At 16:15, which is less then perfect. At least it isn't a Thursday night!
How the hell could the ump not pay a free or the mark to Harry?
Definitely took the mark. Probably had the free kick before that.
Donuts.
Yep. Free kick and a mark. Ball up.
Bad day for officiating with Scotland being screwed out of 2 penalties this morning.
Crowd, and commentators are really giving the umps some feedback......not sure if you'd call it contructive....but we musy have the d-grade umps this week as they are all over the shop
Try and break a tackle (which is prior opportunity) tackled. Ball up.
F*** me its going to be a long day if this keeps up.
Free kick just before the siren inside 50 as well.
Despite all of this we are only down 5 points.
Umps certainly not doing us any favours
Umpiring is killing us
On a plane with wifi just good enough for scores, but not vision…. Need you all for some decent updates more than ever!,,
Dominating the game. Keeping the ball in our half. Getting poor shots on goal and missing.
Giants scoring almost every time they get the ball inside 50.
At least 2 or 3 of them would be from dubious decisions benefitting them.
Finally got a reward. Holding the ball in front of goal.
Hewett can't miss from 20m out directly in front.
Dominating game, umpires looking after the Giants. Commentators find it funny that we're getting screwed.
Very inexperienced backline making some mistakes, but giants are making every opportunity count.
Whereas we are the worst for score accuracy and 2nd worst for scoring from inside 50's.
So backline hasn't got the experience and forwardline hasn't got the talent and/or delivery.
.......and Frankie kicks a 50m bomb
Frank the tank from outside 50
Frank the TANK!
Frankie again
Franky gets his 2nd.....
......ump calls for score review....
Goal confirmed.
How did the goal umpire see it hit the post if it didn't?
Remember, they have to fail all sensory tests to get selected. Sight is one of them.
Derkson marks, punched out of hands. Play on.
He didn't. I think the soft call was a goal.
He just wanted to check that it didn't because it was close.
Briggs killing us in the ruck.
Giants have very open forward line.
Might be winning the hitouts, but we are winning the clearances.
Including that last one in which Harry got the clearance from the ruck despite not getting the hitout.
Stop relying on hitout stats, they are useless.
Our forward pressure is very good
Our kicking for goal is not, alas.
Kemp kicks accuratly, thank F***.
Starting to get a bit of a run on now. The next 10 minutes could win us the game if we put the foot down.
Yep spot on.
Most of our goals from FP
Who is on Stone?
2 goals from ball ups inside 50
Giants still making the most of every half chance.
A quick kick out of the pack. Goal.
A snap from the pocket. Goal.
We are still controlling the majority of the game. Just need to limit their half-chances and make the most of our full chances!
Oh Pitto..
Hayward a half chance......dribbles past the goals out of bounds. Thats the difference in scoring at the moment.
23 of our 38 points from forward half turnovers
If he were alone in missing, I wouldn't worry, but we have a history in recent years of not being able to kick the goals that matter. Until we cure this problem, it will remain a canker in our side.
Hayward takes a good pack mark and goals from 15m.
Acres making a nuisance out of himself and ruffling some feathers.
If we can make the most of our opportunities, we'll win this.
Simple as that
Another wasted chance
We had a free inside 50, but we played on and stuffed up the kick.
Got another kick at goal, but missed.
Just STOP and take free.
Playing silly in front of goal.
Bad miss from kemp
Kemp around the corner from 30m out in front.
Misses.
F*** me!
We should be 5 goals up
Half time and we're in front. We don't appear to have made the most of our chances, but I haven't seen a thing.
Carlton: 6 - 11 - 47
GWS: 5 - 6 - 36
Patrick Cripps: 20 possessions, 5 clearances, 2 tackles
Sam Walsh: 16 possessions, 1 clearances
Jagga Smith: 14 possessions, 4 clearances
Blake Acres: 13 possessions, 3 tackles, 2 clearances
Bad kicking is bad football. Sack Fraser.
Cripps half chance, can't make the distance on a snap from in play 30m out.
Another opportunity missed.
I can't say this enough. Kemp you f***k** idiot.
Just saw something saying Vossy has signed up with Fox Footy.
Wonder what he would think of this poor kicking.....it cost him his job
if we can't kick straight ...
3 points in a row. :(
Both teams are certainly giving top effort and having a real crack, but apart from a passage of play here or there, it's a somewhat ho-hum affair IMO. No real fluidity from other side, and everything looks a little harder than it normally would.
6 @#$%$# 11. This is happening on a weekly basis and has the potential to be costly. Since we were 8.0 during the 2nd qtr against Port we have kicked 33.52.
I think the 8 straight was the exception rather than the rule.
I wish it were otherwise.
32 Inside 50's
Efficiency inside 50: 59.4 %
Big exception to the rule.
Love crippa, and he could go down as a top 5 blue ever, but, Bont kicks the big goal, daicos kicks the big goal, Henney kicks the goal. The only thing missing from crippa’s game, just kicking that goal that silences the oppo
Honestly, he should've handballed it to someone else who was in a better position. Its not a strong point with him and he needs to recognise this. More likely to miss than kick it, so captains goal or not, better off ensuring the goal by giving the extra handball.
Go for the 'captains goal assist' instead.
We're 18th in the comp for goal accuracy apparently.
Got the mmm’s on the wifi……. They just said we are 27 if we kicked the “expected scores” from our shots. Bad kicking…………..
:( :( :(
And our 2's appear to be at least as bad.
27 up
Frankie kicks his 3rd!
Matthew Cottrell! Big goal.
Cottrell makes the most of a half chance, finally.
Cmon ! Foot on throat time !
We really need to do this more often.
We are a much better side with Acres in it
Another full chance missed.
Makes a difference when he is fit and in form. We missed his influence last year.
Give them a shot at goal 15m out to Toby.
Kicks it as casual as you'd like.......we would've missed it.
Jagga Smith hasn't touched it this quarter so far.
MaKay, Ison & Byrne have 3 possessions or less.
Win a free kick, just outside 50, play on and turn it over.
Making some silly decisions
I think that is probably the first mark inside 50 we've had to a leading forward.
Kemp misses, 8 touches, 1.4
Kemp: 1 goal 4 :(
He makes Casboult look like Peter McKenna...lol.
And backwards we go. :(
We cannot put teams away. 2 quick goals and our lead dissipates like water in a desert.
All we had to do was kick straight and we'd have control.
How did the ump pay a mark to the bloke who was front and square.
Either bounces of our chest, or an opponents fist. guy gets the crumb who had his back to the kick and is paid the mark.
Worst decision of the year. Cost us a goal.
Scores level.
Great kick from Gov inside 50 to walsh 40m out directly in front.
Siren gone.
Goal.
Big goal
6..... 7..... as my son dances around the lounge.
The umpire signalled mark. Had to be to us.
Then lets the Giants player waltz away with it!
WTF is going on out there??!!
Momentum changer right there. F%%^&^&^ idiot
Can't beat the umpires, no matter how hard you work.
This is the pinnacle level of the sport, and a loose ball gets get paid a mark which creates a goal, no video review on that, but have some bloke stubs a toe on the footy as the ball crosses the boundary line and it's a review.
If we are good enough ...
Carlton: 9 - 13 - 67
GWS: 9 - 7 - 61
Patrick Cripps: 28 possessions - a quieter quarter.
Sam Walsh: 28 possessions
George Hewett: 22 possessions
Jagga Smith: 19 possessions
Blake Acres: 19 possessions
Efficiency inside 50: 49%
6 points up.
6 more scoring shots.
Sums up the game.
Hayward from 50 goes bang!
Need some more of that.
Will Hayward! We needed it!
BTW, last quarter we went back to long bombs inside 50 and got picked off every time.
Lower the eyes.
Work around the 50 until you find an option.
Otherwise target the boundary inside 50 so we get a stoppage at least.
No more long bombs though!
....and right on cue....
Cripps got a free against.
Commentators had 3 goes at why the whistle blew.
All 3 of them resulted in Cripps free kick.
End result, GWS free kick!
F*** me, there is only 9k at the gound, it can't be home crowd advantage
Managed a week off last week from last qtr clench sphincters but here we are again...lol.
And who does it go against?
It went against Cripps.
He was tackled, got a handball, whistle blew and thought it was either in the back, too high, dumped afterwards.......holding the ball!
1.5
Brodie Kemp: 1 goal 5 :(
Can we get him out of the forward line, he's killing us
Free kick in a ruck contest from throw in. Pittonet never got near it as he was pushed out early......free kick against.
Why??
If he could kick the game would be done.
Ison got tackled from behind attempting a kick, reckon it came off his knee, but was free against.
Not the worst decision.
Thing that i noticed from it was afterwards you could read his lips "Talk to me" which was fair enough. Teammates should've told him he was under pressure....didn't....cost us a shot on goal.
Who said they didn't want Cottrell in the team??
Bang, again.
Matthew Cottrell for his 2nd! Sei danket Gott!
Free kick to Harry 30m out in front.
Bang.
Game over??
H scores at last, and it is a big one!
Pity he couldn't repeat it.
and then misses one he should've kicked. Hit the post.
Kicking efficiency in the 4th quarter
47% GWS
73# us.
Acres did he shoulder again??
The handy point.
Handy goal would have been better though.
Hogan misses an easier one at the other end.
They've dropped their bundle.
We are home.
Line up at BASS for the finals tickets lads!,
11.2% keeping us out of the 10!
GWS get a free that wasn't there to close the margin, but no good.
86 seconds left.
5 in a row
West Coast at home next week.
We have Eagles, Tigers then the real stuff begins.
Didn't think we'd win. Amazing.
Carlton: 12 - 16 - 88
GWS: 9 - 11 - 65
I'm so relieved.
Patrick Cripps: 33 possessions, 3 tackles, 7 clearances
Sam Walsh: 34 possessions, 2 tackles, 5 clearances
George Hewett: 30 possessions, 4 tackles, 5 clearances
Jagga Smith: 26 possessions, 1 tackles, 7 clearances
Nic Newman: 25 possessions
Blake Acres: 25 possessions
Brodie Kemp: 1 goal 5 behinds. :( How to dominate a game and produce nothing.
Cripps was quieter in the 2nd half, but still important. Hewett really lifted after half time. Smith had a quiet 3rd quarter, but a big past quarter.
Pittonet was beaten by Briggs, but managed to nullify him: we dominated clearances. Pitto ended up with 21 taps, but his generally were more constructive.
Frankie Evans probably the most effective forward: he could kick straight.
I guess it is time to move threads. I need a drink!
2 games that scares more than the big ones...haha.
