AFL Rd 20: Carlton vs Port Adelaide
What a disaster! The 2nd quarter was so good, but the rest …
Rating: E
In some ways it is the most disappointed I’ve been all year, because we had their measure and let it slip.
Votes:
Not easy to give votes this week. Not many players deserved to be mentioned.
[3] Patrick Cripps
[3] Charlie Curnow
[3] Jacob Weitering
[1] Elijah Hollands
[1] George Hewett
[1] Sam Walsh
[1] Mitch McGovern
[0.5] Matthew Kennedy
[0.5] Nic Newman
[0.5] Brodie Kemp
[0.5] Marc Pittonet
Explanations:
[3] Patrick Cripps: Not as damaging as he can be, but he led from the front and did his best.
[3] Charlie Curnow: When your key forward has 19 possessions and 9 marks, he’s more than done his job.
[3] Jacob Weitering: Totally obliterated Dixon. Totally dominated his position.
[1] Elijah Hollands: His disposal sticks in the mind. Really good in the 2nd quarter.
[1] George Hewett: Not as flashy as some others, but solid. 8 tackles and 5 clearances.
[1] Sam Walsh: never seen Walsh caught as often, but Sam had 11 tackles and 5 clearances.
[1] Mitch McGovern: Did a good job in defence.
[0.5] Matthew Kennedy: Our 2nd best forward target.
[0.5] Nic Newman: Not as good as he can be, but he still had 8 tackles and 20 possessions.
[0.5] Brodie Kemp: Brodie’s 2nd quarter was exceptional. He really stood out with his intercept possessions. Not so good after that.
[0.5] Marc Pittonet: When he got on top, so did we. When he was down …
Honourable Mentions:
Adam Saad: Tried to make something our of nothing probably a bit too often, but he kemp his opponent down and did provide some drive.
I've left voting open much longer the usual the last couple of weeks. Please take the opportunity to vote. The more of you who vote, the better this award represents reality.
