This game is at 14:05 at Cramer St, which hasn't been a happy hunting ground. Preston usually lift for this one, but they are on the bottom without a win.
Hopefully, we will want to win badly enough to make it the sort of contest the ladder places suggest it should.

At least 2 changes to this team, as Binns is replacing Walsh and at least one of the Emergencies will travel to Perth. :(
Probably, one of Harvey or Riley will play as back-up ruckman.
Again, missing Will Hayes, who probably has horse racing duties.

Not many guys from the old alignment days remain for Preston. Jean-Luc Velissarius would be about it.
Interested in seeing how Nash King goes. He's an inside mid with a bit of speed.
Started well with goals to Flynn Young and Lemmey
Is the Hogg the son of premiership player Matthew?
Just kicked a really classy goal with his first kick.
The wind grabbed that wickedly.
Was impressed by hoggs second efforts early. Seems to sum up situations well and has some nous. Looks a bit small. For those that watch this level a bit is he any good?
I've only seen him a couple of times, he seems to do a few good things at times but also seems to be listed as emergency or on the bench quite often, suggests to me he not really hitting his kpi but i know nothing.
Darcy Hogg is something of a late developer. His size doesn't help, as he is small and slight, not quite as quick as his father was. But he is improving. Last year he struggled to get a game in a weaker, less successful team. This year he has often displaced Archie Stevens as our 2nd mid. He still needs to work on his game, but he is definitely improving.
One thing he does still do is go missing sometimes for a quarter. I don't know how he'd handle a close checker, as he isn't that strong.
Billy Wilson getting a fair bit of the pill: 10 possessions so far.
Billy Wilson is having a good game. (10 disposals so far)
Carlton 4 - 2 - 26
Preston 1 - 4 - 10
Wilson leads all comers with 10 possessions.
Darcy Hogg has 8.
Jordan Boyd & Ethan Phillips have 7 each.
Marc Pittonet: 5 possessions, 12 taps and 4 clearances.
We are very light-on for experience today. Pitto is the only old head we have out there. Ethan Phillips and Luke Nelson would be next.
Then again, Preston are not a lot more experienced. Take Velissarius out, and what experience do they have?
Great minds think alike :D
Ben Camporeale has been a bit quieter than usual
Jorgensen is a name that has been around for a while. Remember hearing about him a few years back.
Dane Harvey is interesting; a very athletic tall who looks really good, but doesn't get enough of the ball. Nice to have him kick a goal.
Three quick goals either side of 1/4 time. Nice.
Pittonet did really well from the ruck and then the followup which resulted in a goal.
Pitto has 5 score involvements so far
How are the bullants travelling these days? Are they still an easy kill?
He is dominating the ruck statistically: 8 possessions, 16 taps and 6 clearances.
More so this year than they often have been. They haven't been able to replace a lot of the guys who had promise; they've moved on to other 'better' programs.
Now 3 straight points. :(
The umpires are being very nice to us...
Can we get them at senior level. :D
Billy Wilson hasn't touched it for almost 15 minutes.
Lucas Camporeale has had a strong quarter so far. Up to 9 possessions.
Ben quiet: hasn't had a clearance yet.
We'll probably get murdered tonight by the Umps. :(
Preston haven't kicked a goal in over 30 minutes, even with Jan-Luc Velissarius playing so well. The guy is much more complete player than he was back in the day.
Patrick Dozzi having a good day: 9 possessions and 4 clearances.
We've kicked 3 goals 7 this quarter. Wind? Quite possibly. We've never dealt with the wind there all that well.
I've seen charleson lace out a few passes and not without some pressure. He looks alright. Wilson seems to have some wheels.
Evans has looked good which means take minimal away from this one.
Charleson shows something. He's some way off yet, but he is showing promise.
Billy Wilson must be in contention if we get more injuries.
Should be 100 points ahead.
They're very poor. ::)
Preston are at a low ebb at the moment, but you can only play against your opponents on the day. In recent years they've troubled us.
Wouldnt be judging any of our players today, the opposition is miserable and thats being generous...
Wilson's playing mostly half back.
The ball didn't get down there much that quarter
Half Time:
Carlton 9 - 9 - 63
Preston 1 - 4 - 10
They didn't score that quarter, which says something, as we aren't that good. However, you can only play who walks out onto the field. God knows Southport found us easy to play against for a half!
Billy Wilson: 14 possessions, 1 tackle.
Jordan Boyd: 14 possessions, 3 tackles.
Harry Charleson: 12 possessions, 6 marks; his best half so far.
Patrick Dozzi: 11 possessions, 5 clearances.
Both of the Camporeale boys now have 9 each.
Interesting to have 3 of our smaller defenders having the most possessions.
Mids seem to be sharing it around a bit, each one having good periods and then quiet ones.
Inside 50's: 29 to 16.
Tackles: 26 to 22: I'd like us to do more here, but I do understand that we're dominating the game.
Marks: 55 to 65: I'd like us to do better here as well.
Clearances: 24 to 13: Pitto has 6!
We've gone to sleep
We lead 77-29 at three quarter time
They missed some chances and kicked 2-7
So our seconds suffer from second half fadeouts too?
The Campos are not deputies to our senior midfield yet based on what im watching.
Lemmey doing well at taking contested marks.
In a follow up to what i asked you the other day....
Who ARE our deputies?
IMO, i think its a position of biggest need at the moment, along with genuine mid/HBF and mid/hff options.
3 goals to Frank the Tank.
10 goals up now.
Lucky they couldn't kick straight in the 3rd quarter.
Definitely kicking with the breeze in Q2 & 4.
Two goals to Stirling Phipps-Parsons.
28 possessions to Jordan Boyd.
Evans 15 possessions and 3 goals.
Wilson is probably close to earning a game, and they seem to be working on him as a HBF
I'd like to see him given a try.
A word of caution though, while he has 25 possessions half way through the last (and Boyd has 28) a lot of those are passes between the two of them.
Pitto: 17 possessions, 3 tackles, 37 taps, and 10 clearances.
Ben Camporeale up to 20.
Flynn Young: 9 possessions. :( And then he kicks a goal.
A quiet few minutes. Both sides probably want the siren to go.
Can you be a beautiful mover on the football field and still have little impact-Ashton Moir.
Goal to Young...Just about home now :D :D
if i had to pick any players to elevate based on today, pittonet, Evans and Darcy Hogg have been amongst the better players.
Might explain why fantasia is getting a game.
That's not to say others aren't going to be good enough, but they aren't going to be setting the afl alight this year.
I am going to enjoy watching this when I get back from hospital.
Lemmey a couple in junk time. Still, 4 goals are 4 goals.
Watching Lemmey makes me think we might be able to cover a tall trade. I'd like some afl level data for that choice though. He hasn't really had an opponent today.
Billy Wilson can't be that far away, especially given our need for speed.
I went to sleep while I was watching the broadcast - not much of a game and the droning commentary didn't help.
Carlton : 18 - 14 - 122
Preston: 4 - 12 - 36
86 points will probably be our biggest for the year.
Jordan Boyd: 30 possessions, 9 marks & 3 tackles.
Billy Wilson: 27 possessions, 10 marks, 3 tackles.
Ben Camporeale: 24 possessions, 4 tackles, 1 clearance - not his biggest day.
Marc Pittonet: 20 possessions, 3 tackles, 41 taps and 10 clearances.
Boyd
Wilson
Pittonet
Lemmey
Ben Camporeale (20 possessions in the last three quarters)
even Frankie Evans
Then you look at the opposition and.... ::) ::)
(We do need to see both Wilson and Lemmey for a couple of games at senior level before the end of the year)
Hogg was probably my best player, Lemmey did what he had to do vs undersized opposition and reminds me of Robert Dutton who was a blonde key position forward who did well in the reserves but was always overlooked for senior footy and only played one game from memory.
Wilson carries the ball ok and is a decent kick but Id be concerned about his contesting ability but you never know until you try players. Flynn Young kicked a couple of goals but also shanked a few kicks and doesnt do much in the defensive aspects of the game which might hold him back at senior level. He is purely a finisher and probably has to be a bit selfish and look to kick more goals to stand out. Evans shaded him today with three goals and is more active when he doesnt have the ball but again the opposition was minimal so I wouldnt be rushing to put Evans back in the senior team either.
Lucas Campo was hardly sighted and Ben had a few moments but didnt have a great game overall imo and his kicking is a real issue as he butchers a lot of kicks going forward. He played well last week and deserved a senior callup imo but todays effort wont be getting him any senior game time.
Pittonet won the ruck duels easily but didnt feature around the ground much and is playing that backup ruck role well but you wouldnt be picking him to share the ruck duties with TDK anytime soon.
All the best for your hospital visit...
Moir was one who I was really hoping (and somewhat expecting) to really step up this year. I was thinking maybe 10 games for the year. Not looking too promising at this stage.
A lot of Boyd's are kick ins ... but he still played a pretty good game!
Certainly can't complain about that. Well played lads. More of the same please.
Seniors to back up please.
I do wish it was against someone other than our old friends the Bullants.
They are...
Something similar was happening when Docherty was playing VFL to what happened today with Wilson and there was a fair bit of short passing between him and Boyd.
The contested possessions show this Boyd 5, Wilson 3
Nothing wrong with it.
Makes sense to share it around rather than just blast it out.
It just needs to be considered.
I'm just wondering the best use of Wilson, and areas where he may be found out when he gets a senior chance. At the contest is probably one.
Given we dont have a key forward, Lemmey will play next week.
I hope we are not that desperate - I would prefer Lewis Young.
Thanks. I've got a cracked rib. :(
Ouch! Had one myself a few months
ago, bl00dy painful. All the best for a quick recovery Crash.
Hope you are back at home Crash and recovering well.
Ouch! That ain't no laughing matter, literally. Speedy recovery
The options are bring Pittonet in to play on Xerri and then have TDK play as a key forward and I presume McGovern would play the other Key Forward position.
The other alternative is give Lemmey his first game, Id expect as RR suggested that Young will probably play anyway and Id see that more as insurance for either end of the ground. Weitering has been a bit off form in recent weeks, Jack was also off injured at one stage too and with Okeefe injured, Harry unlikely and Charlie a risk if he played we need some options as I think Nth will provide a lot more fight than WC did. Its a bit of a dilemma or should that be a Delemmey of a situation....
Im forecasting Pittonet comes back in.
He played well enough to earn a call up and with okeefe going out a ruck sized player should come in. I'd personally prefer lemmey. Thing is if he cant cut it against North then who else can we play him against?
Pittonet is a known quantity. We know what he's got and of TDK walks end of year he's first ruck off the rank.
Lemmey has done enough over the last month to earn his call up. I'm happy to play he and McGovern up forward id Charlie isn't fit. I'd look at the speed of Billy Wilson too. He has played some good footy.
Yes, he has really taken a step up the last month. Taking alot of marks and kicking a few too.
I think it will be Pittonet.
Voss mentioned the second-ruck at the end of his press conference.
It could be Young but Pittonet would seem a better option given the oppostition.
Doesn't mean Lemmey wont get a run also.
Oh i forgot about young. I reckon lemmey only plays if Charlie doesn't.
Play Pittonet AND Lemmey.
HOK is an obvious out.
Charlie doesn't know how bad he hurt his calf as its the first soft tissue he's done. So could be right to play, could be out for 4.
So.....rest him.
Like for like.
Good time to bring in Pittonet to take on the monster Xerri.
