Next Sunday night at 19:20 at Marvel. Disgraceful timing, but that is what is it is.
The 'Aints humiliated us earlier this year, one of the few times we were really bad, so we have a lot of work to do something about that.
Silvagni dislocated his shoulder. They would be insane to play him, but this is Ross Lyon we're talking about.
Big game, anything is possible. Fraser and the team have done most things right thus far, as he said in his presser, cant look any further than next Sunday night and process required this week to content agains them.
St Kilda weren't too bad yesterday.
We know they have some talent.
Some we may not be able to control for all of the game.
It took a big effort for the Swans to get over the top of them.
The Silvagni injury hurt them.
We were on a bit of a high...
Will there be a let down?
Cripps and Haynes in milestone games.
I'm wondering whether there might have also been a message to the decision makers in terms of "playing for Fraser."
The team are making it hard to look elsewhere.
Both teams will have strong incentives to win.
Probably a 50/50 game.
Chris Fagan last week
"There's always a big sledgehammer waiting around the corner"
We dont play too bad against lions.
We dont play great against the saints.
Gotta make sure the boys are switched on becaise I dont think the saints will roll over like the Lions did.
That's applicable to everyone, even Saint Josh.
I didn't miss the slap from Toss regarding JSoS in his presser..."we're so lucky to have him".
And we are so, so lucky we picked anybody else to coach us rather than that smug prat, even if we sacked him.
Play Wilkie the same way we played Andrews. Take his intercept marking out of the equation. His task will be that much harder if Silvagni is out as well.
One of the buggers of a game like Saturday, you can only enjoy it for a couple of days then have to back up a week later and do it again. Suppose it's the same unless you win the GF. This week more than ever. An 8pt game to end all 8 point games. Win and we are 2 games clear of St.Kilda heading towards a wildcard, needing only one win to make it. Lose and they jump us.
2 wins would be nice to finish with a positive win/loss record.
im a conspiracy theorist.
We dont win this week, and gws jag a win, and its a race to 10th.
The afl want as much attention as possible so expect a loss.
We have to win this week. Saints won't lose again.
Lose this week and we have to beat Freo to make it. (and the dogs)
Dogs themselves don't have it too easy. They should beat North, although North tend to make things tough for most sides even in defeat, but then they play us and Melbourne. It could be a last chance saloon for us in case St.Kilda roll us but we'd have to beat both the Dogs and Freo. A win this week and a 2 game buffer on the Saints sounds much better.
I wouldn't be flirting with form. I don't think Weitering should be an automatic in.
https://www.sen.com.au/news/2026/08/03/afl-2026-carlton-win-versus-brisbane-the-perfect-game-adam-simpson-lauds-blues-dominance-after-15-year-first
While he doesn’t believe the win was a lesson in coaching from interim Fraser, Simpson did concede that everything the Blues have been working on – even prior to Fraser’s tenure – was on show in full effect on Saturday night.
“I’m not sure it’s a masterclass, but everything they tried worked,” he said.
“Sometimes it’s just playing your way. A lot of the things Carlton have done really well in the last 10 weeks; they were working on in November and December.
“That’s the beauty of the transition that Josh made. He didn’t tweak a lot of things, but they evolved really quickly.
Can you imagine saying that 10 weeks ago….but your point is valid, hard to pinpoint anyone to be dropped on the back of last Saturday’s performance. If he’s right to go I’m sure he’ll be in with Young being the unlucky out.
based on that Vossy wasn’t given enough time, just when that debate was beginning to subside🙄. Also far from an ringing endorsement for Fraser as our next senior coach.
I suspect that's probably what will happen, but I'm not sure it's right.
We should definitely be savoring the moment, because :
a. it was great
b. it won't happen again for a while.
We got the best version of Carlton vs the worst version of Brisbane. Every bounce of the ball was in our favour, everything we tried worked. One of those rare games where everything just clicked for us. Nobody would think that game was an accurate representation of where both teams are at. If only we could have a result like that every week.
Which has been the argument all along.
I've never said Voss is a supercoach. Just give him some time to do what he needs to do. Fraser is riding on his coattails, and not doing a thing wrong, and doing plenty right. But people attributing all the success to Fraser and none to Voss is a recipe for disaster.
Look at the bigger picture as to what has changed since Vossys departure.
2 things....quality of opposition has been poorer.
Improvement from our captain (and its not just him, but obvious when looking at him) has made a huge difference.
I don't want to restart the debate. The article is nothing new to me, and some others, however all the voss haters/fraser boosters continue to ignore that and argue against it. Its dishonest and/or naive.
I’m ambivalent to be honest but I don’t buy your comment about quality of opposition given we have beaten Geelong and Brisbane.
I've just been breaking the ladder down week by week. Previous to our efforts this week (and geelongs to rise up the ladder) we hadn't beaten a team inside the top 6. Hadn't lost to a team in the bottom 5, and had split the difference between the teams in the middle.
That was based on nothing other than the ladder positions for about a month straight.
You don't have to buy it, that was the facts.
As mentioned, this was before last weekends games.
I get it but we won nothing with Vossy this year. For what it’s worth I was a fan of Vossy but his record made it hard to defend his position. Anyway let’s see who gets the role and how we fair in 2027 as this year is a write off.
breaking the ladder down…… lol.
Youre critiquing Frasers 9 wins from 11 games and at the same time excusing 1 win against the bottom team in the first 9 games.
Hard to take you seriously.
Facts are facts.
Its an observation, not a critique.
Your inability to see the difference does you no favours and sends you down a misguided rabbit hole.
Im not anti-fraser. Never have been. You cant seem to get that through your head though.
Take it to the coach thread please.
This is for the pre-match.
::)
Was wondering when you would put this to bed😁, as for this Sunday I couldn’t stand another loss to this mob after our meek performance last time. I don’t expect the same level of finishing we produced last Saturday night but anything close will see us win.
They've owned us a bit of late, anything less that what we put up on Sat night and they might own us again. This one means a lot.
We have been Geelong's bunnies last few years. Dont ignore that. Brisbane we have less success against, but this match should be remembered 2024 Opening Round: Carlton defeated Brisbane 13.8 (86) to 12.13 (85) at the Gabba.
We came from the clouds to win that one, and it wasnt the performance saturday was but its still relevant.
This week is the ultimate test. High stakes against our wild card rival.
Brisbane and Geelong were great wins but we were expected to get smashed so we don't have that pressure to perform.
Agree, this game means something more. Let see how we deal with that pressure.
I have attended 7 games for 1 win against West Coast. I'm doing the right thing by staying home on Sunday night.
There are two facets to this. The man on the shoulder has gone without the pressure to win. Winning has led to more winnning.
Form is fickle. It can and will change quickly and a loss or win this week proves nothing.
Just in case, you're being tied to the chair so you can't move...lol.
Ross the Boss is the king of dullness, he loves taking an exciting sport and turning it into a dead boring mental drain, it could well be a nil-all draw!
Q for you all.
If Weitering is fit and is to be picked, who goes out.
Derkson is the obvious like for like but (like the whole team) played well and doesn't deserve to be dropped.
Would they swap Weitering for a smaller player (not a like for like)?
Everyone will say Young, but Young has proven to be able to play def, ruck and fwd. Cottrell?
Left field approaches:
Lowest Fantasy points scorer = Gov
Least ToG = Haynes
Least Disposal = Evans
There is also a fair argument to say that "No Change" and Weiters can have a run in the 2s if he is over his injury
Looks like SOS is a test and is a chance to. Hope he does and our blokes "test" it out for him. And I know just the little prick with no former ties or mate ship with him. Banger, come on down.
This mob are right up there with the Dawks. Hate them with a passion. Their DH coach their dweeb of a president. We've been their easybeats for so long it's sickening. Please footy Gods, let us right the wrongs this week for a change.
Even when we should we struggle to beat this mob.
Need to belt them in the middle
If Haynes spent the least TOG he may be carrying a niggle and may need a rest. Weiters is not a like for like replacement but could come in with a reshuffle based on match ups.
Secondly, the tackle count last week is of note as it was low for both sides (high 30’s I think), I’m expecting the Saints to make it a real grind on Sunday night with higher tackling pressure, it will be interesting to see if we can reproduce that level of football against a much more defensive team.
Carlton
In: H.Charleson, O.Hollands, F.Young
Out: Nil
Looks like an extended bench at the moment.
Still no weitering
Watch on a few Saints players including Jack (obviously), TDK and Nas (who didn't want to train) ::)

When your on $2M a year, you can walk in and tell the coach to GAGFed and that you dont want to train.
EAD Ross, you made your bed, now lie in it. Drop him, I dare ya.
Cracks opening up at the sniffers
Some would argue its good management.
Personally its a distraction piece.
Coming back through the reserves, obviously not trusting his body 100% yet.
coming through the ressies is the new carlton big tick for me
Team is locked in...no change.
https://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2092987/afl-team-news-blues-confirm-team-of-23
Charleson, Hollands and F Young the emergencies.
Anticipating a late change, and Charleson getting a gig. Perfect game to bring him in. Release Cowan to go tag Nas, and Charleson to play his role.
I'm gobsmacked there are no late changes, I watched bits and pieces of The Aints last week and I expected both TDK and SoJ to miss.
Beware the wounded opponent!
i hate these Pr1cks.
cant stand Ross.
cant stand Jack
Would love to beat them
I cant stand the club, the players, their supporters, the whole lot.
Must win game, form tells us its a should win game, I am not yet convinced of our ability to win these against opposition that have by and large owned us for a very long time. We only seemed to be able to beat them when Ross wasnt coaching them.
