Title: AFLW 2025 Rd 10: Carlton vs St. Kilda
Post by: crashlander on October 17, 2025, 04:43:21 pm
We play St. Kilda at Carlton on Saturday night, at 19:15. We might be on TV.

Still without Mimi Hill and Tara Bohanna, both of whom we missed badly last week. However, we get Maddie Torpey back and Maddy Guerin.
We dropped Mia Austin, who must now be wondering about her future.

Our line-up:
D:   1 Amelia Velardo   49 Madeline Hendrie
HB:   36 Ciara Fitzgerald   21 Harriet Cordner   4 Keeley Skepper
C:   11 Yasmin Duursma   25 Keeley Sherar   17 Dayna Finn
HF:   20 Lily Goss  7 Poppy Scholz   19 Erone Fitzpatrick
F:   16 Breann Harrington   55 Sophie McKay
R:   12 Jessica Good   5 Abbie McKay   24 Brooke Vickers
Int:   6 Gabriella Pound   3 Darcy Vescio   23 Lila Keck   18 Madeleine Guerin   37 Maddison Torpey

Em:   33 Lou-Lou Field   31 Maria Cannon   22 Mia Austin

There are a few ex-Carlton girls playing for St. Kilda. I hope our girls can remind them that life is better wearing Navy Blue!

1st goal to Poppy Scholz. Sei danket Gott!

Darcy has 5 possessions so far. Definitely better than last week.

Missing targets and fumbling too much.
We might be better served by slowing down a little and picking better targets.

Not playing smart or using it well. Not kicking to our advantage at all. Can't believe we handballed straight to that St.Kilda girl in the goalsquare.

Anyway, we got a goal and just 2pts behind.

How many times can one side intercept.

Seriously! Our girls are as girls are as dumb as dog poo.

Should have got a goal but dropped a simple mark then they go up and get one from a dumb error from our defender. They've kicked 3 goals, 2 from charity donations from our defenders.

The defence has got out of jail reasonably well, apart from the dropped marks and handballs to the aints they’ve stood up.
Lot of work to be done now.

Free kick count is a bit uneven 🙄

A 3rd St.Kilda goal charity from another of our utterly dumb errors. We have literally gifted them goals.

That's a dreadful free kick. How was she supposed to get rid of it.

I hate losing to the Rabble of Linton Street. :( But, we seem to have lost the plot lately.
We are missing Bohanna and Hill, no doubt, but it is the little things that have made a difference. The decision making, the fumbling, the poor disposal.
We may miss the finals unless we can clean up our act.

We did all the hard work but couldn’t capitalise.  St Kilda made the most of their chances … and dubious frees.

Persevering with a hobbling Abby McKay didn’t help.

If only we could have cloned Darcy Vescio 🤔

Frustrating game to watch as we had the ball so much but couldn’t capitalise. Unfortunately the umpires saw every 50/50 and gave it their way. They also take way too long to blow the bloody whistle when it’s being wrestled over.

Some Disappointing costly errors and only a few shining lights this week.

We have rucklotto in the AFL and ballotto in the AFLW.  Some players are given an age to dispose of the pill, others are pinged immediately.

I felt that the ball bobbled around at a similar level to our early season but this week we didn’t get a clean hand on it.

Vescio played their best game for the past 2-3 years. Where has that been?

Unfortunatlely, no Hill, no Carlton.

We basically handed them 2-3 goals (and thus the game) by silly disposals in front of goal.

Our worst game for the year, but saints were on a roll and that makes it 6 in a row. Coming up against Kangas next week which are on...what 23 in a row?

We are slipping down the ladder when we should've been entrenched in the top 4.
Ultimately, i think we are still playing better than predicted. However, everyones expectations changed with a hot start.
Hopefully Hill back is all we need.

We've been forced into too many changes in recent weeks, it shows, the team balance is lost.
