Anyone can have a bad first day, but I don't think she'll last.
Which is a real shame because I would have liked to see what Saturday Night Live and Jon Stewart did with her efforts, :D  :D

Just never got into SNL or a lot of other US sketch comedy, I've always preferred the Brits for sketch, maybe I watched too much of the Dean Martin Show growing up.

Stand Up I put in a different category, and I gravitate to the less scripted types. George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Rich Hall I don't mind, they can be a bit dark for some, the US equivalents of a Gervais or Connolly type.

Back on the topic, some US state based Bar Associations have apparently launched enquiries, not sure what the penalty is for being a fake lawyer but we could be about to find out.

Leavitt was cringeworthy but Zacharia was taken it to an entirely new level!

If there's one thing that Taco excels at, it's finding the most unqualified incompetents for roles in his administration  ::)

SNL do the political take-offs really well and that's usually at the beginning of their shows.

But yep I also much prefer the British style of comedy.
He's passed now but I've been watching a lot of Sean Lock... and Michael McIntyre clips.
They make the 'everyday' a bit more ridiculous.

How else do you expect him to be able to assert he is the smartest man in the room?  :D

@PaulP‍ it would be interesting to consider this appointment in the context of the recent "Good Life" liberalism philosophy debates.

I'm not sure I follow.

It's been asserted RedTrump's appointments follow a conservative fundamentalist policy, in which females have a specific place and role in society.

I couldn't help but think of that discussion in context of @Thryleon's tongue in cheek comment about RedTrump.

The debates I refer to stem from the recent "Unsteady State" series published on The Philosopher's Zone, starting with the recent Alan Saunders lecture, well worth a listen.

The short answer is I don't know. Trump, so far as I can tell, is an idealogical void. I don't know whether it's him or those around him that do the hiring and firing, but his focus is power and financial enrichment, and whatever serves those twin motives in the moment is what carries the day, even if it's the direct opposite of what he said yesterday.

Whether this new woman or Hegseth or many others are there to look good in front of the cameras, or to distract the population with theater whilst the country is looted and pillaged, or to simply do what they're told, or to be sufficiently incompetent as to be easily manipulated, I can't say.

If there is a belief that women have a specific (subordinate) place and role in society, I dare say this has nothing to with adherence to any idealogical belief, and purely about a consolidation of power.
