Assuming Curnow is out, I’d probably go with debuts for Lemmey & Ben Camporeale. Acres/Docherty survive as there is nobody else, but I do want to see the back of Fantasia. Side looks weak but the best we can muster. Fogarty stiff and could replace Motlop.

Moir hasn't done enough for a game based on what ive seen.
I wouldn't be dropping acres. Sends the wrong message and he busts a gut. He's also more versatile than most and is more likely to build into it and play at a level beyond most of our list.
We dont take our next opponent seriously and we'll pay for it.
Pittonet comes in for o'keefe as tdk will need the help dealing with Xerri.
Lewis young probably comes in by default if curnow doesn't come up. At least we can swing him forward and back, but id prefer lemmey came in, but not ahead of pittonet.
Hopefully just the one change, Francis Evans was one of our better players on the weekend and would be ahead of moir on form.
I will dead set vomit if Evans ever plays a senior game for us again.
I agree but you cant complain that players dont get dropped and needing to set standards and then bring in players undeserving of a game.
If i could choose any small player from the vfl on last week's form Darcy Hogg would be my first choice.
Agree but I reckon Moir needs a crack for two reasons. I think he has some X factor that not many on list have. I think he might blossom if he had an extended crack in the 1s. Given our injury woes and the season almost done and dusted, why not expose the kid to senior footy.
We need to get him on the list first.
And that's not out of the question if he keeps developing.
He's been pretty solid.
15 disposals, 3 goals, 6 score involvements....keep a bucket handy ;) :D
Yes, Moir has to earn a game. He was pretty good two weeks ago but reverted to a cameo role on Sunday.
Acres is down on form but is still in our better players and way ahead of any the blokes who played in the VFL last week. The only way he’ll miss is if he’d benefit from a week off.
Replacing McKay with a ruck/KPF worked … until Skull did his hammy. Skull’s replacement has to depend on whether Charlie is OK, and I think he will be. Then there’s the Xerri - De Koning contest. Xerri got the numbers last time but he had little influence and we smashed North in clearances. I don’t think that we need to bring in Pitto to counter Xerri.
If Charlie plays, then Young or Lemmey comes in for Skull. I’d go with Lemmey, simply because I think it would be a good opportunity to see how he goes at AFL level, and he’s spent a couple of years training with Charlie and knows the running patterns. His recent VFL form has been very good.
If Charlie doesn’t get up, we’re faced with the dilemma of going with a combination of a first game KPF/ruck with a ruckman trying to be a KPF or a KPD trying to be a KPF. Alternatively, we could go with McGovern as an undersized KPF but he’s much better value as a third tall.
Frank the Tank’s VFL form has been good, but not good enough to displace any of our small forwards.
Not AFL standard don't care what he does in the 2s (where he belongs). Never want to see him in the ones ever again.
At his size he doesn't seem to hold a trick that will hep him compete at AFL, at AFL level he's slower than most direct opponents who are also bigger and stronger than him and so he struggles to make the same amount of space.
I have no problems at all with his willingness to enter the contest, but is there anything Evans can offer in the long term that bigger heavier faster bodies like EH, Cincotta or Cottrell can't?
I don't care about his VFL stats , he's not at AFL standard.
I'm with GIC.
The Roos are a Big danger IMO.
We need to endorse ensure we have enough pace in the team to go with them.
Id be playing Lemmey and letting TDK can stay onball and ruck most of the day, when he has played as a tall forward it has never really worked and I want his ability as a midfielder to help us get on top in the clearances.
Cincotta for LDU and I dont want anyone who plays loose down back picking up Curtis. Id treat him as a 3rd tall forward rather than a small forward and prefer a taller stronger player on him rather than say Saad who has struggled with Keays who is a similar type. Id want to free Saad up and let him run and not have to worry about minding someone extra dangerous like Curtis.
Blues by 19 points....TDK, Cripps and Hewett to do their thing and I wouldnt be surprised to see Jack spend some time forward in this game...
Curtis is a difficult match up for us and he has the ability to punish any momentary lapse in the defence. Cincotta would be my preferred option but he’ll be required elsewhere.
I'm not saying pick him.
What I'm saying is don't be surprised if he gets named when the team is announced. ;)
Assuming he is fit, in the absence of Harry and possibly Charlie, the correct opponent for Xerri is Pitto.
Pitto is as aggressive, mobile and as strong as Xerri.
Xerri can't go with TDK around the ground, and neither can the Norp 2nd ruck, when they actually attempt one it's Darling or Larkey which hurts them in F50.
I'd use Pitto in the centre and dropping behind play, and TDK around the ground and pushing into F50, let the mobile but lightly built Norp Mids deal with Cripps and TDK at ground level. This is basically how Freo eventually got the better of Norp. Freo let Sheezel and McDonald off the leash, or at least Freo wasn't able to curtail the pair, which kept Norp in the game off the back of Xerri dominating Darcy and Jackson at stoppages.
Xerri's tactic will again be to the stiff arm combined with some heavy pounding of TDK just like he did last time we played, although we were able to stop Shezeel and others having an influence.
I think Larkey will be even angier this time around, on top of his usual anger management issues. I also find having a few bigger bodies around tends to keep Zurhaar a lot quieter.
Moir didn't really show much in the VFL before he was previously gifted a couple of AFL games - maybe he is going to provide cameo performances at whichever level he plays.
I don't think Acres is down on form; I suspect he is carrying an injury. Whatever the case, he provides a better competitive option than any of the guys going around in the VFL - apart from his weekly turnovers, which seem to be common to many of his teammates.
Pittonet to carry a share of the load against Xerri and Lewis Young ahead of Lemmey, please.
That after our 57 pt half time lead?....lol.
I'm thinking Charlie will be fit. He'd better be if her plays, not chuck him in and rip it properly like we did with others last year.
We normally advertise our debutants early in the week. Seeing we haven't this week tells me Young is coming in.
Officially one change.
Pitto in, O'Keefe out.
As long as we don't make Pitto the sub.
Lemmey and Evans not named in the emergencies is a bit of a surprise.
Looks like Young will come in if charlie doesn't get up as he IS named as an emergency
yeah given o Farrell is named emergency (he took lots of intercept marks last week, and generally played well in the vfl from what i saw) plan B appears to be swing jsos forward and play O'Farrell back.
Our line-up:
B: 26 Nick Haynes 23 Jacob Weitering 39 Alex Cincotta
HB: 4 Oliver Hollands 1 Jack Silvagni 42 Adam Saad
C: 15 Sam Docherty 9 Patrick Cripps 13 Blake Acres
HF: 36 Cooper Lord 11 Mitch McGovern 29 George Hewett
F: 25 Jaxon Binns 30 Charlie Curnow 8 Lachie Fogarty
R: 12 Tom De Koning 5 Adam Cerra 6 Zac Williams
Int: 32 Matthew Carroll 19 Corey Durdin 3 Jesse Motlop 27 Marc Pittonet 14 Orazio Fantasia
EM: 22 Harry O'Farrell 38 Will White 33 Lewis Young
Pitto can't be the sub, or we're seriously stuffed.
Interesting to see who plays as small forward; we've named a lot of guys who can fill that role to have Binns named there.
It just means binns won't be the sub. Sub will come from our bench. I doubt it will be pittonet. I reckon it'll be durdin, motlop or fantasia as sub.
HTF are north $4
Everyone predicting a North win are not putting money on them.
North are going in quite tall. Particularly in defense.
Wonder if they are going to screw themselves in a way we normally do.
I dont necessarily like the Haynes match up with Zurhaar, but I suppose we could swap him with JSOS and have Haynes match up with Darling instead. Larkey is Weitering's cryptonite normally so we have a bit of flexibility for match ups down back.
Looking at the lineups, Im not confident they are putting out a side that can beat us. The problem is we have become pretty good at beating ourselves, and any club who takes us seriously could challenge us.
Heard Vossy on SEN this morning.
Said Charlie definitely playing, for what it's worth.
I'll believe it when I see him run out (in between making salamis with the family)
Weitering has done better on Larkey in recent outings, I dont think the arrival of Darling has helped Larkey and maybe taken some of his supply away. Curtis, Zurhaar, and Luke Parker are players who I think might cause us more problems down forward as I think Weitering and Jack can cover their talls well enough but we often struggle finding matchups for those small to medium types who can take a mark as well as cover the ground well.
Nth have a few spuds down back and I dont expect to have any problems scoring as long as our mids dominate which I think they will and this is a game where we need to win well and get some 4 quarter action going rather than play a half and then fall asleep because thats not going to work against the tougher teams we have coming up in the draw.
I wouldn't be surprised if Larkey cries like a baby again ... not that there's anything wrong with that :)
As we discussed earlier, Curtis is their main forward threat and one we struggle to match up on. I hope Sammy Hamill has Plan A and Plan B for him.
Our last game against North was a convincing four quarter effort and, even if we're missing some important players, I'm expecting a similar effort.
Mmm... Home made salami... Mmmm... Drool...
I would play Cincotta on Curtis but I suspect that his assignment will be Davies-Uniacke.
Zurhaar's best footy is behind him and he hardly got a touch last time we played North. He's averaging just under two goals a game this season though and does need attention.
Agree with DJ....Id have Cincotta on Curtis but I think the plan will be cut off the supply and that would be LDU being the most prominent of the Nth mids. Im not a fan of the Pittonet selection, when TDK is not rucking we tend to lose momentum and I cant see Pittonet being picked to play 5 mins a quarter as relief ruck, we need TDK as that defacto midfielder exploiting a meathead like Xerri for as long as possible imo.
Last season - or was it the season before? - we went with both Pitto and De Koning on the ball with the latter basically playing as a genuine "big-bodied" midfielder. I wouldn't mind seeing that again, with Crippa going forward.
As you say, we can't afford to have De Koning not rucking for long periods and we can't afford to have Pitto sitting on the pine for long periods.
It will be interesting to see how we manage our ruckmen and how our forward line is structured :-\
Yep, makes more sense. I fell for the old Cinc named in the back pocket therefore that's where he'll play... Doh!
Lucky Cincotta is not making salami as well this weekend !
I’m sure that G2C would happily pass on some of his family’s salami if Cincotta helps get the job done tomorrow 🙂
Five changes from the team that smashed North in Round 6; Cincotta, Pittonet, Fantasia, Docherty and Binns come in for E Hollands, Young, Cottrell, White and Walsh. Apart from Walsh, I'm not sure that those changes make us weaker or stronger. I guess the answer lies in how we use Pittonet and De Koning.
I feel we are about the same as before, ideally it would be nice to have BigH as the relief ruck, to keep Xerri moving and make him even more uncomfortable against two fast opponents. But Pitto is nice and hard at the contest so let's hope he can tire Xerri out wrestling.
Between the two of them they should be able to wear Xerri down?
Xerri won the hitouts last time but we dominated the clearances. Pitto and the King combined might win the hitouts but will they reduce our ability to win clearances?
We’ll find out shortly 🤞
