Title: AFL Rd 16 2026 Pre Game Predictions Carlton vs West Coast at Marvel
Post by: crashlander on June 21, 2026, 12:07:05 am
Saturday 27th June at 13:15 at Marvel.
We will go into this game as considerable favourites. Not sure I like that idea.

As Thry pointed out this is the first week for a while (probably the StKilda game) where we have expectations. Fans are looking at a top 10 finish now and a loss won't be acceptable so there is more pressure.

Agree but still think we will get the job done.

A lot has changed mentally and game plan wise since Fraser took over means I'm more confident than I have been in long time coming up against weaker opposition.

WC have some dangerous players and if they get their tail up can cause an upset but i reckon we will be ready for them and wont take them as easybeats like we did with Essendon.

NOT according to Fraser.

Who are the weaker teams Voss has lost to this year?

You can't say Collingwood because you are only 50/50 on whether we can beat them LMAO.

RR, here at the good ship CFC, we've seen many a sacked coach over the journey. Can you recall when anyone has been half as glowing on the previous coach as our current coach and numerous players, and even the powers that be have been??

This is not your average handover. This goes above and beyond simply being diplomatic.
Fraser would be well within his right to take some credit for what he's been able to do, but everytime without fail he gives kudos to Vossy first. Same with the players, Jagga has done it at least twice in post match interviews.

Is that what your hanging your hat on MMB.  At the time of playing them Crows, Pies, St Kilda, Melb, North were all getable. We lost them all and should have lost to Rich as well. Every one of them in the exact same way.

We were 1-8 under Voss and change coach and win then next 5 straight and still don't believe.

This is no sugar hit.

Think we have done this to death mate

Should have lost to Essendon and Geelong were ripped off.

Could easily of lost one or both.

Anyway…back onto this weeks game, this will be my second trip to Marvel this year after watching us fall apart against the saints in round 8, that night was horrendous to witness as we were toyed with by the saints. Thankfully we’ve turned it around to now be hunting teams.
Injuries aside I’d run with the same line up, Ison  was a mile off it last week but has a touch of class that we desperately need so I’d keep him in. Fingers crossed for a happier trip to Marvel this week.

Stay on topic
It's the pre game thread.
If you want to dispute something  regarding coaches copy and paste to the coach thread and thrash it out there.

Hopefully I can see my first live win.
Kangaroos, Melbourne, Collingwood and StKilda were pretty traumatic for my kids lol.

Not sure about that.  Poor against Essendon yes.

Argument that we should have beaten Geelong by more even with the missed Dempsey goal

Should have beaten Pies (played one short), North and Melbourne.

Haven't been to as many as you this year thanks to the poor timing of games, but am hoping to see my first win this week with the young one as well.

Fingers crossed.

And at times has been wearing varying degrees of wrist strapping.

I'm not confident this week, after watching the replay of the GWSD match I saw signs of the team work ethic slipping, in respect to reverting to some bad habits that have largely been absent for the last few weeks. Against CheatsFC it was just ugly execution by both teams, but moments in the GWS game saw a bit of selfishness returning and to me that's a bad indicator after only a handful of wins.

Believing their own hype maybe?

Wet Toast will think we are cherry ripe for the picking after seeing some of the old stuff creep into the GWS game.

Nothing's guaranteed, other than if you go into a match thinking you can't lose.... there is a fair chance you're going to get rolled.

"Week to week" ;)

Weiters didn't complete his fitness test so we're going with an unchanged lineup.

Weiters does seem to struggle with sofe tissue injuries - perhaps a consequence of having humungous muscles.

Our line-up:

B:   14 Oliver Florent   47 Wade Derksen   26 Nick Haynes
HB:   2 Lachlan Cowan   35 Harry Dean   15 Billy Wilson
C:   5 Adam Cerra   18 Sam Walsh   13 Blake Acres
HF:   46 Matthew Cottrell   11 Mitch McGovern   12 Ben Ainsworth
F:   17 Brodie Kemp   10 Harry McKay   39 Talor Byrne
F:   27 Marc Pittonet   9 Patrick Cripps   7 Jagga Smith
Int:   19  Will Hayward   24 Nic Newman   29 George Hewett   30 Jack Ison   44 Francis Evans
Em:   4 Oliver Hollands   6 Zac Williams   38 Flynn Riley

[1] Disappointing that Weitering didn't come up, but we do need to get him fit. Too often we bring guys back too soon.
[2] Interesting to see Riley as Emergency again. Williams and Hollands sort of pick themselves, if they are going reasonably.
[3] Can Brodie Kemp learn to kick straight?

With calves the size of his, its bound to take longer than any other mere mortal.

Well, I suppose everything comes at a price, and he's certainly not Joe Average in the strength stakes. I remember when fans were throwing rocks at him for being too small to stand gorillas! ;D

I also remember when the club mismanaged SpecialK, and turned the AFL's most hardened aerobic ruck beast into a 120kg chandelier.
