Title: Voting for the Jim Park medal: R#3 Carlton vs Essendon
Post by: crashlander on April 07, 2014, 10:48:43 am
What a disaster! One of the worst performances I can remember. We were outplayed in almost all areas. I find it difficult still to contain my anger, and I don't usually have anger management issues.

Be that as it may, it is time to vote. It will NOT be an easy task.

Remember:
[1] Must add up to 15 votes
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Please give a rating for the team performance - it determines the weighting for the vote tally. In this case, an 'F' is acceptable, especially in this case.
[4] Please don't use nicknames for players - I'll probably know who they are, but I may not. I am not perfect.

By the way, does the thread with the voting results come up? I haven't had much feedback, so I wonder if people are actually seeing the thread at all.

Voting: I really did not enjoy voting this week. It was one of our worst performances with a general lack of effective play all over the field. I especially hated losing to Essendon, who are our antithesis. I find their arrogance and self righteousness galling, considering they are guilty of the worst scandal ever to effect Australian Football. But we did not show them the error of their ways, which hurt a lot.

Team:   F
There isn't much more to say. We played without passion. We didn't work hard enough. Our disposal was diabolical.

Votes:
[3]   Carrazzo
[2.5]   Gibbs
[2]   Simpson
[2]   Walker
[1]   Menzel
[1]   Buckley
[1]   Murphy
[1]   Bell
[0.5]   Warnock
[0.5]   Rowe
[0.5]   Robinson

Explanations:
[3]   Carrazzo:   For a guy who wasn't 100 % fit and playing his first game for the year, Carrots did a great job. He kept his opponent down and got a large number of clearances.
[2.5]   Gibbs:   Tried hard and got a fair bit of the ball, but his disposal was not up to his normal standard.
[2]   Simpson:   Did OK, but he was not hot. His kicking was ordinary.
[2]   Walker:      Tried his guts out, but his disposal was terrible.
[1]   Menzel:      His kicking was also down: how he missed that goal from point black range I don't know. However, he did put in and gave a much better contest than most of his team mates.
[1]   Buckley:   tried hard and did OK.
[1]   Murphy:   Some nice things and some very good clearances.
[1]   Bell:   10 possessions in just over a quarter and ran nicely.
[0.5]   Warnock:   Lots of taps, but otherwise lacked impact.
[0.5]   Rowe:   Kept his opponents quiet and had some really nice moments, but he had a couple of terrible fumbles that leaked goals.
[0.5]   Robinson:   Tried hard, but didn't have the impact he normally would with 20+ possessions.

Honourable Mentions:
Everitt:   Did some nice things, but doesn't do enough.
Curnow:   Actually this was his worst game in a long time, but he did keep his man relatively quiet and ineffective.
