Is it possible that the reporter and team had over stepped their bounds and received a rubber bullet after repeated comments to the contrary? Perhaps they were not allowed to film in the direction they were?

Im not sure, but I believe none of what I read, half of what I see, and always, always infer that there is an agenda being pushed, when there is such a massive reaction to what is in effect, someone putting themselves in the cross hairs and unfortunately getting hit.

Thats not to condone what happened. There is always a more peaceful solution but when you are dealing with people who are perhaps dealing with a very turbulent situation, you have to expect the unexpected.

No.

If you watch the footage, Tomasi and the cameraman were off to one side of the police, clearly identified and working legitimately.  They weren’t attracting any attention from the police until one officer turns and lines Tomasi up.

A British news photographer has also been shot in similar circumstances and then there’s the detained CNN reporter.  None of the three were spoken to before being shot or detained.

The footage of the CNN reporter shows that unequivocally.

The channel 9 reporter shot with the rubber bullet...It shouldn't have happened. A camera and a microphone should give you a good indication that you're  press.
But in the age of social media influencers you can never be sure.
The question is why don't our reporters wear the high viz and helmets clearly identifying them as press that most countries do.
I thought about this when I saw it, pretty sure she wasnt wearing a media vest/top which you normally see on journos covering hot spots. Thats on her employer to have made it mandatory.

None of the media covering the riots are wearing distinguishing clothing.  It’s not a war zone … yet!

They  are now.
The channel 9 reporter this morning was wearing a protective vest labelled press and carrying a helmet.
Someone got the memo.

And now the next time it happens, said employer can take a legal baseball bat, with "media" written on it, to the heads of the police and soldiers who fired the bullet. An old business partner always used to say to me "cover your arse".

Apparently Jeff Bezos is being cancelled for spending his money, the world has gone mad, much better for billionaires to hoard it!

Does anyone else ponder how people living in Spain and the Greek Isles will make a living after they kybosh all the wealthy tourists, I mean they have already black banned immigrants, so where do they actually think some income will come from?

You know, I dont like the guy, he deserves all he's getting but the social media pile on for what is a very life ruining event for 4 people is a bit too much.  Its made the headlines, they are all in strife and deserve that, but I think its a sad reflection on society that people are getting so much joy out of the demise of another person.

I hate the world we have created at times.  Particularly one where Carlton are no good.

There some significant irony in this fate befalling him, an executive making himself a billionaire by using AI to displace thousands of ordinary people from the career they have chosen, gets bitten by a social media driven AI algorithm.

The question that will really do you head in if you think about it, was the decision to put the camera on them a random event, or not?

Six degrees of separation, the Kevin Bacon game, etc., etc., would suggest there was someone somewhere in the hundreds of event crew who knew exactly what was going on.

Anonymity is an illusion.
