315 pages on old mate yet conventionally very quiet about the sad state of affairs of the very country we live in.

State and national governments are a absolute shambles in this country. The worst its ever been. Health, policing, state of the roads, Projects, Youth voilence, bail laws, taxation laws are the worse they have ever been and i could go on and on yet those on here into politics comment on every move trump makes.

Why not the same level of criticism or even discussion on whats happening here?

Funny that.

It's quite simple really,

Our governments, of all levels and of whatever persuasions are democratically elected and are subject to checks and balances that, by and large, work quite well.  Every law, regulation, by-law and budget has to be approved by the majority in mainly bi-cameral parliaments,

The USA has a very clumsy republican system and an electoral process that is open to manipulation and maladministration.  There's simply no way that a senile, misogynistic, bankrupted grifter could be endorsed by any of our mainstream political parties and win an election, at any level, let alone become president and claim sweeping powers that are most likely unconstitutional.  And we can all be very thankful for that.

On top of that, this thread is specifically about Taco and his shenanigans, not Australian politics.

If you want to start a thread about our political system, politicians and governments, go right ahead.

The hurricane screamers complain about rising costs, lost jobs, broken roads, etc., etc., while reading about their heroes profiting. Profiting from war, monopolies, oppression, corruption and crime on a global scale, they can't put two and two together. They just keep bitching in the queue about the rising cost of their Meds, it's truly bizarre.

Labor stalwart Mark Latham was nearly PM :D  :D

I had to turn down six orders from the states yesterday, about $3000 in income...because of the ****ked up tariffs. It's not just how much, it's who you pay it to and then something like 20% of parcels are returned, sans tariff fees...they don't even know how to operate their own system it's a total circus.

That’s the point though Lods, he wasn’t elected and, if he had been, he wouldn’t have lasted long.

It’s not that we don’t have aspiring politicians with Taco-like attributes. It’s our system and our less gullible, more sceptical nature that deters them.  Latham’s political trajectory since he was a disaster as ALP leader reflects that but he’d be a star in MAGA land.

One of the features of demonstrations is this...
Folks on the left will march and demonstrate.
Those with extreme views on the right will march and demonstrate
Moderate conservatives won't march or demonstrate.
They don't feel rhe need because they're quite happy with the status quo.

It's why you can't draw much from protest numbers in terms of projecting election results.

While that’s largely true, the No Kings demonstrators aren’t just folk on the left.  For a start, most Democrats would be considered centre-right by our standards.  Lots of Republicans are concerned about Taco’s overreach and the threat that he poses to their form of democracy.  Of course, many of the protesters won’t vote.

Political commentators were predicting the largest US protests ever with 2-3M.  7M protesters is incredible!

Taco’s response to “No Kings” is interesting.  He posted constantly on his Truth Social blog attacking the protesters and making outrageous claims about his accomplishments.  One post was an AI generated clip of Taco piloting an F-18 Hornet and dropping faeces on the protesters. 

And this man controls a nuclear arsenal 😳

When will his MAGA demographic wake up to the insult he hurls at them, he is selling them sewerage as a solution to their real world problems, and they eat it up!

Im gonna say this about politicians.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you cant please all the people ever, and you will certainly displease people frequently. 

They cant win. Even when they do something well someone will be against it.

As you may recall I worked for Murdoch for years, there is a world of difference between doing something and claiming you are doing something. My US based associates tell me the RedTrump administration is basically leaning on regional news and media, the threat of revoking licenses if he doesn't get favourable coverage, no matter what happens globally middle America won't hear much about it.

They now know he won't hesitate to harm those that expose or oppose him.
