OK, so i wanna try something a little different. Lets try and find out who were our best 3 players last night.
You get to vote for 3 players who you think deserved some recognition for their efforts compared to the rest of the team.
Have at it...
Curnow, Ellard and Murphy were clearly our best 3 players although Murphy's game was just average by his standards.
I couldn't find three.....we need a none of the above option :(
Nope...i'd expect that to win in weeks like this!
I went with Waite as my 3rd option behind Curnow and Ellard.
I think Waite did well considering the supply he received.
2 goals
4 marks inside 50
3 contested.
Curnow, Murphy and Warnock for mine (Ellard unlucky).
Curnow did well all game and kicked goals when needed too.
Murphy was consistent across 4 quarters without being brilliant.
Warnock was the best ruckman on the ground, if he could have rucked 100% of the game we would have been in a better position.
Thought Ellard was great in the first half, but like the rest of the team, struggled a bit in the second half.
I thought Murph was great (especially early) but let himself and the side down with that pi55 poor attempt to mark. Port kicked what 6 in a row after that? So he misses out.
Curnow - hard running a potent attacking weapon.
Gibbs - showed his class, very industrious.
Yarran - blanketed one of the most dangerous players on the ground and made nearly every one of his disposals count.
Some of the guys mentioned here I had closer to my bottom 3.
Ellard, Curnow and Waite for me.
I cant give Yarran a win for stopping wingard. Wingard had it 22 times.
Stopping a small forward is what whoever did what they did to Jeffy Garlett. He gave us his impersonation of the invisible man all night.
God bless Ellard's soul, if only our other princesses had some of the fight he has. Last one that deserves to be dropped but will probably be one of the first.
Davey's always had fight and heart, it's fitness, a little pace and / or size that he is lacking!
He looks like a guy who is willing to leave nothing in the tank at every opportunity he gets. That is why I think so many love him!
Ellard and Curnow
Both good, as was Simpson and Waite to some degree.
Ellard and Curnow looked OK in patches.
Yarran apparently did a good job on Wingard and had a couple of purple patches himself.
All up - slim pickings. >:(
Btw, is this how we're doing our best player thing?
+1 for every best vote, -1 for every worst? Or whatever...
Not too many highlights.
Ellard is playing because of his defensive efforts but looks fantastic attacking.
Wasn't intended to be a replacement for the traditional voting system, just thought we'd give this a go and i'll come out with some stats along the way.
Its up to Crash to see if he wants to continue the number crunching of the normal system.
Gibbs, Ellard, Curnow.
Happy to read this, I actually think Yarrans defensive work is under rated by many.
We have had 52 people who have voted in the WORST on ground thread (http://www.carltonsc.com/index.php?topic=902.0), but only 33 people vote in this one.
The more people who vote, the better.
and about 5 players received votes in both. :))
That's probably a reflection of the result Kruds.
When we have a big win there will be no votes for worst on the ground :D
Hopefully the Worst on the ground is a "tumbleweed" thread for most of the year
I suspected we would see something along these lines, but hoped it wouldn't happen.
This will just give me another way of analysing the results if this trend continues though.
I've got quite a few ideas on how i can play with the numbers we receive through these threads, but i don't want to say what they are as it may influence how people vote.
What is clear either way is that the more votes, the better.
So keep voting people.
Not many have voted for the Jim Park Medal, I'm afraid. Its coming in a very poor 3rd.
