No, we don't really need small forwards who kick goals and set up scoring opportunities. :D
Playing against an U/18's team even you would look good Lods.
Last 9 qtrs have been good. Finally seen the right attitude. Evans finally found his feet at the club. Played great VFL footy and eventually carried over to the AFL. Was a tough job being a small forward at Carlton. Best ball user we have. Liked F.Young on the wing, got better each game.  Used it well too. See why we took him ahead of McMahon now (said different a couple of weeks ago but now converted...lol). There'll be some changes but won't be those two.

We should last year in the last 2 H & A games you can go ok with 19 to 20 blokes out.

We came with the right attitude and right plan, that's what you can from it, not so much who we played. Something we haven't seen all year. Last 9 qtrs we have played good footy, starting with that scintillating last qtr against the Suns.  Attitude is what I want to see, we can then work on the rest.

Or we play better against sides who are below us on the ladder.
Port was above us at the time and beat us by 50pts last time. The smart ones amongst us won't look at who we played but how we went about it. Better attitude and a better plan.

If we were serious we would have beaten that mob by 20 goals, 6 goal run was embarrassing in its clumsiness.
They only lost by 2 pts last week to the Saints, who, while not great, have been winning.

To me the glaring thing that stood out for me was the even contribution across the board, especially the kids. Less passengers, more contributors. The kids got a real taste for it and they seemed to like the menu.
Continue that attitude and hunger in the PS and bring on 2026 with a few classy acquisitions, Jagger and Dean (as  prospect).
2021-Pi$$ or get off the pot
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton can win the 2025 AFL Premiership

I thought Hollands was really good by hand in tight, I don't see the poor kicking that others see.  I think the good outweighs the bad.  On the other hand, Durdin, his field kicking is awful and for one who barely gets it gees he wastes it.

Hollands had 17 effective disposals to Durdin’s 12 - and that’s not bad for a small forward.  Both  were handball heavy and you’re spot on with Ollie’s ball use in tight.

Ollie’s field kicking is generally quite good but he usually has a couple of howlers where he doesn’t get within cooee of the target, or pinpoints an opponent.  I’m sure he can address that.

I think  Durdin’s problem is that his kicking lacks penetration.  That brings him undone when he attempts a pass at the extent of his range.  I don’t think that can be fixed, apart from better decision making and his teammates giving him better options.
It's still the Gulf of Mexico, Don Old!

Getting confidence, getting used to the speed of the game....improving. That's all you can ask. ;)

We went thanks to free tickets.

There were lots of players slipping.  Essendon's marking was ordinary - dropped a lot they should have taken.

The only time that there was a little concern about the result was in the last when they got within 20 points.  But Weiters decided we didn't want to lose and made a couple of really good spoils, then we kicked a goal to put it beyond doubt.

I think I saw in the in-game thread that Essendon's pressure was off the scale.  They need to review how they measure that, as it didn't seem to be a very intense match.

Like others have said, good that a few of the youngsters/less experienced have had exposure over a few weeks, which will help them into pre-season plans and next year.  Evans' purple patch in the 3rd was great and others are getting accustomed to the level.

Glad the season is over!  Tennis finals coming up and cricket pre-season is starting, so plenty of other things to do.

I'm not interested in your L's and W's. That's not the point in this case, the season was done. Looking ahead, our rise back up the ladder with come down to a much better attitude across the board and changes to our game plan. That's what I looked for since Voss was re-appointed, not whether we won or lost. That is what I saw and what has been missing all year. Not sure how hard that is to understand. You only saw we played Essendon etc, and looked no further. Glad others look at things deeper.

FYI Essendon's 260 pressure number was for the first 7 minutes of the 3rd quarter.

With nothing to play for, in the 100th and final match of a player who had kept the club waiting all year to re-sign and imo played not with the same intensity he used to from the beginning of the season, an injury list of Newman, Jagga, Cotters, Curnow, Elijah, JSOS, Lord - playing kids essentially kids v kids - I think we can just say well done to the Kids and be happy for them to experience another win.

what an exhausting season, I’m glad it’s over. I am looking forward to players finally admitting where they’re going and moving on.
