Saturday at 12:35.
Smart by Cripps, they wanna play Bedford on him, drag him to the fwd line and see how he likes it.
Good work by the cheersquad to do a minutes applause at 12:42 for Robert Walls.
Coincided with a goal by Charlie.
Boys are looking good so far, but i'm worried about our legs late
We look good then we do something stupid
McGovern arms pinned. Should be a suspension, definitely a free kick.
"Play on."
::)
3 terrible defensive efforts resulted in 3 goals.
Weitering missed mark
saads stupid tap
Mcgovern no contest
Give Gov a pass as he's probably concussed.
Weitering is allowed to f*** up every now and then, he's got enough credits in the bank.
I'd also add Walsh running too far to the list.
nothing surer then us playing a champ into form.
toby 10 touches and 2 goals and only QT.
yep some things never change
Kicking ourselves out of the game - 1.5
What rule did McGovern just break?
Do we know how to tackle ffs?
can someone let curnow know he has teamates
Coach killers (as the commentator said)
Not leading at half time. Progress.
WTF was that I50? 3 Carlton players and they all run away from it.
Pressure went up, we capitulated yet again. This team is very frustrating to watch. Dumb decisions, not making the most of opportunities, approx 3 players that tackle well.
dont get beaten by what you know…..
so what do we do
Selfish too, Curnow not looking for team mates in better positions, Ollie over looked 2 or 3 times on his own gut running through the middle.
Fwd craft-less can be hard to watch
The young guys are hard workers, Ollie doesn’t stop.
Frustrating with the usuals McG, Charlie, Walsh. Saad not playing great. Commentators say
mcG had ‘a great first half’ - Really? Don’t think Young has done much.
Honestly White, Lord, Carroll have been more composed than their experienced teammates.
Killing us with quick, accurate hand balls.
Don’t feel TDK has done much either.
Let them loose with the link up handballing way too easily.
See more system in local under 14s. Either the coaches have no clue or the players are uncoachable.
one or the other.
What does it say when your most reliable defender at the moment is playing his first game??
Still got no idea why we picked him today.
He has had it twice in over a half of footy, the lowest on the ground.
What are we using him for? Giving ourselves a challenge by playing 17??
Acres hurt his shoulder again with an arm tackle.
Did Motlop play to present the gift at the start of the game?
We had kicked 2.7 from the 20minute mark of the 1st, basically an hour of footy.
Curnow makes that 3 goals now.
We have missed a fit and firing Doch this season. Smart player.
WTF was that play! FFS - Cripps decides to kick backwards Geezus Christ this team is so fking hard to watch!
What a debacle that passage of play was, but lets just call for the coaches head as that will solve that utter crap.
That last passage of play epitomises our problems. Slow, switch of play, indecisive bad decisions...goal to Giants
I called it, I said to my daughter watch us turn it over here and we did.
Honestly I’m about to turn off.
We do so well then do something utterly utterly stupid to turn it over and they just run away with it with the bare minimum of defence.
Time to get some run on the ground.
Get Young off.
Get Binns on.
Game over
another season in the bin
We've played poorly for 2 quarters.
We are still less than 3 goals away from the lead.
It could turn and turn quickly.
Far from game over
Motlop with a timely goal, makes it 8 points.
Big last quarter coming up.
And with 19 seconds to go, We allow them to goal.
I mean honestly I just shake my head.
19 sec on the clock, I turn to my daughter and say watch the GWS clearance and goal. Bang!
Seen this movie before
Season on the line here.
I wish I felt this, but it’s not the team that it was a few years ago.
Good to get some game time into the younger guys who look hungry.
We're not able to hold onto, or use it effectively either end. Bounces out of d50 resulting in great link up goals.
We kick points not goals. Then fail to lock it in. Rinse. Repeat.
Now we need 3 unanswered goals in q4. Q4 being yet another weakness.
Despite more i50, more free kicks....
I can't comprehend "we've gone to work on that" The game shows we haven't.
Go Blues
Our tackling is so crap, I would
Love to know how many times GWS players are easily able To just spin out of them.
This was a 50-50 game, with giants slight favourites.
Its turned out to be exactly that at this point.
If we lose, we lose and according to the odds, we should.
However, odds are just odds and we can influence the result. We only need to lift 5% and thats enough to make the difference.
Oh Lord, 2 weeks in a row!
Binns in for Acres.
Doesn't give us more run, but i know Acres hurt his shoulder again, so as good as we could hope for.
May the youngest most inexperienced stand up.... thank the Lord
Game over
what if they lift 5%. may be time to take the blue glasses off. surely you can only stay optimistic for so long.
Harry Charlie Young/Gov- 3 goals btw them
Motlop Durdin White Fog - 3 4goals between them
just said GWS has lost 5 of their last 6 at marvel.
Wasn't it you who posted our silly mistakes before.
We are keeping them in front. If we stop that, it can turn easily.
It seems every 50-50 call is going against us at the moment though.
The Lord mark, and Walsh high tackle that both weren't paid.
Then the weitering head high that was.
Cerra gets it back to less than 3 goals
Nothing's changed since R1. Another year of disappointment. Sympathy to Blues fans
Make it less than 2 goals
5% lift....and we are away.....
We're officially the team that anyone can beat. Even kids playing their 1st game in the system in a patched together list 😮💨
and just like that its out of reach again.
master at false hope
Motlop in the guts.....finally. Bit bloody late though.
He gets ridden into the ground, but no free kick.
TDK is not capable of solo rucking against heavy bodies for 4-qtrs, until we give up on that tactic we'll continue to be run over. Maybe he is leaving so we are happy to run him into the ground, but we are harming our own chances in the process.
TDK's go is run, run-down tackles, linking and pushing into F50 as a marking option.
Instead we are letting opposition take the run out of his legs, we've taking a racehorse and turned him into a bulldozer, and it hurts right where we should be dominant.
Today we are playing GWS, they have Kieran Briggs who cannot possible run with TDK, Briggs is not in the same class of aerobic capacity, agility or pace, yet we have TDK basically wrestling with him one on one.
Our tactics are mind numbingly stupid.
Yeah we are a dumb footy club tbh
And I reckon TDK mind is made up. He’s just cruising last month or so.
Heartless. Clueless. From one end to the other of CFC.
i agree. he looks like he has checked out.
then again most of list looks like that
With the side we have, we are essentially playing 2 rucks....just not doing enough rucking from others.
What is youngs role in the side today?
He is a waste of space.
He is a waste of rotation.
He has offered us nothing.
Was he backup ruck? How many contests has he been in? I've seen McKay and Cripps take plenty
We have Weitering and OFarrell as key backs.
We have Harry and Charlie as key forwards
We have Haynes and McGovern as 3rd talls.
What is Young??
TDK hasn't and doesn't need to ruck 'solo' for 4-quarters. He's had help. He isn't the issue.
Playing 'passengers' like Young is the issue.
0 tackles, 0 hitouts 7 touches
I agree with this - I think he’s gone and they know it. I wonder if that is the cause of malaise in this team? Sure the club is bigger than the individual but surely it has an impact.
we have much bigger problems then a back up utility.
Concepts that imply sacrificing a strength to bolster a weakness are flawed, AFL is a sport that rewards those who win the football, if you can't win the football you won't win the game.
Using it well only comes about after you win it, and you have to win it with sufficient efficiency that allows you to reliably make use of it.
We win plenty, but often it's a pressured last gasp victory and we're unable to use it, we've no run, no awareness, no vision, no time and no space, we are fatigued and panicked and turn it over.
Yep, its the MC that pick players we don't need, don't use and offer us nothing.
I said last week that we went in 1 too tall and looked for lightning to strike twice (like against st. kilda) and the crows thumped us.
So what did we learn? Nothing.
If the season is as shot as you suggest. What have we got to learn by playing Young? Take him out and bring in Lucas Camporeale or some other kid who can benefit from the game and give us run.
We can win the ball. 1 ruck or 2.....or zero.
We can't use the ball well enough.
We tire late in games because we don't have enough rotations through the middle.
Strengthening our ability to win the ball by adding a 2nd standalone ruck will strengthen our ability....initially.
It does nothing to strengthen our ability to win the ball at the end of the game, rather it hinders it, because we are expected too much from too few. It appears if you stop cripps you stop carlton. Why not give him extra help in the form of midfielders so he can go harder for longer.
....the same concept you are applying to TDK can be applied to our midfield
Much of our current winning the footy comes as a turnover, but often after an earlier mistake, on the HBF, on the HFF, in the centre, in transition, it's not just about stoppages either in the midfield or around the ground.
We fight and fight to win the footy, often do win it, but rarely use it efficiently, too many of those wins have come at the end of a earlier chain of mistakes, we have spent all our energy fighting to win it back from an earlier mistake. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, until we have no physical fight left and the opposition score relatively freely.
We batter ourselves against a brick wall, taking many swings and missing, like one of Mohammad Ali's opponents we punch ourselves stupid without landing a blow!
We are compounding the mistakes, it's a stupidity.
We also have a rather largish squad, yet we are easy to play against, we watch our medium smalls get squashed under opposition, we scream about it! Yet, we rarely hurt opposition medium or smalls. Week after week we see Motlop, Fogarty, Hollands, Durdin, dumped in crushing tackles. When did you last see McGovern, Cripps, Weitering, McKay, Charlie, TDK, Young, etc., etc., squash an opposition medium / small? Today Cerra probably was the only player to issue a crushing tackle, a tackle that cause some physical duress.
We are more likely to be bemoaning one of our KPPs being smashed than ever see them crunch and opposition midget, the midgets play against us with impunity! We might well be tiring to play against, but we aren't hard or uncomfortable to play against despite being obviously large!
Weitering had the chance to absolutely destroy jesse Hogan on the wing and didn't put his body through him in the marking contest.
These are fundamentals. You get the chance to crunch your opponent fairly and don't take it. Then when he sticks a knife in with his accuracy you mope? Nup. Be more ruthless than that.
