Port have improved lately, after an awful start to the year.
Have we improved?
The game is at 19:35 at Adelaide Oval, which we've struggled with. Another Saturday night game: no more prime time for us.
At least we don't have any more Thursday night games. God, I hate those!
Coming off a win is going to be something different for us.
I wouldn't expect us to win because our structural issues still exist.
[1] Pitto has struggled against Sweet in the past, which puts us on the back foot. Do we bring in Reidy or HOK? Maybe. Although I was pleased with H's work there this week.
[2] We have a very poor record at Adelaide Oval.
[3] We still don't have anyone to take out the opposition's best players.
However, I hope we can repeat this week's 4 quarter effort.
Blues by 5 goals....Port are in get Dougie cheap and keep all the Butters proceeds mode.
You look at their team and they are playing blokes I have never even heard of and around seven of their last selected team I have never seen play.
Good chance to give Ben Camporeale a go.
No O Hollands and Lord is also unavailable for selection.
Blake Acres deserves a chance if we’re serious about winning.
Campo on his home deck would have to be chance as well.
Probably, Flynn Young also needs a game at some level as he didn’t play last week. Not a direct replacement for Hollands hence why Acres will probably play, maybe in place of Evans although won’t provide the same level of pressure.
I dont know if Evans had a negating role last week but he seemed ineffective. Has been like that for a few weeks and he'd be the one I'd drop for Young. Problem with Young is that he's been held over for a few weeks and hasn't played at any level.
In: Talor Byrne, Flynn Young and Derksen
Out: Weitering and O.Hollands (both inj), Zac Williams (rested).
No Moir?
Had to take a choice. There's already 6 smaller/medium forwards already in.
Acres is the one I was expecting, we’re definitely rolling out the younger kids now.
Maybe still not pushing himself hard enough? Oozes talent, but still slackens off too often?
Derksen or Dean on Georgiades could be a real challenge, I did say Blues by 5 goals but on the team selections Im a bit nervous about that prediction. ..
No Lewis Young is telling.
Might kick too many goals against a side that is not expected to kick many.
Sniff sniff I smell tanking
I reckon then might be a late change and he comes in.
L.Young, Acres and Reidy are the emergencies so you never know.
Yes, tough to win over here EB, would be happy with a 5 point win!
Hollands a big loss for us IMO, with his work rate and of course Weitering.
Plenty of ability in forwards Georgiades, Marshall and our ex boy Durds to kick some goals!
Fingers crossed.
Our line-up:
B: 14 Oliver Florent 47 Wade Derksen 2 Lachlan Cowan
HB: 24 Nic Newman 35 Harry Dean 15 Billy Wilson
C: 5 Adam Cerra 18 Sam Walsh 32 Matthew Carroll
HF: 19 Will Hayward 17 Brodie Kemp 30 Jack Ison
F: 39 Talor Byrne 10 Harry McKay 12 Ben Ainsworth
R: 27 Marc Pittonet 7 Jagga Smith 9 Patrick Cripps
Int: 26 Nick Haynes 29 George Hewett 45 Flynn Young 11 Mitch McGovern 44 Francis Evans
Em: 25 Liam Reidy 33 Lewis Young 13 Blake Acres
[1] I would have thought Young would come in for Weitering. Hope Derksen can do the job. If we win in the midfield he might. If they stream out of the middle, Georgiades will get a lot of ball.
[2] Acres: is he as out of favour as Boyd has become? He is in form. Not sure Cerra is a wingman ...
[3] One ruck each. Point source error or masterstroke? We don't have much backup.
Acres has been in the best every week in the vfl and was top 5 in the pre season two kilometres time trial.
If he's not getting a game its cos hes gone.
The chances of winning with seven of our 23 having played less than a dozen games aren’t good, particularly when one of our outs is Weiters.
I’m sure our MC has put a hell of a lot more thought into matchups and Port’s strengths and weaknesses but I would have gone with the Sheriff ahead of Byrner.
I have more faith in Lewis Young than many supporters but I think that Derksen is a better option for this game.
Harry found form when he spent more time on the ruck...hes our 2nd ruck....cripps like to get freed up in that way too.
Very unusual to name a specialist ruckman as an emergency to take interstate, usually they are more flexible players......last minute change with Pitto???
Young could probably play as well.
We might see a few late outs.
