Any guesses on the world wide viewing audience for this one? Very clever of Netflix to throw it in as a freebie!!
I'm watching it and wouldn't have been otherwise.
Probably haven't watched much (any?) boxing since Tyson was fighting back in the day save for the odd Mundine/Green fight.
Last fight was a cracker ending in a draw.
Can't say i'm as optimistic in the main bout.
Serrano vs Taylor may have even trumped the last fight in terms of action.
Not sure how that cut held together on Serrano as i thought for sure they'd stop the fight.
Surprised they didn't take more points off Taylor.
Credit to the girls.
Think the result was wrong......but its par for the course in boxing isn't it?
Thank god the last 2 fights were top notch because thats about the worst main event you could ever imagine.
Tyson looked like his legs were painted on because he couldn't use them.
Doesn't bode well for Paul's future career if he has trouble with a 58 year old on 'no' legs. ;) ::)
It wasn't fair dinkum.
Paul kept stopping his combinations whenever Tyson lost balance.
Tyson's best hit of the match was the slap the day before! :o
They asked Paul after the match if he was actually trying to knock him out and i forget exactly what he says but it was akin to 'sorta'.
He didn't want to hurt his mate.
Someone did some calculations...
Tyson supposedly got 40mil.
He threw 98 punches.
He got paid over 400k per punch thrown.
Paul could've taken him out in R1 if he tried.
Paul could've knocked him over in R3-R8 if he blew on him.
It was an officially sanctioned fight so it goes on Tyson’s record. I guess he’s more interested in his retirement income than what students of boxing may think in 20 years time.
Despite his rubbery legs and lack of stamina, there’s no way a 27 year old me would get in an oversized boxing ring with a 58 year old Mike Tyson, even if he had even more padding in his gloves.
Him and Paul are mates though.
So they would've had an agreement to not kill/hurt eachother.
Far from the loose cannon he used to be.
Paul could have knocked Tyson into next week but didn't out of respect.
Sham fights like this have destroyed boxing. People paid up to watch Tyson belt the living suitcase from that tomato can, but it was never scripted that way.
The womens bout prior was one for the ages. An old fashion slug fest.
The girl who ended up losing had her eyebrows split open for half the fight but was unfazed and continued to fight like there was no tomorrow. Both true warriors at their peak unlike the main event.
Overall a good little earner for all concerned.
Bret Hart vs Hulk Hogan would have had less scripting, looked straight out of WWE and Vince McMahon would have been proud of the acting which was at high standard compared to the boxing.
As ProfE said these sham fights do nothing for boxing except alienate fans who have paid good money to see that garbage.
Tyson needed the money and Paul wanted the PR to get some more subs......the fight should never have been authorised.
It should have been classified as an exhibition bout as it was supposed to be when Tyson originally announced it.
Agree, it was embarrassing to watch and tarnished Tysons legacy somewhat IMO. It did nothing for Paul other than publicity, it did irreparable damage the sport of boxings credibility..
