Title: Slow Horses
Post by: Gointocarlton on December 23, 2024, 07:42:18 am
If you have Apple TV, give a show called Slow Horses starring Gary Oldman a bash. Great British made spy drama.

Agree, Gary Oldman is terrific in this.

A brilliant series and Gary Oldman's character/role is superb.

The books are pretty good too.

Fantastic show. Love it and can't wait for the next season (5). Speculation has it arriving in the Northern Summer (2025).

I love the British crime/spy/police productions. This was recommended by a work colleague and I have worked my way through seasons one and two (on a weekend binge). Started season 3 today.
Another brilliant one is The Day of the Jackal with Eddie Redmayne. Finished that and Yellowstone last week so have moved onto Slow Horses.
If you want to watch a gripping Die Hard type movie, check out Carry On which is on Netflix. It stars Taron Egerton of Kingsman fame with Jason Bateman as the villain.

Thanks for the recommendations G2C.  I just clicked past Day of the Jackal assuming it was the original movie 🙄

Yellowstone is great as are the prequels.  Territory is close to an Australian version of Yellowstone and is worth watching.

Black Doves and Bad Sisters are classic British series, although the latter is apparently a clone of a Belgian series.

If you want some Christmas movies, have a go at “Nugget is Dead” and “A Sunburnt Christmas”

Loved Yellowstone and now watching Landman which is another Taylor Sheridan series. Bill Bob Thornton is the lead and only up to E3 but it has me hooked.

Just finishing Yellowstone, great show! Where are you watching Landman Shawny?

Not a fan of Yellowstone but Landman on Prime / Paramount is great. Taylor Sheridan series tend to piss me off, because he is usually writing and runs out of ideas cutting them short, often he throws in some soft porn in his shows which I find typically pointless to the story.

Slow Horses is great, some of the Lamb lines are eternal, like that S3 episode when Lamb interrupts Judd at lunch.

Black Doves was very good.

Lioness was OK as well, will it get another season or is it a typical TS cut off!

The Agency started slow but it's building nicely.

Dune Prophecy started slow but it's getting better.

S1 of The Day of the Jackal was good.

Brit stuff is great, Blue Lights, The Devil's Hour, The Responder, they do the drama suspense better, I liked The Night Manager as well.

Watched the first episode of Slow Horses last night.
Promising start...I think I'll enjoy it.

Never really got into Yellowstone. Stopped watching after a couple of episodes, but loved the prequel 1883 and looking forward to the second season of 1923.

The Agency lost me...it's a bit hard to follow between Poppa naps. :D
I'll have to re-watch an episdode or two. ;)

'Day of the Jackal' is excellent.
Redmayne is great.
Contrast between his understated persona and his sinister, ruthelss 'real' character is riveting.

For me, Yellowstone's Rip Wheeler is hands down the best TV/Movie character I have seen. Tough guy, cool looking, old school, pulls out some great one liners.

Right into Slow Horses now.
Into the third season and really enjoying it...I reckon I could get a job there.
Always wanted to be a spy. :D

Have look at American Primeval.
Not for the squeamish
Some major elements of historical fact..
You'll think twice before opening the door to the Mormons ;D
