We play on Saturday at 12:05 at home.
Team isn't available yet.
We're actually above this mob on the ladder at the moment. They've killed us recently.
One, maybe two Emergencies will probably not play, as the seniors are on in the evening.
Our line-up:
B: 41 Matt Duffy 33 Lewis Young 47 Wade Derksen
HB: 28 Harry Charleson 37 Jordan Boyd 74 Logan Prout
C: 36 Cooper Lord 46 Matthew Cottrell 13 Blake Acres
HF: 8 Lachie Fogarty 39 Talor Byrne 70 Darcy Hogg
F: 43 Ashton Moir 40 Hudson O'Keeffe 45 Flynn Young
R: 25 Liam Reidy 31 Campbell Chesser 16 Ben Camporeale
Int: 59 Cooper Vickery 62 Oliver Warburton 58 Jack Sammartino 76 Cody Walker 60 Will Reinhold 64 Archie Stevens 61 Dane Harvey 53 Ollie Badr 51 Jaiden Magor 67 Tom Evans 65 Jed Rule 56 Flynn Riley
Em: 77 Will Cookson
[1] 16 AFL Blues named, maybe 14 will play. I doubt all the Emergencies will, or we wouldn't have named such a long bench.
[2] I expect Derksen to line up forward. Assuming Harvey plays, we look somewhat better balanced.
[3] Nice to see Cody Walker named again. he has shown plenty in his 2 showing so far.
[4] Prout and Sammartino have shown plenty this season.
Byrne, Derksen, Moir, and Reidy are all prominent early in this game.
We're in front early 2-2-14 v 2-0-12
It's pretty free flowing aat the moment.
Not a lot of pressure.
Derksen playing defence and intercepting well at the moment
Crazy for a kid, but Walker looks a class above everyone else...he's AFL ready.
Fogarty showing why he is playing VFL.
Yet another miss 30m our directly in front.
Not good enough for a small forward. Should be delisted at the end of the year.
30 all at quarter time.
We've got there with 4-6
They've got there with 5 straight
::)
Blues going okay against last years premiers.
We are no good in front of goal
vs
They can't miss.
Ollie Warburton may be worth a watch.
Took a really nice grab in that first quarter and kicked a goal.
He comes from a Carlton family (grandfather and great grandfather playes seniors for Carlton and dad played reserves)
10 shots to 5. Should be well in front. Bet our defensive game tightens up in the 2nd qtr.
They're getting some easy goals, some end to end stuff.
They seem to have plenty of space in their forward line
Reidy doing well in the ruck.
Derksen doing well with the intercept marks (7 marks so far)
Moir has a double, scores are level.
Burner does everything really well except kick straight. If he can become reliable in front of goal, we will have a beauty there.
72 to 59 our way at the 18min mark of the 3rd
HOK has kicked probably the goal of the year off lying on his back in the goal square
Burner strong mark and clever to draw a 50, 6 in a row.
There should be a minimum kg/cm to play AFL, Will Darcy might snap in half one day.
Good to see the CFC "premiership quarter" is alive and well. Wonderful effort to this point.
Keep the updates coming guys. I'm O/S at the moment and my watchafl subscription isn't working!!
Lewis Young playing some sort of a game IMO
3rd goal for the little no 39
Come on Ash, youre better than that, could have had his 4th hits the post from 2 mrs out.
Then gets involved in the in the pocket, gathers tight on the boundary after the ump pays advantage and slots an impossible one so does get his 4th
Normal ball butchers Young and Ben C have been very very good.
He looked ready during the pre-season. He seemed a step beyond even in training.
Footscray forwards aren't giants but Derksen and Young have controlled the skies.
Ben Camporeale has done some really good work at the contests
Couple of goals in a row to Foots 106 73
106-73 16 minutes into the last.
Derksen: 15 marks!
Cody Walker!
Walker bursts the pack to intercept a kick out and slots a goal on the run
Great goal on the run for C. Walker. ;D
Need to keep tanking to make getting walker easier.
Difference maker.
Goal to Foots 113 79
Walker's awareness is next level.
But can't hid the side of the barn.
Can't carry someone that is that poor by foot.
Peppering the goals, but can't find the big opening.
And again!
115-79 24 minutes into the last
Cottrell has been disappointing
They kick straight, while we can't.
3 soft goals to Foots, 19 pts at the 30 min mark
Gone to sleep now, 19 points in front.
Not happy with the junk time goals, but the scoreline flatters Footscray.
117 97 FT
16 21 119 to 15 7 97
Last few minutes were pretty poor, but the rest ...
The 2's main problem this year has been our inability to kick straight.
May just need someone to come with the right skills to correct what Ben is doing wrong with his kicking. Fev or Mark Williams perhaps.
It has me stuffed that someone who comes into the AFL system....whose dad played FFS....can come in with such poor skills.
Big game from Acres: 28 possessions, 8 marks, 1 tackle
Otherwise, not a lot of large possession getters:
Lewis Young: 22 possessions, 10 marks.
Wade Derksen: 20 possessions and 15 marks.
Ben Camporeale: 20 possessions, 5 clearances
Cody Walker: 19 possessions, 4 clearances, 1 goal 1.
Liam Reidy: 15 possessions, 23 taps and 11 clearances.
Hudson O'Keefe: 8 possessions, 12 taps, 2 clearances, 2 goals 1.
Chesser, Boyd, Charleson, Cottrell & Fogarty quieter today.
Lord: was he taken off to be held over? 9 possessions and wasn't seen during the last quarter. (I only saw maybe 20 minutes).
I presume Flynn Young is also held over.
Talor Byrne: not getting huge numbers, but 3 goals and making an impact.
Initially went off with an eye issue.
Ben Camporeale has to nail those shots at goal.
I think that it is more confidence than technique and every miss will make it worse. I bet he slots those kicks at training.
:( :( Not what I hoped to hear.
Yes, I think so as well. Seems like a headspace issue IMO. Not sure if his technique is flawed, but if so it is fixable.
As Kruddler said the commentators initially said it looked like an eye injury, but the boundary rider mentioned concussion and he didn't return. There was a shot of him talking to the medicos and some friends or family on the sidelines.
Ben C lacks toe which is an issue. Umpiring - especially HTB - was dreadful all day, umps clueless on what to pay.
Both Campos will be in trouble with a new LM imho, their average kicking and lack of pace won't help them stay on the list even being father/sons picks.
Need to see Ben at senior level to judge him better...
Ben C gets to the right places and is good in tight I just don't think he's the type we need ATM. Depends on who goes I guess.
Yep, he was good in the contest and is better handballing than kicking. It's why his Disposal efficiency probably won't read too bad. (yep 80%)
Even then I think we need to see some improvement (from both boys) with a decision on both of them needing to be made.
When Lucas is well they need a block of games at AFL level (probably not at the same time though).
Ben's problem will be, we probably have too many ahead of him for midfield time.
It's a funny sort of game when two of your top 3 possession winners are your KPD's
And they have 25 marks between them
And you still win the game. ;D
I think he's father has had enough time
It's the time of the week we all look forward to. ;) :D
It's a time of positivity where no bad vibes are allowed. :D :D
It's Truslove's VFL report. :)
https://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2026846/vfl-report-card-how-every-afl-blue-performed-in-vfl-round-8
He does have "love" as part of his surname. And we are 2nd with a pretty good percentage. I'd be lovey-dovey as well.
I haven't seen our reserves play so well since I cant remember when.
Yes, I was thinking the same.
Our AFLW team was very good last season also, only one more team to fix to make us contenders at every level.
Last week our AFL, VFL and VFLW team all won.
AFLW isn't playing yet (i dont think they overlap with VFLW) so thats about as good as it gets
