I can’t think of any word other than player that she may have meant to use. Was it a slip of the tongue, a Freudian slip, or a brain fade?Either way, an apology and explanation are required. One wanted a declaration and 7-8 overs before stumps. The other wanted to bat for as long as possible and bowl out a demoralised India. He also mentioned the likelihood of more time lost to rain. He also mentioned the likelihood of more time lost to rain.I feel the best new ball bowling conditions come at the Gabba when it's borderline raining, humidity goes through the roof, ball starts to deviate and climb off the pitch, in dry conditions (the absence of storms / showers) usually it's the last hour of play.I get that the pitch might be getting better, but if that is the case each moment that passes increases the chance of no result.I'm not sure India can look more disinterested than it already does, so we should make them pay while we can! Finally, as it stands, an extra 100 or so runs now depends on Starc batting with Carey. Starc is permanently a hair trigger off bowling complete rubbish, I'd want him fresh as a daisy, no excuses. Bat for another hundred runs, and bowl in the midday heat, why when we know what he can do when conditions favour him?I know a lot of people like Starc, but for me he is like a kid that needs a dry nappy to stop him dropping his bundle! On average it's late Day 2 into Day 3, but on greener pitches it might be late Day 3 early Day 4, and obviously it depends on the weather during the match. The predictions of commentators and ground staff are hardly ever accurate in the rate of change or timing, and always a 100% accurate retrospectively. I didn't think that it was necessary to repeat the details of their analysis of why the pitch would deteriorate rapidly and make batting increasingly difficult. Let's just say that their first hand inspection of the pitch and the variable bounce that it was exhibiting on day two led them to their conclusion that the best batting conditions had come and gone. Re: God help me - the Test Cricket thread Reply #1481 – December 16, 2024, 11:22:56 am While we are on the subject of stupidity, I'd like to highlight this little AI pearl; This is in response to an AI being asked, "Does the Cricket ball swing more just before or just after rain?"QuoteNo, there's no evidence that a cricket ball swings more before or after it rains. Studies have shown that the weather has a negligible effect on how much a cricket ball swings, even in humid or overcast conditions. A cricket ball swings when the seam on the ball is positioned in a certain way and air moves around the ball as it travels towards the batsman. The pressure differential causes the ball to swing in the same direction as the seam.So in an AI universe, a cricket ball swings due to pressure differentials. But in an AI universe, rain which changes the density of the medium(humidity), and therefore potentially the pressure differential across the surface of the ball, will make no difference. With a single swipe of his quantum binary digit, the AI God eliminates Swing bowling from existence! Re: God help me - the Test Cricket thread Reply #1482 – December 16, 2024, 03:04:16 pm Sunil Gavaskar inspected the pitch before play this morning. He described it as having many grassy discs and a ball pitching on one of those discs would behave very differently to balls pitching elsewhere. He assessed it as very difficult to bat on and of great assistance to the bowlers. He said that he was confused by the tactics of both sides and suspects that India is hoping for the game to be washed out. Not good enough.I was listening to Boof and Pigeon before the start of the first day's play and Boof asked Pigeon about Hazelwood's side strain. Pigeon replied that there is no way on earth that a bowler with a side strain can come back after missing just one game. Pigeon said that either Hazelwood did not have a side strain or he won't be able to fulfil his bowling duties. Quote Selected 1 Likes
