Donald enters his second presidency with a very different set of parameters compared to 2016

- he knows far more about what to expect, who the 'enemy within' actually is, and how he will deal with it all
- he will have control of both houses (at least until the mid-terms)
- he has garnered significant support from outside Government that is already showing influence (eg Elon)
- he has already specified what he intends to do
- most importantly, this will be his last term, so he has no fear of seeking re-election in 4 years' time

I think the USA will be a very different place in 2028.  Perhaps even the 'U' bit will be far weaker.

This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

I'm not so sure Trump will be the real problem as much as the loose cannons floating around him-Musk, Ramaswamy, RFK, his kids etc.

I can see Trump losing interest pretty quickly with his major aim of solving his legal issues out of the way.
He's achieved much of what he wants or needs.
It'll be back to the golf course, and let the fun begin.

Even if he does maintain some semblance of control...good luck keeping these characters on a leash.
It's a recipe for chaos.
Especially as they will be going in multiple directions, pushing their own agendas.

Trump is too much of a narcissist to just ride off into the sunset.  He will have his fingers all over the whole thing - he can't help himself.....

Yes, and his boosters are already spreading the line that the constitution only prevents a POTUS from standing for election after two consecutive terms ...

For a bloke who has been there before, it is a pretty chaotic start with some of his nominees for cabinet and staff already blown out of the water and others facing a torrid time in Senate hearings.

Although the Republicans control the White House, Senate and House of Representatives, it's not really that clear cut, particularly since the numbers representing each party often changes during a Congress, due to death, resignation or as a consequence of a member changing parties.

There were 220 Republicans and 215 Democrats in the House and this is the "smallest margin of control in modern history", according to the Pew Research Centre.  However, Gaetz has gone and Stefanik and Waltz will leave to take roles in the Administration.  That leaves a narrow 217-215 majority until new elections are held and Republicans have already shown that they won't blindly follow Aurangzeb's wishes.

The Senate is more problematic for Aurangzeb.  There are 53 Republican Senators, 45 Democrats and 2 Independents who normally vote with the Democrats, but it's not enough to have a simple majority.  Bills can only be put to the vote if 60 Senators agree that debate on the bill should end.  This is the classic "filibuster" of the US system of government.  Unless all Republican Senators toe the line, and they can garner the support of seven Democrats/Independents, bills won't be put the vote and can't be passed.

It's going to be an interesting four years.

Spot on. His need for adoration (even worship!!!) and domination of the media/spotlight (thinks he's a saviour & moviestar) is totally neurotic and obsessive. Remember, his grandiosity (big narcissist symptom) knows no bounds.

Trump is blaming Biden for starting the war in Ukraine, saying he has some sympathy for Putin and that there was an unwritten rule that Ukraine wouldnt be allowed to join Nato and have them on Russia's doorstep but Biden went against the European status quo and said Ukraine should be allowed to join in turn provoking Putin. Thats BS imho but you can see where this heading and how Trump intends to proceed with ending the war and its going to be Ukraine giving ground as well as not being admitted to Nato imo.
I actually think Bidens dithering and lack of action in being too slow to help Ukraine has prolonged the war and thats helped Putin drag it out to the point we are at now.
Id hate to see Trump sell the Ukrainians out and get the credit for ending the war but I cant see it ending any other way.

Aurangzeb will go along with whichever way Putin pulls his strings.

Biden has been very quietly making executive orders that can only be countermanded by Congress and, as I outlined previously, the Republicans don’t have the numbers to do that.

If the UK, the EU and NATO hold their ground, Ukraine is in with a chance, particularly with the technologically inferior and tactically moribund Russian military.

Putin will be desperately trying to to hold out until the inauguration.  Zelenskyy will be desperately trying to claim as much territory as he can before the inauguration.

If you are worried about water, don't be.  The soon to be leader of the free world has just explained water:

"These people are crazy. There’s something wrong with them, there’s something wrong with them.  They also want to go back and they have already started that too.  When you buy a faucet no water comes out because they wanna preserve, even in areas when you buy a faucet that have so much water you don’t know what to do.  It’s called rain, comes down from, comes down from heaven and uh they want to do uh no, no water comes out of the shower.  It goes drip, drip, drip, so what happens you’re in the shower ten times as long you know right.  No water comes out of the faucet you wanna wash your hands, you, they wanna go back to even stronger than what they have right now.  I, as you know, I ended that policy. You can have all the water you want.  Makes no difference.  Especially in certain areas, we have so much water you don’t know what to do with it.”

His career path took another direction, apparently nudged by an inability to work with President-elect Musk.

It doesn't really matter; there are plenty more of his ilk ...

How will the MAGA flat earthers/moon landing deniers reconcile Aurangzeb’s pledge to plant the Stars and Stripes on Mars? 🤣

It seems that Vivek Ramaswamy made the right decision in abandoning DOGE.

Shortly after the inauguration, the new Administration was slammed with two federal lawsuits.  If DOGE is an external body, it is in violation of Federal Advisory Committee Act.  If it is an internal body, it is in violation of constitutional delegation doctrine.  Either way, DOGE is required to surrender all of their data, information and personnel records under public records laws.

The courts are going to be very busy over the next four years.

Trump has decided there are only two genders available to select from on your passport and has ended diversity, equity and inclusion for Federal employees. Its a bit similar to how the Taliban operate apart from the beards and dress requirements...🤔😶.
The Army are to descend on the Mexican borders and meanwhile Elon has brought back the Nazi salute to western culture, its all happening in the USA and you could never say Trump was easing into the job slowly...
