap trucks every week in the firsts, be my guest. Definition of insanity, as stated by smarter people than you or I; "keep doing the same thing and expect a different result"
Silvagni has escaped a lot of criticism this year, but he has been a non entity as a third forward this year. That's a major problem for us right now.
Look, i agree with you, but our options are limited is all i'm saying.
I stated my preference earlier in the week and that was to go 'smaller' and play SOS and Kennedy as our key forwards, giving McKay a rest and playing Gov as a high forward with Charlie. Trying to find a way to get more run out of players in form.
I'd be bringing Martin and Cuningham in as soon as they are fit and be drafting a similar type player with our first pick. That will make the most difference to our 'style'.
How many times is he actually targetting when we go forward.
How many times is ANYONE targetting besides Harry and Charlie when we go forward?
They said it early on...Moore was simply working out where we were going to go based on where Charlie and Harry were located.
All we did was kick it right where we were expected to go all game.
Maybe try something else for a change?
