Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis Reply #46 – August 13, 2018, 08:34:24 pm Rd 20: Carlton vs GWSWhat a disaster. And it scared off the voters. There were 13 this week, compared to 17 for the same round last year and 18 last week. The rating was exactly 5.00, the lowest our system accepts: F. And we deserved it the way we played. That said, 15 players managed a mention. In other times I would be happy with that. This week it indicates that few players stood out.Votes:McKay, Harrison 185Cripps, Patrick 175Thomas, Dale 152Petrevski - Seton, Sam 58Murphy, Marc 56Dow, Patrick 27Marchbank, Caleb 27Lobbe, Matthew 15Rowe, Sam 13Simpson, Kade 12Polson, Cameron 8Byrne, Ciaran 8Curnow, Edward 6Curnow, Charles 6Lamb, Jed 4The top score of 185 was pretty low, due to the rating. But when we play poorly, the resulting votes show it.It is Harry McKay's 1st BOG.Patrick Cripps has 10 BOG's this year and 3 2nds! What a domination!Daisy Thomas getting votes also puts him firmly in the top 5, with the likelihood that he will stay there.Progressives:4770 - Cripps, Patrick (0)1992 - Curnow, Edward (0)1549 - Simpson, Kade (0)1505 - Curnow, Charles (0)1373 - Thomas, Dale (0)1085 - Fisher, Zac (0)859 - Jones, Liam (0)805 - Murphy, Marc (0)760 - Kreuzer, Matthew (0)527 - Petrevski - Seton, Sam (0)392 - Weitering, Jacob (0)349 - Lamb, Jed (0)322 - Kerridge, Sam (0)291 - Casboult, Levi (0)289 - Wright, Matthew (0)280 - Rowe, Sam (0)272 - Dow, Patrick (0)245 - McKay, Harrison (0)241 - Marchbank, Caleb (0)203 - Plowman, Lachlan (0)195 - Kennedy, Matthew (0)180 - Silvagni, Jack (0)145 - Graham, Nick (0)140 - Phillips, Andrew (0)88 - Lobbe, Matthew (0)81 - O'Brien, Lochie (0)71 - Cuningham, David (0)60 - Garlett, Jarrod (0)37 - Mullett, Aaron (0)36 - Lang, Darcy (0)15 - Polson, Cameron (0)13 - Byrne, Ciaran (0)6 - Pickett, Jarrod (0)This one has been won a LONG way from home. Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis Reply #48 – August 14, 2018, 01:51:22 pm Absolutely. This year has been the greatest imbalance I can remember. What is worse is that our 5th ranked player, Daisy Thomas, is clearly 5th, yet has had some games this year bad enough to call his retirement. And he has missed a game or two. He is also one of our elder statesmen. Simmo is currently 3rd, and he has also been much less effective than last year. He is also the oldest player on our list. The rest of the top 5 consists of the Curnow brothers and Patrick Cripps. Our 11th ranked player is Weitering, who was dropped earlier this year because his form was terrible, and hasn't been that good since his return. These scores are a really damning statistic about our performance. With the game not on free to air TV there were not many voters. Only 12 people bothered. It was actually 3 more than for the same round last year (where we were also not on TV).The rating this week was 6.39, which represents an E+. Fair enough, I guess. Rd 22: Carlton vs Western Bulldogs at EtihadThis week there were 15 voters, up from 13 this time last year and 12 last week. More people could see the game, even though not many bothered to turn up on the night. Not really surprising, considering our form and injuries. The rating was much better this week: 7.16, which represents something between a D and a D+. Sort of describes the season. Not many voters interested this week: 12 people bothered and nobody was really happy. Still, the number was better than this game last year, where we had just 11.The rating was another very poor one: 5.28, which doesn't reach an F+. No big surprise when you lose by 100 points, but ...15 players rated a mention, although few did enough to be really noticeable. If he had got 3541 votes all up he would still have won by some margin, but to WIN by that margin! Not even Judd managed that.[2] Ed Curnow started the season well, but fell away near the end. Still 2030 votes is not unreasonable.[3] Charlie moved up into the top 5, but also fell away late in the season.[4] Our oldest 2 players managed to get into the top 5, Daisy for the first time. That is impressive. Quote Selected

Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis Reply #57 – September 03, 2018, 07:04:01 pm Fly, Murphy was OK at times but post the GC games he stunk. Not surprised he polled but really an indictment on the list that so many senior players made the top ten, yet the greater majority played poorly overall. Ed was another whose early season was OK, but as the year progressed his form deteriorated badly. His last month was putrid. Quote Selected
Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis Reply #58 – September 04, 2018, 07:05:30 pm Sums up the year nicely. If you've only got one bloke playing consistently good football week in week out and everybody else is miles behind, the you have a recipe for only winning 2 games and finishing with a percentage of around 60 Quote Selected
