I don't have pay TV, so I doubt I'll be seeing much of this one.
Same. I like listening to the ABC call on the internet. It’s not too bad IMO.
I believe 'super saturday' matches will be played on 7+ on delay/after the fact. Not 100% (i have kayo) but i think i read that somewhere.
Maybe lock yourself in a room until the replay is on so no spoilers?
Basic skills hurting early.
Even the Eagles can move the quickly from D50 against us
Nervous start, out blokes look scared
Poor disposal and decision making under no pressure.
Saad higher up the ground
Charlie for an elite kick is spraying them early
Good by Ollie not to go the first option,
Do you know how long it takes before the replay comes on?
McGovern can't play ever again. Given up twice on his direct player for marks inside 50. He's absolutely horrible.
Harry concussed gone
Wasting chances. Eagles have had the better of the play
We are in complete control but just have to be cleaner.
They are trying to move it fast, use the corridor and share the ball. It 70% there. I hope they keep at it.
Durdin already the best of the small forward argument.
The kids is a gun, just had rotten luck with his body.
Rubbish he was out of position again and it should have been a free for front on contact.
Easy come easy go.
Harry subbed out
Sam Walsh: 13 possessions.
George Hewett 10 possessions.
Will White 6 possessions.
Not sure.
But 7+ is showing all 4 of our previous 2025 games can be viewed currently, so maybe by the end of the game it will be up to watch?
Can't take a trick there. :(
Walsh has lifted his game this week. Much needed.
Durdin looks to be full of confidence and doing ok.
Hopefully these 2 can lift a few others around them and all of a suddent we are all 'back in form' and all this sack the coach nonsense is a distant memory.
Of course, we still have a second half to navigate through first.
Charlie Curnow: 8 possessions, 4 marks and 1 goal 2. :( He is struggling.
Any danger we can find the big ones.
Should be 7 goals up by now.
Charlie the width of the post away from goal of the year.
Footy gods not in our favour at present.
The durdin bounce before that and tackle not paid as proof.
Kemp 2nd ruck with no Harry
They've tightened up on Walsh - only 2 possessions this term.
That is bad team selection. We need to have a guy who can do that job or Tom will be gassed a long way before the end.
Granted, that they didn't expect H to be concussed, but still poor planning.
Thank you, Cooper Lord! The scoring percentage is still woeful, but that improves things.
Tom de Koning: 2 possessions.
9 possessions, 6 marks, 1 goal 3. :(
Just crapeful
George Hewett 16 possessions.
Adam Cerra: 10 possessions.
$850K per possession, thats Ronaldo money
6.10 🤦🏻
Sam Walsh, thank you. At least you're kicking for goal decently today.
In this version of "No KPP talent available at our pick" i present to you the 2023 AFL draft
Pick 29 - Carlton - Ashton Moir
Pick 30 - West Coast - Archer Reid - 203cm ruck/forward
Pick 31 - Brisbane - Logan Morris - 191cm key forward - Premiership player 2 goals in GF.
Pick 32 - Geelong - Mitchell Edwards - 206cm ruck
Pick 33 - St. Kilda - Angus Hastie - HBF
Pick 34 - Carlton - Billy Wilson - delist material
*facepalm*
I hear your pain. I wonder at times what we're actually looking for in a team.
Not alot of excitement out there.
Motlop: 3 possessions. 1 point. :(
Dominating possessions, but can't turn it into goals.
Matt Carroll has been great.
My sarcasm detector is broken when it comes to deciphering your posts.
3 votes - Sam Walsh
Sam Walsh: 3 for the quarter! 18 possessions!
Sam Walsh has recorded an equal career-high three goals, in addition to a game-high 19 disposals, 10 score involvements, four clearances and 283 metres gained.
And he has been quieter this quarter!
Nah. Reads the play well. Zones off at the right time. Tidy with good pace. Bar his last kick. He looks great
Was going to say, i thought he was going well and looks to be up to speed.
The timing on when you posted that coincided with that OOF, so wasn't sure.
George Hewett: 20 possessions, 6 marks, 4 clearances, but only 1 tackle.
Sam Walsh: 19 possessions, 3 goals, 5 marks, 4 clearances and 0 tackles!
Adam Saad: 15 possessions, 4 marks and 1 clearance.
Adam Cerra: 13 possessions, 3 clearances and 3 tackles.
Doing alright I suppose - can tell the team is still out of form. H out not helping with structure but happy for the youngsters getting their hands on the ball. But need TDK, Cripps, William, Docherty to step it up 2nd half.
First half has gone to script. Hopefully not the second.
Only 16 tackles for us in a half of football. Not good enough!
We might be winning more than our share of ball, but we're not putting enough pressure on the Weagles.
We have had over 80 more possessions than them. Hard to tackle them if they haven't got the ball.
They've only had 23 chasing tail all day.
its not a contested game. Tackle numbers are ok given how open its been. Can't tackle when the ball is in the open and you have possession of it.
I understand that, but we've got to get the tackles up for when we play someone serious.
Looking at average tackles per game this year, we are currently ranked 1st with an average of 75 per game.
I don't see that as a weakness. ;)
No, I see that as a strength, which is why I am shocked to see numbers so low.
Let me be doom and gloom.
We've played against witches hats thus far and the gulf in class has been the difference.
Wash, hewett, weitering, saad the main difference makers.
A few have joined in for the ride. Haynes, carroll, durdin playing alright. Harry had started well. Biggest shame is he'll miss next week.
This is really hard to get a read on where we at, because it's been bruise free and we've been dominant. Conceded a few way too easily.
Someone lined up mcgovern for being unaccountable before. Fact is, he had to leave his man to cover for someone else who had gone kick chasing.
It's been too bruise free to really read where we are at today.
Has anyone seen the incident when H was concussed? The guy just ran at him like a suicide!
yeah, it's fine. Incidental contact which means the west coast bloke will miss a month for attempted murder.
God only knows what the Tribunal will think. Penalties seem to depend on what the outcome is, rather than what the offence was. Not a smart way of doing things.
Making any comment on how we are going in a 2025 game at half time will always come back to bite you.
That being said, i just posted the average tackle numbers we've had this year. I don't think we need to worry about being bruise free downhill skiers. Our pressure is up there with the best of them.
In this game, you can see the same issues we've seen previously. Finishing.
Our shots on goal have been poor.
Our decision making in front of goals has been poor and cost us a few goals.
We've had a few players get tackled when if they kicked 2 steps earlier we hit the scorebaord.
We've had a couple overenthusiatic extra handballs which has cost us.
We've had set shots missing....and missing by heaps in shots that should've been gimmes.
I said earlier, that we should've been 7 goals up. That would extend to 10 goals up by now had we ironed out some of the above creases by now.
Hopefully, this game gives us the win, despite being poor finishers.
Hopefully, that gives us the confidence we need going into games from here and that confidence improves our finishing, which translates into more wins.
We are not that far away.
Commentators were saying its fine because the bloke who ran into him wasn't trying to stop him, instead was making position for a handball receive.
2 players with poor awareness running into eachother.
At this point, H (who was injured in the 1st quarter) still has more possessions that Lachie Fogarty (3 and 1 tackle) and Tom (4 with 2 tackles).
Corey Durdin: 5 possessions for 2 goals.
Cooper Lord: 5 possessions and 1 goal.
Jesse Motlop: 6 possessions for 1 point.
Poor start to the 2nd half. 1 goal 1 to them in no time. :(
Small forwards don't always get huge possessions. That's ok as long (like a couple more touched) as they are hitting the scoreboard. Durdin yes, Motlop no.
Buckle up
Weitering slow to get up
Bloody 7.13
Nice kick from McGovern
Sei Danket Gott! Lachie Fogarty!
Fogarty kicks probably the hardest shot we've had all day.....i'll take it.
Missed the 1st Q but it’s amazing what can be achieved when you pass the ball to your forwards.
Keep it up please.
Currently a 5 goal margin....albeit 4.6.
Playing below what we can do, but still doing whats required.
Our last 4 games have been wins by 10 goals or more against the eagles, we need this trend to continue today.
For a bloke who prides himself on pressure, his lack of awareness when he has the ball is embarrassing.
How did Fog f*** that up!
Charlie Curnow; his first goal after half time this year.
Who is doing the ruck work?
Why is Owies not playing?
At least the eagles can't kick straight as well.
Combined its 13.22
Matt Owies: 4 possessions and no goals. Not on the bench.
5 touches. 0 goals.
Most impressive thing he did was almost take out weitering.
OK I haven't seen him.
Thank you, Crippa!
Only 14 possessions, but 4 clearances and now, a goal.
Corey Durdin! Goal #3!
We've missed durdin when he's been injured
I don't think our small forwards have kicked 3 for the match until today. I might be wrong, but I doubt it.
How's my boy Jeff tracking Crash?
Will White has 4 scoring shots for 4 points so far. Quite bizarre, considering how good he is in the 2's.
Matt Carroll hasn't had a possession in the 3rd quarter.
Can only follow scores for this game.
Enjoying your comments Bluebaggers.
Go Blues
3/4 Time:
Sam Walsh: 28 possessions and 5 clearances, to go with his 3 goals.
George Hewett: 27 possessions, and 7 clearances.
Adam Saad: 21 possessions and 1 clearance.
Mitch McGovern: 20 Possessions and 6 marks.
Adam Cerra: 18 possessions, 3 clearances and 5 tackles.
We have the top 5 possessions getters on the ground.
Charlie Curnow: 13 possessions, 9 marks and 2 goals.
Much higher pressure rating that quarter.
As long as he does his job and doesn't get caught out of position
Brodie Kemp: 8 possessions in the 1st quarter, 1 since. :(
That is his issue, when he is good, he is very good, and when he is not, he is invisible.
OK, we've won one last quarter for this year. Can we make it two?
Matthew Cottrell hasn't had his kicking boots on this year. He is usually a good shot on goal.
Charlie Curnow! 3rd goal. Just imagine what he could do if he were fit!
About to get overturned because it brushed a pinky finger.
This is an ordinary result, instead of switching off at 1/2-time we've dropped back into neutral at 3/4-time.
We should be going hell bent to recovery some lost percentage, instead we sliding across the line C-grade style, it's very ordinary to watch and there is almost nothing we take out of this game as a sign of improvement.
Norp will be full of confidence against us next weekend.
Matt Owies kicks a goal.
Nah, i'll take the 'no more injuries' cruise home rather than going too hard and copping some more injuries.
We have stopped.
We had gained 15 percent
Corey Durdin: No #4!
Zac Williams injured again. Is he made of glass?
So have they.
Pressure level dropped to 'token' at present
Cramping.
Not the only one.
Its hot
Kemp down. Looks in big touble.
Knee? leg?
Achilies?
Kemp done an ankle
Kemp achilles
Was Curnow's goal overturned in the end? Hard to tell from looking at the stats.
Looks like achilles
Always.
But it proves my point. Is it worth it for a couple more % points if it means you lose a bloke for 8 weeks?
He was just jogging and fell over.
3 off injured.
Is that right???
They haven't updated it on afl.com.au
McKay concussion.
Williams cramp
Kemp TBC - but looks like achillies.
Pushed off to start a lead, nobody near him, fell over like he was shot. Screams achillies.
In my playing and watching experience a lot of injuries happen off the ball when blokes are going at it half-ar5ed, rarely do injuries happen in the heat of play.
And once players know you're not going hard at the footy switched on opponents take full advantage to take you out.
Sam Docherty! At last a goal!
Define 'injury'.
Plenty of corkies and other niggles will happen in a game thats full on vs half arsed.
Our blokes are falling over during the heat need to 'red-line it' and tempt fate further.
Silvagni might have to go back forward next week.
Walsh and Hewett have slowed down since half time. Still great, but not as totally dominant.
George Hewett: 34 possessions
Sam Walsh: 31 possessions.
Young might get a recall as well.
Although Pittonet might be back.
Gov goes BANG.
Mitch McGovern with a goal!
FWIW, Williams is back out there and looking ok.
100 points 💯 at long last. Albeit against no opposition
All things being equal, like conditions for both teams, we won't get an easier opponent for the rest of the season.
Next week Clarkson's crew are going to make our blokes very uncomfortable.
53 points, just under 10minutes left on the clock.
Not stopping
Also we lost Acres before the game due to 'illness'....whatever that means these days.
Gov just got done holding the ball.
Had his head slammed into the ground though.
Looking groggy.
They get a shot on goal and potentially a suspension with the same tackle.
Who is playing key forward with Charlie off and Kemp injured?
Cripps is playing deep currently.
Weitering, Haynes, Silvagni and Gov are all in defence still.
And George hits the accelerator! Up to 35 possessions!
TDK cramping now
Motlop getting time through the middle again, looking comfortable there.
Easy goal to Cripps
Goal to Cripps!
The reason our blokes are so fatigued is the horrendous ball use, even in this game with pressure effectively zero we can't hit 25m targets, it's demoralising and huge waste of energy.
White goal!!!
White finally!
Gets his 1st ever and gets us over the 10 goal margin
Will White! 5th time lucky!
It's 33 degrees.
Got Charlie off.
Cripps hiding in the goal square.
Kemp off injured.
Who takes the ruck?
Like another to make it 70pts. Would feel about right then.
Well done White, lovely finish, the finish makes him stand out.
We have had the complete McGovern experience today
Cripps delivers.
Anything else?
Crippa! 3 goals!
Bittersweet. Good to get off the mark, good to get the 4 points. Disappointed about those injuries.
Cripps is almost becoming our most reliable KPF set shot kick for goal, on top of everything else he already does.
Give it a spell FFS.
There have been about 7 blokes stretching out cramping up.
Even eagles players are struggling a bit with the heat.
Its been a free flowing game. Plenty of run. It catches up with you.
Good to see Zac back out there.
Gained 22% and moved up to 12th.
Nobody wants to sack the coach this week??
Huh.
*shrugs*
Carlton 17-19-121
WC 6 - 14- 50
71 points in the heat!
First win, 1st win of 2nd half, 1st contribution by mids and small forwards.
71pts...nice! Just how you should beat a bottom side. Finished well this time instead of dying on our @rse.
George Hewett: 39 possessions in the Cripps-like game. 8 clearances!
Sam Walsh: 38 possessions in his best game for a long time. Still appeared to tire somewhat, but he hasn't had a decent pre-season for years! 5 clearances.
Adam Cerra: 27 possessions and 8 clearances.
Adam Saad: 25 possessions and 1 clearance. he drifted out of the game after half time, but it was still a find way to celebrate a 200th game!
Mitch McGovern: 23 possessions and a goal.
We had the 6 highest possession getters on the field!
Patrick Cripps: 23 possessions and 3 goals!
Doc had 22 and Haynes had 21.
How many teams have ever been 1-4 with a % of 103.6%
I said we haven't been that bad, unlucky, but have played quality opposition (R1 excluded).
Time to back it up next week
Bad injuries again, shocker to Kemp.
OK, guys, let's head over the the post match thread. Sing the song loud and proud!
We won the game by dominating the midfield at the contest but ALSO on the outside.
Rarely do we win the outside game as well, but the eagles couldn't get near us most of the time.
