Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.
AFL Rd 13: Carlton vs the Drug Cheats
We were ordinary in patches, but we got up off the carpet and should have won by more. 5 of the last 6 shots at goal and we didn’t make any of them.
Still, we beat a team above us on the ladder when our form wasn’t great.
Team: B
Votes:
[2] Sam Walsh
[2] Tom de Koning
[2] Jack Silvagni
[1.5] Blake Acres
[1] George Hewett
[1] Adam Cerra
[1] Adam Saad
[1] Zac Williams
[1] Jesse Motlop
[1] Ollie Hollands
[0.5] Sam Docherty
[0.5] Cooper Lord
[0.5] Nick Haynes
Explanations:
[2] Sam Walsh: Not his best game, by a long way, but 32 disposals and 7 clearances was good.
[2] Tom de Koning: Beat Goldstein and gave us first use of the ball. Unfortunately, he tries to do too much sometimes and messes up his good work. 23 disposals, 29 taps and 7 clearances.
[2] Jack Silvagni: Brilliant in defence. Slaughtered his opponent, took intercept marks and made things happen. Not his best; he was more fumbly than usual, but he was the key to our defence.
[1.5] Blake Acres: His best game for the year by some margin. His last quarter goal was special. 29 disposals and 4 clearances.
[1] George Hewett: Not his best game for the year, but he was important. His kicking was off, but he got it 29 times and had 9 tackles.
[1] Adam Cerra: Like Hewett, not at his best, but still an important contributor, especially considering he was flattened by that Essendon thug.
[1] Adam Saad: Started well and did a job on his opponent, but his drive dried up as the game went on.
[1] Zac Williams: An important player for our front half, as he hits targets and (generally) makes good decisions. 15 disposals and 2 goals was a decent night.
[1] Jesse Motlop: One of Motlop’s better game, including the best 2 marks he has ever taken, both of them crucial. Bad miss in the last which should have iced the game, but much improved on his recent efforts.
[1] Ollie Hollands: Ollie does one thing not all of our guys do; he keeps running. He probably deserved more votes, and would have got them if his kicking was as good as his run and carry.
[0.5] Sam Docherty: 26 disposals says quite a bit. He was a bit spasmodic, and he’s lost his pace badly, but he held up his end very well.
[0.5] Cooper Lord: Another solid effort.
[0.5] Nick Haynes: Another solid effort, with some really nice intercept marks.
Honourable Mentions:
Hudson O’Keefe: Took some clutch marks and looked good. His ruck work wasn’t so good; Essendon got a run on when he was in the centre square, but a very promising beginning.
Alex Cincotta: Not even close to his best form, and very fumbly, but he took Merrett right out of the game.
Patrick Cripps: Deserves a mention, even if he was quiet by his standards.
