Re: Track and Field Reply #180 – April 12, 2026, 10:08:29 pm I'm not sure what's gone on in that 200m race but just about everyone's run a PB by a couple of tenths.Murphy's 19.88 was a pb by about 6/10thsI don't think anyone had him pegged as a sub 20 runner.Kennedy's in superb form and no doubt would have broken 20 as well but he pulled up sore from the 100mThat tailwind must have chased them around the bend. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear a bit more about this. The run is a legitimate time and the wind gauge people would be proficient but..Kennedy 9.96 x 2Gout 19.67Murphy 19.88.No one would have predicted those times being legally run before the race. It's extraordinary.I don't think it's a case of 'The Games' scenario where the track was a metre short. But the track has been upgraded and you wonder whether that's giving some assistance above a legitimate level. It will be interesting to see if the records are ratified.Countering that is the fact that the Women's times in the 100 and 200 were average so maybe the guys just did have a day out.
