I really hate Thursday night football. This will probably be the only one I get to this year.
We have won only 2 Thursday night games, and of those, only the win against Essendon at the end of last year was truly satisfying.
Can we pull off an upset tonight? I hope so, but I am not confident. We simply do not appear to have addressed the reasons why they have been beating us lately.
What's the deal with Hewitt not in the team?
Game hasnt started and im already annoyed!
Could be the need for speed, or it could be that his form has dropped off. He is listed in this article as our biggest "slider":

We didn't bring in speed.
Last week we dropped.....
Weitering
Hayward
Hewett
and brought in....
Haynes
Williams
OKeefe
This week we dropped...
Okeefe
Boyd
Derkson
This week we brought in...
Dean
Hayward
Weitering
Net result over those 2 weeks is....
OUT: Hewett, Boyd, Derkson
IN: Wiliams, Haynes, Dean
That makes us slower overall as its 2 smalls and a tall out
and 1 small and 2 talls in.
@kruddler I think we are a bit too tall for my liking still, but Haynes has more athleticism than Okeefe and Derkson combined. We only lost run on Boyd, and you could argue Hayward is like for like.
Its 2 glacial talls and 1 small running player for 2 talls that have better agility and speed, and 1 small that is likely not as quick as the one out, but has a lot more class and ability about him (just hasnt put it together yet). To me it signals that we are swinging Lewis Young forward, and id be keeping an eye out for late changes.
Point is the same. More athletic talls or not, they are not smalls and they are certainly not capable of playing a midfield role that we took Hewett out of.
Yes, we can shuffle a little bit by adding Williams into the midfield more, but we need more help in the midfield, not less.
Hayward was out and then back in, so he doesn't 'add' anything since we dropped Hewett, he just missed a game.
Can't stick a tackle to save our lives.
Letting the Filth just waltz through us..
omg the foot skills are horrible
There was 2-3 tackles in a row that the pies basically dropped the ball and it was play on, so not sure why we bother
haynes is back to be being a dud
Be nice to stick a tackle
Haynes off the pace. Young list in space
Haynes is embarrassing
Young not far behind him..
We have some very dumb players and others who are incredibly lazy too.
Foot skills terrible
Kemp needs to be persisted with up forward.
Can't fathmom why so many wanted him to go back tonight.
Our first qtr time defeat for the year.
Is anybody running with Daicos?
Has Harry remember that once upon he time he had talent?
Haven't seen this from him for a while.
Thought we lost him with that big fall from the marking contest before. Maybe it knocked some sense into him. ;D
I don't like the way McKay takes a mark and turns his back on the team-mates further towards goal, he has done it twice thus far.
I'm not saying that he isn't having a bit of a crack but he does need to keep aware and open to seeing another better scoring option either further upfield or more centred.
Most of the time he is either....
a) the last player there, thus knowing there is nobody behind him
b) trying to see if a player is running past for a handball
TBH, i don't want him trying to make a quick kick to a teammate, that is usually his undoing.
I hear you, just prefer all of the players to be more team orientated.
Arc
Collingwood - 2
Carlton - 0
Any other season I'd feel a little excited at this point.
McGovern and Haynes didn't support each other, Sheppard on the boundary. Should have cleared that easy. Turnover. Goal

Couple of bottom 8 teams slugging it out
Poor disposal killing us. Letting Filth back in the game..
That’s about right. Pies ahead of us on composure, we look panicky.
I'd like to know E Hollands's role, he hasn't had a stat yet.
He'll be opening up a donut shop soon.
Here we go....
If we get runover again we will be one of the great laughing stocks of football ever.
like clockwork
Brilliant effort Carlton ... Bet Voss is sitting there looking like a stunned mullet....senior players looking clueless at each other....ZERO LEADERSHIP of any kind
they played with us.
No free kicks to h. Smashed in the chops
I can't get near a telly but can someone please tell me who is running with Nick Daicos? Tell me somebody is, surely?
Disgusting
The club clearly has no idea how to dig out of this....time to blow it up.
Round six and it's screwed beyond reckoning....let that sink in....round six.
Being out coached and outplayed again
They have too much composure when it counts so they make way better decisions overall. The other thing is, when in possession from the back half, they kick it around, they are not in any hurry, they just playing the waiting game for the opening to go through.
I have not been impressed with Cripps at all, he has been a passenger for the majority of the night.
On the flipside, Cowan has been way better tonight than he has been for a long time, fingers crossed he goes on with it in the coming weeks.
Great tackle by Gov.....hurt himself in the process.
We bust our arse to claw one back and they simply answer it within a minute.
Beaten in every statistical category....Daicos boys had 65 possessions between them....Bravo Voss and MC, really got the tactical planning squared away...NOT
Footy gods feeling sorry for us??
Nope
That was classy by Pendles at the end
Elijah Hollands ............... a complete set of donuts for the whole match, not one stat at all.
FFS, let's end the charade, he has to go at the end of the season.
Sh1t when it counts!
He has to go next week and afaic he can take his brother with him.
Yep....sh1t when it counts...reliably unreliable.
If Nas and Butters are worth 2 plus mill then NickD must be worth 3 mill a year...
and predictably predictable.
